    Great video! Unfortunately my lemons dried up shortly after they seeded. I will try again :) Thanks for the pruning advice!

      It's such a pity, but never give up. I also had 5-6 sprouted seedlings, but only one became a tree. Many depends on seed genetics, so it is advisable to start as many seeds as you can because few lemons can withstand indoor conditions.

      @@LogosPostModern I will plant more next time. Do you recommend covering them with a clear plastic or something to maintain high humidity in the beginning?

    • @LogosPostModern
      @LogosPostModern  3 роки тому

      @@LeadingTheCheer I covered the seeds during germination with a transparent plastic bag and kept it until the seedlings were 2-3 weeks old. The bag had several holes for the ventilation purpose. I recommend you to do the same or so. You just need to spray young plants 3-4 times a week to increase air humidity and hydrate your lemons.

      @@LogosPostModern so when you planted the seedlings you didnt use a plastic bag green house anymore you just sprayed them?

      @@LeadingTheCheer I used a plastic bag for a week after my seedlings sprouted. Then I gradually removed it and sprayed every now and then. The lemon plant had just a pair of leaves when I stopped using plastic bag.

      Thanks! I'm from Kyiv, Ukraine. The trees outside actually casually grow growing outside near the house, it's not a park but many people say that Kyiv is a green city and almost every street looks like a park))

    How to trim lemon tree growing straight up. I have 4 that are 3 yrs old. Almost lost 1, but is coming back; 1 growing straight up, no branches, 2 BEAUTIFUL!!

    • @LogosPostModern
      @LogosPostModern  Рік тому +2

      Good branching depends on many factors. First of all, make sure the plant is healthy and it gets plenty of sunlight and nutrients. After that, you need to cut the strongest branch. It will make all the energy go to side branches.

      @LogosPostModern So can I cut that tall center stalk? I wish I could send pic.

      My tree is about 5 ft now. It branched on the first 3 ft then just center is growing. I found out I needed to feed so I did, but then early fall came in.

      @@patriciahambsch181 Yes, you can cut it but keep at least some leaves. I also had a single stem, but cut it in half and it sprouted several branches.

    Please don't take this the wrong way, but it didn't seem like you potted it up properly. Surely there were still a lot of air spaces between the roots when you did it like that?

    I have a tree growing like yours at your pace. Are you going to clip the thorns?

    • @LogosPostModern
      @LogosPostModern  2 роки тому +1

      I don't do it, because they eventually fall off by themselves when the plant matures. But if you want to clip the thorns, it won't harm the the tree.

    Dude I'll apologize for comment bombing your other video , your on to it .but I will say one thing you don't really want a canopy like how a tree grows up and out shading the trunks,you want it to grow like a wine glass so the middle is open with nothing crossing over,you want all the growth on the outsides not up to it you get me .I understand bonzi is a bit different but if you want it looking like a good heathy lemon tree I'd do that . And if your going to graft on a few different varieties they will have different growing rates so you want to keep the growth even so it doesn't un Ballance the tree and have one variety stealing nutrition from the others . Shit I hope I haven't been to rude and somthing I have said helps you in the future.
    At the moment I've got, lime , orange, mandarin and lemon trees growing in pots as bonzi sort of thing until someone in my family buys a property and I can give them to them to plant out ,or keep as cool bonzi trees at the front door or something. I have one tree for myself that I've grafted , lime , lemon, and lemonade lemons onto . And I have a love of one of our native trees called Pohutukawa that's like our Xmas tree and we actually barried my grandmother in a Pohutukawa coffin. but what I'm doing is growing a Pohutukawa with three shoots starting down low and I'm rubbing off the lateral buds so it grows up to a meter tall fast and I can then plat the shoots forming a cool looking trunk and when I die instead of a normal funeral I want to be creamated and have my family dig a hole somewhere in a nature reserve somewhere around where I grew up and have them tip my ashes in hole and around the Pohutukawa tree as they plant it . And just have them chain on a steal plate with my name on so that my family in the future might be able to travel past and remember me ,or if it's on a property they own hopefully they could turn it into a Xmas tradition to go have a party at my tree .
    I also have a lemon tree I'm trying to grow over a old bottle instead of a rock.
    Sorry for rambling have a good one dude and keep up the good work

      I am fine since russians faild to conquer the capital and now the life seems to become more or less normal in my city, but some of my acquaintances are or were on occupied territories, and many of my relatives had to flee abroad and that's terrible. Unfortunately, I can't make any videos now, although I had some ideas. Thank you for your support. It means a lot to all Ukrainians. Slava Ukraine!

      Hi! I'm glad you asked. It's doing really well! I would love to make an update in spring but the nazi state of russia invaded my country, preventing me from making that update video with grafting. I will try to make it later. So, keep in touch if you want to see more.

    Have you gotten fruit

    • @LogosPostModern
      @LogosPostModern  2 роки тому +1

      Hi. Unfortunately, not yet because the plant doesn't receive such amount of sunlight indoors in my country as in places where lemons are grown commercially. In addition, I haven't grafted it yet (I should have done it earlier, but this is my first try in growing lemon trees). I am going to graft it this summer and show how much it grew. I think, it may start producing fruit in 1-2 years after I graft it.

      @@LogosPostModern i doubt it will as its a random seed. You can use them as hedge plants but if it doesn't produce flowers in the first three years its not going to produce fruit. I have six I grew and found out after 5 years now I just buy fruit trees from reputable companies online.

      @@1-chef-875 Well, that's interesting. Anyway, I planted it to have fun. I've heard that the main thing is grafting since the grafted variety has the genes to produce cultivated fruit. So, we'll see in several years how it will turn out.
