Lettuce Soup for the leaves that are looking like they are going to bolt Emma, pick and wash the leaves, wilt them down and add onions and a little garlic cook until soft but not coloured, add the leaves some frozen peas cover with chicken stock and cook until peas are done then blitz with a stick blender delicious.
Reference your pumkins, dig yourself hole half spade deep spade wide fill with farm yard manure, cut the bottom off a 2ltr bottle (place cap end In ground ) plant pumkins on the top so you can water the root's through the plastic bottle. Put chicken pellets in the bottle so every time you water they get a feed, The water will soak into the ground quicker through the manure when top watering. Most of all have fun with it 👍.
Hi e your tomatoes are looking good. To make them more productive, pick them when they're a deep orange and let them turn red on the window sill. That way ther is more energy in the green fruit rather than the plant spending all it's energy turning fruit red. Hope this helps, it did for me. See you soon 😊
Emma: Letting a few select plants flower and go to seed was one of the most rewarding things I did as I learned to garden. Saving seeds from your garden and planting them the following season, and then harvesting the results to eat, I found to be an amazing experience. We learn as we grow.
Hi Emma, I know just how you feel when plants don't go to plan we work hard and when it doesn't pay off you can say to yourself is it worth it , if I get a good crop I'm over the moon ,it's good to get a crop but what keeps me going is I love to potter around just being down in my plot in the sunshine and a wine keeps me trying, so ya Emma keep doing what your doing, a recipe you might like ,lettuce, tomato cucumber pepper one of each, chop up fine put in a bowl and mix in balsamic vinegar and put it on garlic bread and great snack just something to put together with your lettuce, anyway Emma love your vlogs keep going I have faith in you xlove from south Australia x
Brilliant Emma, you have literally kept me going this summer and how coincidental I picked my first huge tomatoe today and was as proud as you. Your attitude to the allotment life is so refreshing I love it.
I did a vineyard tour in South Shropshire yesterday and the guide explained that the 18 inch growth he would have expected to see on the vines in the last couple of months has probably been replaced with 18 inches of root growth below ground to find water. I wonder if it is the same with your pumpkin that doesn’t seem to have grown … (?)
I've said it before and I will say it again but don't keep doing yourself down you do a great job on your allotment and produce some lovely veggies , keep up the good work x
Emma save the seeds of your yummy tomato so that you can have more next summer. Also save the seeds of your pumpkin that is as tall as you are. Great video.
If your radishes grow and bolt let them flower the seedpod are also really good to eat and taste like small crunchy radishes and look like capers cool for salads etc.
I think pumpkins have taken a while to get going this year Emma, we fed ours with tomato feed a week ago and it seems to have made a difference. Woohoo! Your daughter Alice has really grown she's absolutely gorgeous and seemed to love that tomato so I recon she's gonna be like you with an interest in gardening along with Tom of course. Really loved seeing the kids. I used to love taking my son to the allotment. He's 28 now so no chance plus I don't have it now. He's too far away to show an interest in our garden but he has a balcony to grow stuff so he got the bug. xx
So good to see you happy over your pumpkins now. I'm trying mashed potato squash this year on my archways as well as Jack b little. It's a lovely looking squash. Try it next year.
Congrats on the lovely tomato! And the pumpkin, of course. As for the lettuce, you could make lettuce soup. I know. It sounds weird, but it really is tasty, and a great way to use up lettuce that is starting to bolt. Thanks for all the videos and for sharing your garden and lovely insights.
Great to see another Emma's allotment diary vlog and love 🥰 the vlog. Allotment is doing well even though it's half organised and half not organised. Have a good week 👍.
Looks like the pumpkins got stunted, and will not recover. Better to take them out and plant any nice climbing seed. Runner beans, melon, morning glories, gourds, etc.
I have some lettuce that went to seed and it has been fun to watch it flower. The insects really like the flowers and I have seen a few birds trying to get the seeds.
Thank you for the video. I'm trying to grow pumpkins on canes up the side of the kids' trampoline. So far, so good and about 3 foot tall. The little pumpkins keep falling off, but hopefully we'll get something by halloween.
Brilliant well done Emma. You make me so motivated for the alottment. I just picked our carrots, onions and courgette after courgettes. Still waiting on my corn on the cobs, when do they get harvested. What's best to sow in August ready for autumn and winter xxxx
Still waiting for those tomato fairies over here, though they have started to go a funny colour at last! I’m also about to plant out runner and French climbing beans I sowed a few weeks ago in cells, so 🤞
This year my tomatoes did incredible but like you my pumpkins are moving slow. I just moved them and fed as well so hopefully we get some Jack be littles this year. I also have a random pumpkin 🎃 plant doing ok lots of leaves and flowers but no pumpkins yet. That one just planted himself because the old Halloween pumpkin fell into the side garden and now boom pumpkin plants. Great vlog!
Hello Emma, I am so thrilled that the one Jack-Be-Little pumpkin is growing so well. You have really inspired so many folks with the pumpkin trellis idea and it would be a shame if you did not get a single one to grow.....However I would suggest that your inspiration of others to join in the pumpkin trellis journey is a success. Last year I had so many plants esp the cucumbers that were so green but just did not grow beyond the size of your pumpkin you are talking about. I do not know why this year there is no problem at all. I am very proud of you and your garden I think you are doing so well this year. Every year is a journey and a new chess game. Set up the board with the same pieces yet the game is nothing like last year. Be excited and stay that way I love it when you "Just Whack'Em In". Your daughter looks just like you you had both kids in the August plot tour last year also. Have a blessed week bye for now
I've had really good luck with pumpkins this year, got a baby boo growing up some trellis with about 3/4 good size pumpkins, loads have died off because they ha ent been pollinated think I have pollen beetles 😔
Do you have any blood, fish and bone fertiliser it's great for giving the veg a helping hand I've used it more this year and had great results this might help your pumpkins but you have one plant lifted off so that's good result
What variety of pumpkin are your plants that are smaller. I have two petty pan plants and I've noticed that they are a lot smaller than the jack o lantern i grew last year... That nearly took over my patio. Love watching your content!
Hi Emma love watching your videos. Regarding your abundance of lettuce I made lettuce soup and it was delicious, whack in potato, onion and loads of garlic and enjoy. There are loads of recipes to be found online.
Hi Emma ..those tomatoes are putting mine to shame ..and I've not got any that are beginning to ripen while you are munching on yours ..I'm so dissapointed for you with your pumpkins. I looked back at you planting them last year and one thing you said was you manured one side and it was just compost on the other ...can you get manure for both beds at the end of the year ..
@@vanessawilkinson9855 Well I'm going to eat my words now 😂. I checked to garden this morning and 2 male flowers have opened in all their glory, probably thanks to the heat.
I'm officially calling tomatoes 'balls of joy' forever more.
Lol ☺
Bonjour 👋
Top vidéo bravo Merci pour ce partage et les informations.
A bientôt 😉😊😊😊

I can feel your joy with the first bite of your beautiful tomato
You haven't tasted a real tomato until the day you've grown your own ☺
Well done with your tomato. I think the name you ws looking for was Cour di bue, which is a large heart shaped tom.
Pumpkins - Is it too much sun Emma? Try shading the plants and extra watering.
Hi Emma - I think the large tomato variety may be 'Cuore di Bue'

"Comparison is the thief of joy" 💯 I love your plot, attitude and sense of humour.

Love your allotment! It's half organised, half not, much like my own!

Put a plastic bottle into the ground beside the tomato and water into that they like water deep in their roots

I eat the radish pods too.

Glad to see you so happy Emma and daughter. If I'm not mistaken pumpkins are greedy so they need quite a bit of feeding. Good luck with the beans.
Oh Emma lm sooooo happy your happier and lm with you on the runner bean's.....they will grow PLENTY OF WATER THOUGH 😚🌱🌱🌱💕
Brilliant well done Emma.

I think you could give your not growing pumpkins a lot of water to flush the soil a bit in case something in the soil is inhibiting their growth.

Hi Emma I would like to start videoing your first video that you have made please.x
P.S the whitefly on your cauliflower are a huge problem.
Do you have any blood, fish and bone fertiliser it's great for giving the veg a helping hand I've used it more this year and had great results this might help your pumpkins but you have one plant lifted off so that's good result

Agree! Lettuce and pea soup is also very good - and very French.
Ps Emma toast the garlic bread LOL x
Excellent 👍

Send the lettuce to Australia. We are in the midst of a serious lettuce shortage here
Where did you get your bunting from please?
My pumpkin vine is doing great but none of the male flowers are opening so I may have to accept I may not get a pumpkin harvest 😭
My butternut are the same….7 plants equals 1 fruit. Not sure if the soil was too rich in horse poop or the weather
@@vanessawilkinson9855 Well I'm going to eat my words now 😂. I checked to garden this morning and 2 male flowers have opened in all their glory, probably thanks to the heat.
great vlog emma
By the ek your daughter looks like you
