RENTING in IRELAND - Things you HAVE TO KNOW!

- How bad is renting in Ireland? There are things you have to know about rent. There were just 716 homes available to rent on 1 August in Ireland, which has a population of 5.1 million people. Renting in Dublin is the worst! So is living in Ireland bad?
Years of housing undersupply, coupled with an exodus of small landlords from the market, has led to a dire situation for those seeking a home to rent.
According to leading property website Daft.ie, rental prices hit an all-time high in August, with supply at its lowest level since the website started tracking in 2006. Students, desperate to secure accommodation on the verge of a new academic year, are particularly vulnerable to the crisis.
Have a nice day everyone and see you next week!
Cheers! 🍺

I rent an apartmant (1 bed) on Parnell Street, Dublin for €900/month 11 years ago. Now I saw it for €2,650 on daft...
That’s crazy!
Very good representation of just how truly messed up the housing situation is here. It is beyond crazy. The prices that some landlords charge and for the quality. I swear my pet rodents had better living conditions than some of my friends had in Dublin. It is MENTAL. The government doesn't care and never will. Many of them profit off this anyways.
After applying to almost 80 places up and down the country I have a viewing on the 21st.
I’m not religious in any way but man, when I tell you I’ve been praying it goes well it’s no exaggeration!
It’s literally my last hope before I’m literally homeless so I’ll let you know how it goes. 🤞🤞🤞
Fingers crossed!
How it went brother?
@@abudulaymahmud4698 I got extremely lucky, found a 2 bed bungalow in Co.Kildare!
If I didn’t get it when I did, I would have been homeless.
Interesting to hear about renting from the opposite side. I have bought property in Galway because an agency said they could fix it up and rent out at ursurous rates. Tis true! I am just not sure how long it can last.
My wife and I want to move from Germany to Ireland next year with our 1 year old son. We're ok with living anywhere in Ireland except in Dublin. We prefer smaller cities anyway. We don't want to pay more than 1,000 euros a month for rent. Even if its a small place. We're ok with anything really. How do you think our chances are? We want to rent a place first before getting a job because even if we find a job we may not find a place to rent in that area. So its better to have a place first and then look for any available job in that area. If we pay a higher security deposit and pay for like 3 months in advance maybe a landlord will accept us even if we dont have a job at that time. What do you think? Like I said, anywhere in Ireland is fine.
To be completely honest I don't think under 1000 is possible today in cities. If you are willing to live outside of towns sure, definitely. Just 10min drive from Galway and prices are much lower.
The MOST IMPORTANT thing is never pay deposit without seeing the place, never send money without getting the key. So many scams out there it is unbelievable.
@@Corrky Even in small cities like Tralee, Letterkenny or Waterford? As long as there's a bus connection its ok, because we don't have a car or drivers license. And we're ok with a 1 bedroom apartment.
I honestly can’t tell. I was never there. Everything I’m saying is Galway and near Galway.
Can anyone say if it gets better for locations with access to Dublin (buses, biking, etc) but are further out or outside the city? I have a family of five and we’re considering the possibility of moving to work in Dublin on a single income.
It does. Even here in Galway which is much smaller prices will drop further away from centre you go.
I can’t tell you how much exactly would that be in and around of Dublin but they are surely better outside of city itself.
Can you recommend the Hostel you lived in before you found a room?
Sure, I stayed in Woodquay hostel, Galway.
Thanks! @@Corrky

What about if you have good credit and you have money is it still hard to get a flat while studying
Yes, it is hard in any case.
Am guessing this just a problem in the capital and not Donegal
I don’t know about Donegal but I can confirm it is not just the capital. I’m in Galway and it is as bad as in Dublin.
im a student who is expected to be in Dublin this 24th april, and i still cant find a place to rent ,any advice or a way to actually rent an affordable place ?
No really. Be persistent and keep checking daft.ie, rent.ie, Facebook groups…
Good luck! 🤞
@@Corrkythank you for the reply, i am contacting everyone every day, but i think affordable places r impossible to find but am hoping to get one
that's awful to hear, its like US housing too :(
This is good to know. I hope to one day visit Ireland, maybe move there.
In any of those cases accommodation will be your biggest problem.
How to find home rent at westport?
Hey Corrky!! Hope you did get my Spanish Language vocabulary context list. Dude, this is the scariest part of Ireland for me right now because my husband and I are investing in the stock market to buy a rental property in Cork in 5-6 years. That´s a very long time in real estate by the lucky news is God is good! I prayed for the perfect location in Orlando, Florida and BAM! Our investment has more than doubled in three years but, we´ve got 5 more to go. Just don´t know what´s going to happen. Welcome to planet Earth.
Wishing you and Ginger Lady the very best! Merry Christmas to a fellow pork eater and meat lover. Vegans suck.
If you have money you will get house to afford it. Think about middle class people..Where they will go??No affordable house in ireland..
I love your voice where are you from ?
Croatia :)
