Hi, ovela! The actors portrayed the friars really well. Jose Rizal (author of noli and fili) described the friars as brutal, greedy and ruthless. Since they are "the servants of God", they believe that they have the power to do EVERYTHING and they're always right so no one wants to go against them.

Catching up on the episodes since it's a Friday. I also appreciate the balance of the scenes. It's like riding a roller coaster. It seems that the friars were painted badly here but history states that the friars then were actually like that. Noli Me Tangere was what inspired the filipinos to stand up against them.

You know what Ovela, i have read the two novels of Dr. Jose Rizal but the truth is i forgot what had happened on the story. I read it when i was in high school back then now i am 58 and its really funny that i could not remember the whole story. Hahaha

Friars or monks normally are not parish priests but in Spanish times in the Philippines they were, and they also had substantial powers as they kept an eye on what was happening in the towns - for Spain - AND their orders (Franciscans who had these brown clothes and funny hairdo, Dominicans, Benedictines etc.) owned a lot of land as well. The USA confiscated friar lands and sold them to rich Filipinos similar to Ibarra and Fidel and Kapitan Tiago when they took over the country. And of course the USA have separation of Church and State which Spain didn't have then so the old power of the priests never returned to what it was before.

Klay can change emotions, perspective, thoughts of the characters but she can change the actual novel. As what Mr Torres said to her, all she have to do is watch. But since miss klay was from the future she can let that happen but sad to say she can change everything in novel.
