I'm in college and miss teaching so much. The "smart ass" dean made the science program flipped, and the professors are researchers. in the hemiacetal reaction with alcohol only one hydrogen of OH group is reacted with the alcohol (OH) and forms water... its like a exchange process of H and CH3... i think u made error on saying... u said hydroxide OH molecule reacts with OH of water which sounds a bit wrong lol

It depends, in acidic medium aldehydes are oxidised to carboxylic acid il, but in alkali media it will react to form salt instead.
