Honestly the heel for me was great. This boot feels like a true speed boot. Something rare nowadays. Uncompromising thin upper, good traction and the lightest boot available today. And even though it feels slightly heavier than the outgoing model, I prefer the more substantial feeling upper and the outsole has more spring, and the reduced volume is a plus. And yeah its slightly heavier than the prior model but it's still the lightest
Hey, my first language isn’t Englisch and I never heard the term „less volume“ ins this kind of context. Does it mean, that there is less place in the boot?
I love the new stud pattern: front chevron studs for acceleration and cloverleaf studs for rotation look like the new PRO soleplate from ASICS (plus dual density and eliminated heel counter!), and are a real improvement for use on AG.
The fit in the heel is something that is very important to me. Slight heel slippage or discomfort really bothers me. I liked most of the changes Puma made to the new Ultra Ultimate. The new upper and shape is a huge plus from me. I don’t feel like the soleplate/stud pattern is an improvement over the outgoing one. At least in my opinion. And gotta give Puma some props on the graphics, good to see the classic form stripe back. The heel is a small concern on an otherwise great release. I will still pick one up a few months from now though.
Agree only issue on currently having is that the heel liner is very very aggressive and even after 4 uses is still giving me discomfort. Definitely think other top end speed boots have done a better job than puma in the heel department but the upper is just so nice reminds me of that vapor 9 synthetic leather that was so soft
@@Tingupingus comparing the new Puma upper to the legendary teijin synthetic from the Vapor 9 is quite the complement. From the looks they reminded me of a mix of the Vapor X and 12 Elite. I just ordered my Ultra Ultimates a few days ago. We’ll see how the heel treats me. I feel the Neo 3/Beta and Vapor 14 were the gold standard of speed boot heels. Loved both of them.
I really enjoy your videos and find them very informative. I have a question unrelated to this video but hopefully you have some insight on. Last Fall I bought my daughter the Adidas Predator Freak.1 Cleats. Within a couple of months the sole separated from the upper. Adidas refunded me without too much issue and I subsequently got her the X SPEEDFLOW.1 FG. It's been about 6 months and the toe is almost worn through and I can tell that they don't have much life left. To the contrary her old Adidas X 19.1 FG's are still holding up great and she's now practicing in those in order to prolong the SPEEDFLOW's. What gives? Is Adidas quality going downhill? I'd love to hear your thoughts and perhaps a video on the durability of various brands. Thanks and keep up the great videos!
Hi! I had the Adidas Predator 20.1 AG and the upper separated from the sole after like 4 wears. A teammate stepped on me pretty hard that’s probably what did it. Used exclusively on artificial grass. I also had Nike Tiempo legend 8 elite FG used only on natural grass. They lasted around 20 wears before a smaller separations happened. Still usable but I have stopped using them. Puma Ultra 1.3 FGs I abused on AG and still holding up. Very small separation that holds 1 black pellet from the artificial grass turf. Still using it and seems like should last a while. However I have heard of other people getting their Pumas destroyed really quickly. I don’t necessarily think any brand is more durable unless you go for the Mizuno made in Japans who are supposedly double glued by hand at the point where the upper meets the sole. But they are not as fashionable looking and very expensive. Hope this helps
Been trying to move out of my FG X18.1’s for a while. I’ve maintained them well but age is catching up on them. I have a SG pair of X19.1’s in better condition because they don’t used as much. I love the everything about them, prob the most well suited boots to my feet I’ve had. Any recommendations on current boots similar to the fit and feel of the X18.1/19.1? Think the Future Z but I’m afraid 😂
Future Z would be somewhat similar in that it has a soft upper like the X18, but they’re definitely not exactly the same. NB Furon V6+ would probably be the closest thing, at least when it comes to the feel of the upper.
Just got these today after wearing the 1.4 for the past season. Got in them in the same size I had the 1.4's. These are much much tighter, I might have to return them and size up.
Hi Josh, any chance of a blackout version of the pure grip socks pro please? I love the ones I have but would like to be able to wear them at work as well as at home and for training/matches. Pure logo could be in a more subtle colour perhaps and maybe the grips could be black or dark grey.
late response, but they are very poor quality, on my pair soleplate start unglues after month of use (trainings and games), and toes become into awful conditions. Heel is also feel awful. Waist of money in my opinion, better take some nikes or adidas.
@@tyrell8919 Yes. I've tried them and they're great but the upper just feels... a little off. Its slightly more rigid and plasticky, but if you fit in the ultimate then it'll also fit on those. hey Jeremy! What options do I have if I’m looking for AG boots under $140 in the US? AG boots are hard to come by here so would nike tiempo, premier or new balance 442 be suitable for AG because they all have less aggressive studs?
I’d shop around my dude $140 is a big enough budget to get something really nice if you look in the right places I was in the same boat as you until I ended up finding someone selling superfly 6 elites in AG for $80…they’re great and I actually use them for FG as well pretty regularly with no problem.

Hey Josh, I'd love your advice on something. I recently bought a pair of puma ultra 1.4s. I went a whole size down because the size i usually buy was too loose and there aren't any half sizes in my country. So the width is perfect and the length is also almost perfect, it's just that there's a little pressure on the very inside of my big toe as it pushes slightly against the front(the rest of my big toe and other toes don't feel this). I haven't sprinted in these boots but I did do some freestyle dribbling in a small area and there was no pain, just the feeling of that part of the toe being pressed. Do you think I should continue using these?
I tried out the ultra 1.3 cause I found them in my size for a steel. I hate them the boot I was wearing before was the superfly 6 and I noticed while wearing the ultras that they are so unresponsive and just awkward spaces in the foot. I put them up for resell and will probably never buy pumas again lol
Unfortunately, they are very poor quality, after month of use, toes was completely destroyed :( poor glue or whatever else they are no way close to nike or adidas by quality, looks like very cheap in production model just to make money for company
