Reminding us of the red wedding? That's the awful thing of it. The Red Wedding isn't even portrayed in the play. The fight between the Lannisters and Starks is portrayed by a joust. Fair warfare so to say. That they were murdered during a wedding is conveniently cut out.
It’s astounding Tywin didn’t end this immediately. It should be known that by this point, the Westerlands mines are starting to deplete, in other words the Lannister’s were running into money problems and the Tyrell’s were going to be the richest family in Westeros. Despite all that, he allows this show to subtly disrespect the Tyrells (and many other attendees obviously).

In a show with as much perversity as Game of Thrones, this scene somehow manages to be arguably its most distasteful. Tywin and the Tyrells' reactions are highlights.
Yeah out of all of them it basically insults them the worst next to Sansa. With the homophobic jokes and the realization that Joffrey's own wife once was married to Renly.
The look of disgust on Tywin’s face at 2:16 as he watches the culmination of decades of scheming giggling like a school girl. It’s so undignified, even Oberyn Martel is shocked.
The sheer contrast of reactions between Joffrey and his mother compared to nearly everybody else is priceless. (Tommen doesn't count because he's too young to understand the situation) Tywin masking his cringe with a fake smile at first while looking around inspecting what other people are feeling about this but as time passes, his annoyance does so as well. Tyrion is beyond insulted. Sansa is dead inside. Margery is disgusted, Loras *leaves*, Olenna is unimpressed and Varys is well...let's say he was disturbed a bit.
I really like the sound effects in the scene just after that guy cut the wolf head and camera shift to other people namely oberyn Martell there is so much richness in the sound it tells how horrible it was, people were confused.

The fact that Tywin looked over at Cersei when Joffrey was humiliating his uncle. Tyrion may not be his favorite or most loved son but he knew that he was STILL his son. He’s a Lannister as much as Cersei and Jamie are and his grandson embarrassed him in front of a crowd. “Good. I wish YOU knew how to manipulate him” “He’s a Lannister. He may be the lowest of the Lannisters but he’s one of us” You just know Tywin was tempted to discipline that boy but he couldn’t because they were surrounded by a crowd of people.
@@UncleRuckussA gentle slap obviously followed by an extra 20 gold to the actor. I think all participants would be most willing to pull such a stunt. 🤣
In the books it’s Littlefinger who arranges this. Another way to create conflict between the king and Tyrion which makes him look even more guilty when Joffrey dies
The acting was so on point in this scene. Margaery, ollena and loras were disgusted because they had relations with loras. Varys knew the truth. Oberyn also probably knew much of the real story and Sansa was traumatized. Cersei was seen laughing, which showed her parenting attitude towards Joffrey. Tommen laughed at first but saw tyrion and tywin and stopped. Tywin must have been seething inside. Pycelle the boot licker going with the flow. And some minor lords and ladies were disgusted by this too but could not show it.
When Tywin, who organized the Red Wedding, is disgusted by you… you’re a special kind of awful. Tywin’s like “yeah I did it but at least I have the decency not to rub the poor girl’s face in it”
Do not portray this monster as a decent guy, he cared about Sansa less than about Tyrion What kind of decency can have a man, who orchestrated the murder of innocent children and a pregnant woman?
I highly suspect Joffrey would have met his fate soon even if he had past this day. Margaery and Olenna clearly disgusted him. Varys knew that brat's cruelty was terrible for people around. Tyrion was struggling to hold himself down. Even Tywin can't hide his expression of aversion towards his attitudes. It is very unwise to displease so many masterminds, especially when his replacement (Tommen) is so susceptible to be manipulated.
I love that literally EVERYONE (except for Cersei and Joffrey) is just disgusted by this. Margaery and Loras because they mocked Renly’s death, Sansa because they mocked Robb’s death, Tyrion because he’s a dwarf, Tywin because Joffrey is portraying himself as the victor in this war when Tywin was the mastermind, and Tommen because they are mocking his uncle Tyrion. And even though they don’t have a direct reason, you can see the disgust in Lady Olenna, Prince Oberyn, and Varys.
This scene and the entire wedding up until the point of his death was basically the equivalent of 28-3 2016 Super Bowl, the Sharks vs Golden Knights 2019 game 7 blown lead, and the Yankees 3-0 lead against the Red Soxs in 2004 all together in one.
