Honestly phase 4 has made me appreciate phases 1-3 more cause it just seems all over the place with no structure. Each movie in phase one built to Avengers, most of the movies in phase 2 built up to age of ultron and age of ultron lead into civil war with that movie leading into Black Panther, Homecoming and then Infinity War and Endgame. While the Infinity Saga wasn’t perfect I do think it had a better form of structure to it then whatever the Multiverse saga is doing. Now i’ll still tune in to watch these projects but I do get frustrated when it feels like i’m a comic book reader trying to read all these plot points when there’s so many and they seem to just be disconnected from on another.
@@thegoldman25 No Way Home was a bit overhyped. It needed a script doctor because I don't think Peter saved those villains, he cured them and they will still die in their own dimensions. Aunt May didn't have to die and Dr. Strange was made stupid for some reason
how exactly did phase 2 build up to age of Ultron? if anything that movie seems to ignore the previous ones what with tony being iron man and fury having a helicarrier like it's no big deal. and if you say that MOST of phase 2 builds up to it then I'm pretty sure about half if not more of phase 4 builds up to the whole multiverse thing (loki even introduced Kang) and it could be argued that the "direction" of phase 4 is to expand what the mcu is, from having shows be more clearly canon to having a black and white special to having more comic-like elements etcetera pillar of garbage has a whole video on this subject which I would highly recommend.
I would like to point out that Thanos in Endgame didn't _just_ want to destroy the world... He specifically realized that his original plan wouldn't work as well as he intended, so he planned to completely _remake_ the world instead. Not just destroy it, but tear it down and build it anew.
1:05:50 Namor’s motivation isn’t revenge on the surface world. Namor’s issue is that since Wakanda spilled the beans about Vibranium, colonizing forces are encroaching on his kingdom, searching for alternative sources outside of Wakanda since they couldn’t steal it. This puts his kingdom and people at risk, and he tries to get Wakanda on his side to present a United front again Western Colonial powers seeking to exploit their resources and people (as has been the case for the last 500+ years) Furthermore, it doesn’t matter if they “moved somewhere much nicer”. They had to forcibly mutate themselves in order to leave their ancestral home since time immemorial due to being forced out by colonizers who enslaved those left behind. That’s what causes Namor’s hatred and the fear it’s about to happen again.
Well no namors issue was stating hidden , which is why we only see him involved when they made a vibranium detector and tried to kill the scientist who made , then halfway through he flips and wants to go on a first strike , defeating the purpose of staying hidden, his motivations don’t make sense
Moon knight is my fave series of the bunch because it's a super fun exploration of self love, trauma, cults and manipulation with a sprinkle of Egyptian mythology. Also it's probably the most faithful and respectful representation of DID in mainstream media, I recommend watching Cinema Therapy's video on the subject. The characters were fun and I think it's a good introduction of what will come with the character for all of those who haven't read the comics, I can't wait to see more of Mark, Steven and Jake.
Ironically enough I found the superhero action in Moon Knight to be the weakest part of it. That part was kinda "meh" for me, even though I loved everything else.
If you want good DID rep, you’ve got to watch Mr Robot. The season 1 twist is pretty predictable; what isn’t is everything that follows afterwards. It’s a fantastic series.
As much as I enjoyed Moonknight the problem for me is the really good stuff is with Moonknight himself with Marc and Steven but everything else is a bit messy. Layla was nice but her arc into becoming an avatar was rushed (she just saw the bs that Marc went through and accepted), and Harrow was actually pretty damn good but should’ve been caught by the other gods Edit: think it either should’ve had more episodes (first few focusing more on street crime and then uncovering the cult and some more later for Layla becoming an avatar) or just a movie only about Marc vs Steven evolving into acceptance and eventually rebelling against Khonsu while being forced to be the judge, jury, and executioner of crime
I think phase 4 should have focused all on the effect of the blip and not try to introduce other hero’s who we do not care about. That’s why I think that phase 4 should be, Spider-Man far from home, wandavision, falcon winter solider, Shang chi (Just a good movie to add a new character) Hawkeye, Spider-Man no way home, doctor strange and black panther (maybe Thor love and thunder if he griefed Loki).
That's literally what phase 4 was though. An exploration of the new universe post-Blip. The stories were about grief, loss and dealing with change and mortality. Covid was the only thing that caused the whole saga to feel lesser because it meant scenes had to be changed to accommodate social distancing. People are crying as if the universe is somehow ruined because we got a fun little series exploring street level characters like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk aimed at demographics outside of the white neckbearded entitled manbabies that keep crying that Mephisto wasn't behind the events of Wandavision/MoM.
Yes yes, I just wanted to see people deal with the blip: the people they've lost, the misplacement of people after the blip. Like how Hawkeye couldn't handle the Steve musical because he'd lost Natasha, Tony and maybe Cap. Peter dealing with losing Tony and people questioning who will be the next Iron Man and expanding on that. The heroes dealing with the loss of other heroes and maybe how bringing back people wasn't all great. You know how Steve talks about how the water is cleaner? Maybe they deal with what seems like the worst state the world has ever been cause they hasld gotten used to the world having half the people, you know? I don't know, I just think that so many interesting stories could've been told instead of the majority of stuff that we got.
Honestly guardians 2 is my favourite marvel film. It has every single character going through such an incredible in depth emotional journey and coming out as actually better people in the end. It really touched me emotionally.
yet they're aware of literally everything else, which bugs me, also I have the same complaint about Ms Marvel being such a huge Captain Marvel fan...how do the public know her enough if she showed up briefly twice on Earth.
Maybe its just been a while since I've seen Love and Thunder, but I feel that you might have simplified Gorr's motivation a bit too much; he's not just angry at his daughter dying, he's angry at the entire system of all-powerful gods who can throw around people's lives on a whim. Bringing his daughter back wouldn't prevent all the other awful things that gods have done.
It's hard for me to see motivation more powerful than saving the life of my child... so the mere fact that he switched up so quickly from saving my daughter to all gods must die while immediately forgetting that he could save his daughter until the very ending of the movie weakened Gorr as a character... And it's been a huge criticism by many other ppl.... Also Gorr in comics is a huge character, not a 1 movie throw away villain... Oh well
@@claudewinters2091it had to have been the sword that took over his mind. The sword is sentient and chooses its owner and he just sort of flipped when he got it. It's the only thing that makes sense
I think the knowledge from „what if“ makes age of ultron even greater… its almost some kind of horror just to imagine what could have happened if ultron got what he wanted
Is nobody going to mention that the government tried to freaking NUKE Manhattan?! And then blame the Avengers for all of the people they’ve endangered!
In MoM Wanda can’t go to a universe where her children are orphaned because she doesn’t know how to look for a universe like that since she doesn’t dream of it. You can only dream about your alternative versions that are alive in other universes. I don’t think Wanda looked for Visions simply bcuz deep down she knows he wouldn’t approve of her methods. I mean she stated how her children would never know what excactly took place indicating that she understands the toll that this might take on them if they were to ever find the truth about her. Also we clearly saw how perceptive Vision was in WV about the hex so I’m sure he would be able to tell that she wasn’t the Wanda from his universe.
She is being corrupted by the Darkhold. How does everyone miss that detail? The whole point of the Evil Strange in that ruined universe as well as the 838 Strange that Black Bolt executed is that they both used the Darkhold, and 838 Strange caused 2 realities to die by dreamwalking. With the Darkhold now being gone thanks to Wanda, main Strange is safe from it's corruption, getting away with just the curse of having his 3rd eye & choosing to face the consequences of his use of the Darkhold by joining Clea to help her undo the incursion he caused, in the mid credits scene.
While I do have problems with Captain Marvel film, I 100% disagree about the "I have nothing to prove" line since she is telling this to the guy who lied and manipulated her through her whole life, making her feel that she needed to obey the Supreme Intelligence and the Kree in order to be special (no different from abusive relationship), that she couldn't do anything without their permission. Her in the end just blasting him rather than fighting by his terms, is Carol finally letting clear she is done with Yog Rogg crap. She doesn't need the Kree approval to be brave and special. She can and is all those things by her own choice.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom Yeah, she such popular member that her team decide to kill her with no hesitation. Such star (sarcasm) They didn't care at all for Carol, as long she fighting on their side, using her powers for their cause. They saw her as weapon not as person. Also, she was cocky but never to point of being unlikable arrogant, having some very nice moments with her supporting cast and I can see her overconfidence becoming somehting the future sequels can work with it.
I guess the best compliment to the acting in Endgame is that I never even stopped to realize how good it was because I genuinely forgot that it wasn't real at times, like with your example of Tony telling Cap that he lied.
Another detail about the first Avenger film: Much like She Hulk and Civil War, this film is also meta-reference/critic to super hero film at the time, since most of them were trying to just copy Nolan's Batman, being realistic, dark and gritty. The scenes between Fury and those goverment representatives in shadows is basically Marvel Studios (Fury) interacting with other studios (the guys in the shadow), who claim how the idea of super hero team will not work. Coulson being fan Captain America makes him a representation of comic book fan, with his line of "people might needing of old fashion" basically the movie turning to the audience and saying "Not every film needs to be a TDK 2.0. Sometimes it's good to just be a simple classic super hero film".
Not really. Even if it wasn't the writers intention, they adress the points I just said. The fact the whole film is questioning if the Avengers will work or not is basically meta commentary on the idea of super hero team, build from previous films, something that never done in movies before.
@@alexandrefrauches132 totally has nothing to do with the film being an adaptation of a comic that came a decade before, totally NOT that. MCU dick riders truly are something special
This video was great, but you completely missed the mark on Gorr. His wish wasn’t just to get revenge for his daughter, his wish was to guarantee the gods could never hurt another person again by wishing them all away.
Sees him put FFH, Loki, Gaurdians 2, and MOM so low (or on Lokis case, not in the top 10): How Dare y.... Then sees him give Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, NWH, and Eternals the love they all deserve: All is forgiven.
The greatest quote/dialogue exchange in all of the MCU for me will always be in the first Avengers when the old man stands up to Loki when he tells them to kneel. (I would also say that the one good thing about Thor The Dark World is how it continued to show Loki does care about his family deep down by having that scene where Thor goes to his cell after their mother dies and at first, Loki is using an illusion to make it look like he's fine, but when he lets the illusion fall, he's a complete mess.)
Loki was my favorite show but I gotta agree with you on the infinity stones scene. I think infinity war was so so good because everything, like literally everything from the comics decades ago up to the release of the movie had a set ceiling of power, and that ceiling was the infinity stones. The second you have that scene in Loki, it nullifies that ceiling and makes the power scaling a complete mess
It doesn't really nullify the ceiling though. The Infinity Stones are still the most powerful objects within the universe they're from, but they only work within their native universe. They're useless outside of their own universe, which is why they don't work in the TVA, which exists outside of normal time and space. There was a JLA/Avengers storyline where Darkseid tried to use them, but couldn't because he took them outside of the main Marvel universe. This is lore from the comics, as well.
honestly, while I don't agree with everything here, Seeing someone else say such high praise for Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel is so refreshing! They're my top two favourite MCU things (Ms Marvel is 1st, Hawkeye is 2nd and Age of Ultron is 3rd because it was my first MCU movie and Hawkeye was the best part of it)
My phone started playing this while I was at work and honestly his assessments of basically calling every single movie boring or stupid annoyed me but god that absolute worse thing that took me over the edge were those rankings I don’t think he even consumed all the contents with these rankings there’s no way
I fully agree. Once he put eternals so high in his ranking I realized this guy didn’t really pay attention to these movies. Like fine you don’t have to think eternals is bad but to say it’s better than 90% of the other movies is just crazy to me. I get it’s a opinion but wow. Maybe he hates the multiverse so much because all the versions he saw of these movies were shitty versions from another universe.
Also I can’t believe he put eternals in the top 5 but I actually don’t disagree. Looking back that movie is severely underrated and I hope it pays off in the future!
Feige wanted to get rid of Terrence Howard cause of two reasons: One. Terrence Howard was asking for too much money to be in the sequels and wanted a share of the profits like was offered to RDJ and 2. Feige just didn't like him cause Howard was being too stand offish with Feige and told Feige where he wanted Rhodey to go and not to go
What I will say about Falcon and The Winter Soldier… Bucky has murdered sooo many people and has previously been the public and global face of terror, he’s just not a good option for Captain America right now. He still has a lot of unpacking to do. Sam is the much much better option. Even before he was a “superhero”, he was helping veterans, he’s a good person by nature. He was also Steve’s choice, one Bucky approved of because he knew he wasn’t the right man for the job himself. Also, I agree that Eternals is a really good movie that asks very interesting questions that most people just seemed to not pick up on, it’s also so visually beautiful.
Agreed, I don't get this whole "Bucky was friends with Steve first." It sounds childish IMO. Sam was also Steve's friend, not a stranger. They just met at different times, but they also went through things together. As you said Steve picked Sam and that also fits with the comics as well. Not that it needs to be a 1-to-1, but this fits here.
You're crazy for not appreciating WandaVision. It's the best thing the MCU did. Okay it didn't set up Multiverse of Madness, but that's really a failing on MoM's part. Still, great video. Nice to see someone else actually realise Mantis needs some appreciation!
Werewolf by Night is my favorite Disney+ show. It was the most fun to watch and it didn't feel like they stretched a two hour movie into 6-8 hour long episodes like everything else they've done
I like Stan Lee in the picture. I grew up reading marvel comics and I got some good advice. "With Great power comes great responsibility." Good Advice that a lot of people in Important places can learn from. Some good stories and good fun. And reading them and the values that were there. I really think I'm a better man because I wanted to be like my hero's thank Mr. Lee. Excelsior.
40:27 I honestly loved this direction for Thanos and it makes a lot of sense. Thanos on the surface has a noble goal, but in reality, he is someone who really wants control. He has an idea of what is right, and he will kill anyone to get there. When the Avengers are about to ruin his plans, he wants that control again. In his eyes, If no one will listen he will force it upon everyone, the same thing he does in Infinity War.

Eternals, Ms.Marvel, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk great? For me they are not even half-decent or 'underrated' to begin with and are easily on par with Captain Marvel. So I strongly disagree about it but I respect your opinion. Anyway, for the most part everything else you say is spot on mate.
I agree with your opinion of the guy here. CPT MARVEL; SHE HULK; ETERNALS & maybe Hawkeye were utter rubbish. Also Wanda Vision. But everything else i was down with
In Loki, there isn't an infinite number of branches, because the other universes (the multiverse) wasn't opened yet. The TVA and sorcerers know this because the TVA's leader founded the TVA and stopped the multiverse, and sorcerers draw their power from the multiverse, but can't access it until the events of Loki unfold. When He Who Remains dies is the time when the multiverse opens and we see the other branches forming. That's why from there we get What If...?, Multiverse of Madness, No Way Home, and so on. That's the piece I think you missed and may be why you are slightly confused or don't like Loki.
@craigime yes, so if you listen to He Who Remains Dialouge, he says that his other form Kang, was part of the multiverse, multiversal war, but then HWR and the TVA came in and created the sacred timeline, the only accessible universe. When the events happened in the finale where they cross the threshold and Sylvie kills HWR, you can see the branches or the other universes (Multiverse) opening back up. When I say open back up, meaning that they can bow affect each other leading to What If..?, No Way Home, and Multiverse of Madness. Kevin Feige even explains it better in the interview for MofM and stuff
To stop the multiverse Kang would need in infinite number of workers, though. It would be fine if such were machines or concepts, but they were normal ass people. So still a shitty concept.
Curious to see this list updated with the "additions" of Secret Invasion, Quantumania, the Marvels, Guardians 3, Guardians Holiday Special, and Deadpool & Wolverine.
You should watch Amazing Spider-Man movies, Andrew is great as Spidey, and his chemistry with Gwen is just the highlight of both movies! They might be criticized and do have flaws, but overall they those movies are full of good and touching moments, so highly recommend, and would love to see your review!
@@thegoldman25 dude, you're missing out a lot by ignoring what if. It's the only phase 4 project I liked the most, especially that 4th episode, it was an absolute banger. There are some stuffs that's completely illogical, but those are some great stories
Great video! I'm really glad you praised the Hawkeye series so much since I often see others just glossing over it or downright calling it bad and I myself enjoyed it A LOT! I'm by no means saying other opinions are invalid but it's really nice to hear someone appreciating the show as much as I do lol
All the new phase 5 stuff I consider like a stepping stone into the multiverse saga, and for people comparing the first 4 phases of marvel and the new phase 5 stuff coming out give it time they connect everything together like they did in phase one. Everybody is so quick to judge the content coming out of marvel and Disney but were getting it so quick that its doesn't even matter before we get maybe two movies a year now were getting three to four shows and movies every year and they know where theyre actually going with it, most of phase 1 was literally them winging it and hoping it sticks.
I agreed with everything you said except She-Hulk. Not in a disrespectful way. I’ve always had a love for Hulk since I was a kid and loved the 2008 movie. I love the whole story of Bruce coming to terms with it in Endgame and with Jennifer it feels like she kind of shits on him too much. Being ignorant to the fact that even if she didn’t have to put it all the same effort he did. He had to do A LOT of work. The whole world looking at him as a monster all the while the full force of the military is constantly trying to be up his ass. And then she comes in and figures it out and then does kind of get humbled. I just wish the writing was better. But every other opinion (especially about Hawkeye) I 100% agreed with. I love this video
1:06:14 How hard was it to emphasize or even symphasize with people who were victims of colonization. The entire reason they are the way they are is BECAUSE of that
When tony sacrifices his life in avengers endgame, I’m reminded of when the doctor that died in iron man 1 that told tony to not waste his life. It also tied up tony’s story and his arc from iron man 1 to avengers endgame. I was 11 when I first saw iron man 1 in 2008 and in my 20’s when I saw avengers endgame. I haven’t seen any of the moves yet in phase 4 of the MCU. As a person who grew up with marcel and DC when I was 4 or 3 years old in 2000 or 2001 and as well as read comics as a kid and one of the things improving my English and reading, I was emotionally invested in the MCU and avengers endgame and infinity war when the movies came out. I have seen almost all of phase 1 to phase 3 before phase 4 happened.
It's nice to see a non comic nerd have a retrospective on the MCU It's refreshing to not here 《it was better in the comics》line especially since I don't read them great job!!
One thing about age of Ultron that a lot of people look past when they say that Ultrons motivation doesn’t make sense, is that he is hugely influenced by Christianity. He uses numerous biblical references and is even met in a church, and it makes sense for him to be aggressively Christian because he learned all he knows from the internet. Because he is Christian, it makes sense for him to try to nuke the world, because that is something that the Christian god definitely would do
Lowkey, the most memable thing about when i watched the hulk was "wait... is that supposed to be bruce? That's not mark ruffalo" and the static on the TV, presumably from it being an old CRT and trying to go out
The Loki thing didn’t bother me because I felt it was clear the infinity stones were taken out of their universe. In the tva they don’t have any power because it’s outside time. Loki’s powers were the same. They just didn’t work in the TVA
I don’t really get why a lot of people say thanos was ruined in endgame when he was just frustrated that his work will always be undone so he decided he had to restart the entire universe And for Peter trusting Beck, I don’t mind it. Mysterio “proved” himself a better avenger than the street level Spider-Man. And nobody thinks they’re using drones and holograms to look good Also I thought the sacred timeline was a select bunch or just one universe and anything else isn’t allowed. And after they kill Kang the multiverse is born. Cuz in Doctor strange there seems to be a select amount of universes, some unique and some similar. But after endgame it’s so much bigger
The one thing I can say for Iron Man 3, is that it’s one of the only post-Avengers movie that can explain why Tony didn’t call for help… because of his PTSD, his trauma, his need to fix everything himself Unlike CA:WS which can’t explain why they didn’t call Tony, the techn genious, or any of the others
If he would call Tony of others he would endanger them to Hydra, duh. He could only use what military of government-working buddies he had. Involving civilians would be a betrayal of them, incompetence and morally wrong thing to do too.
Ranking Black Widow above Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is crazy. The whole ending sequence with Yondus sacrifice and the Ravagers turning up and setting off the fireworks in space alone puts it above Black Widow.
I agreed with nearly everything you said until you got to the Eternals. Everything you liked about that movie is trumped by the premise that the Eternals avoid interfering even when there own life or the celestial life is at risk. That alone turned off numerous fans because marvel just gave us Eternals to squeeze them in for a future plot point

@@thegoldman25 yeh not nitpickin but it woulda been kinda sweet if you did both *DAREDEVIL & THE PUNISHER!* Those were awesome series/shows. Makes shows like *LOKI & HAWKEYE* look like *SESAME STREET!*

If you think AOU is mid, that's fine. It's your opinion. But some of the things you say about it are wrong. Cap, Thor, and Nat do have things to do in this movie. Cap is another argument to Tony and Ultron on how to save the world. While Tony wanted a preventive measure like Ultron (before he became evil) to do the job, or Ultron wanted to push the world into the next stage of evolution as he saw it. Cap argued that the Avengers were enough and helped Tony to see that by the end of the movie. "Like the old man said, together." Thor helped create Vision and brought the team together not only on beating Ultron but also warning of something else with the Infinity Stones. Natasha is haunted by her past as an assassin. Her flirting with Bruce was because she could relate to him by feeling like a monster herself. There is also thier vision scenes that shed more light on thier characters. Cap doesn't feel like he belongs in the present, Thor feels like his powers lead to destruction. Ultron's plan is also more complex than you described. He doesn't simply just wanna destroy the world to save it. He wants to help the world evolve because he views Ai like him the next stage of evolution that can defend themselves.
I am so glad to have found a reviewer that just does not like multiverse as a concept. I am totally with you there and have felt like an outsider for this saga when engaging with other fans. Especially when Loki came out and was being seemingly unanimously praised, I was flabbergasted cause I just did not see the appeal. I like most of your takes here except Eternals, number 3 is crazy high! I struggle to see how people can rate it so highly, even with your explanation in the video haha. Can't wait to see what you think of phases 5 and 6 and the saga as a whole now.
@@thegoldman25 lol, pretty much how i feel so far. I haven't checked out Secret Invasion yet, waiting for them all to be out before I start watching. So hopefully I like it and can make phase 5 have more i like than dislike
The one opinion I didn't agree with is that you don't intend to watch Daredevil. That show was phenomenal, and considering you gave Shang-Chi the "best hand to hand combat" award, you'll be heavily impressed by Daredevil.
For your point in The Winter Soldier about the Avengers not being there. How can they be able to come in to Washington and destroy the Helicarriers? Many of them couldn’t be available to stop HYDRA, because many were doing their own missions and if Cap tried to contact any of them, the mission to stop them would be compromised. They also didn’t have the time to call them once the Helicarriers were launched.
If you scrub through the video timeline, you can see that all the most replayed parts of the video are where he talks about the worst movies in the MCU. I swear people just love watching other people shit on movies, critiques and rants.
50:48 I’m a sucker for all these movies. Grew up in the 90s and there just weren’t good super-movies then. Save for 1 or 2. Thing about Black Widow that was frustrating was Nat spent several movies literally talking about “finding” a family with the Avengers. Died for them. Then it turns out she already had a family. And THATS who she was actually protecting… The little kid she spent 3 years with 30 years ago. Uh… OK. Ok?
Your criticism of Namor’s motivations being weak is a little off base. “Forced out like 500 years ago” is kind of dismissive because a lot of things that happened 500 years ago still have material consequences to this day. Just because the home that they made is beautiful doesn’t negate the fact that forced migration was a horrific trauma. They had no choice in whether or not they wanted to move. They were mutated whether they wanted it or not. And they could never return home. What about the people that they had to leave behind on the surface and could never see again? They made their own community but they are still forced to live apart from the rest of the world. Is that not isolating?
Iron Man 2 was amazing. Tony's arch was him going through mental health issues with panic attacks. I think that's incredibly realistic and relatable and these issues stay with him until Wanda expands it. Don't EVER besmirch Cap Jk no I get it, it kinda dragged a bit but he's been my favorite since I was 8 so I'm a bit partial. Blade was the first. Marvel definitely has an issue with main characters not calling in a coworker. Ant Man tried to pull a Guardians and there were great comedians but easily forgettable. If it weren't for Endgame, you could take the entire character out. But we love Paul. Great analogy for Thor 3 and 4. Couldn't have said it better myself. I'd argue that in Infiniti War, Thanos was the hero. It follows his journey on this quest that HE believes is the right thing to do. I love that it's told from his perspective with him as the victor in the end. He wasn't an all out villain out to destroy everything. He truly believed his intentions were righteous. If you take out all of the nostalgia, the second half of Endgame was trash and I should probably do a video about it but Fringy did an AMAZING 2 hr deep dive that literally shouts everything I've been complaining about in the video. Definitely check it out. Wanda wasn't being manipulated by anyone. She's just a villain. Bucky DEFINITELY should've been Cap. I love the bromance, it's done really well, but Bucky can stick around for longer and is A SUPER SOLDIER!! I hated Sylvie. Her attitude throughout the entire show was incredibly selfish and she didn't grow an inch. Three thumbs down. No, they never explained how there's not multiple TVAs ... which begs the question... how the hell did they not know about America Chavez?! Only 1 TVA, only 1 America, only 1 Watcher... how are they not all aware of each other? Unless, the TVA is isolated from other multiverses and are only pruning Kangs cannon time lines? But wouldn't thay still be considered multiversal? Idk, they also don't do a good job explaining the differences between multiverses, time lines, quantum realms... they kinda use them all interchangeably and that makes it harder to decipher if I'm just dumb or the writers are lazy. Eternals should've been a 6-8 episode show, not a movie. I think that's why people hated it. It was just way too much packed in, so much so that they didn't have enough time to explain WHERE THE HELL THEY WERE DURING INFINITI WAR... Yes, they claim they couldn't interfere with certain events (even though they totally did for the first few thousand years). But the only way for a celestial to be born, is for that planet to become overpopulated... Thanos held that off by who knows how many years? They absolutely should've intervened to stop Thanos so they could complete their mission. I mean, the whole reason why they were sent here was to protect humanity from them weird lookin dog things cuz they were eating up all the humans! Remember, Thanos was also an Eternal. Yes, he was born on Titan but to 2 Eternals, which cannot have kids but these 2 did and that made Thanos have the Deviant gene which is why he looks the way he does. They never explain this in any of the movies but they don't retcon it either so what they don't elaborate on, I go by comic cannon. And cannon says, Thanos was an Eternal. Remember when he told Gamora that he's the only one who understands? I think he was starting to go crazy like Thena and couldn't articulate what he knew to be true: Celestials are born of overpopulated planets and overpopulation causes poverty, which he experienced. So the only logical answer is to wipe out half of everything everywhere to save all the lives. Either 50% with Thanos or 100% with the Celestial. Pick your poison. For us old school comic fans, this movie kills our soul. I couldn't get through the first show. My issues with this show are longer than the above statement. Seriously I effin hate her existence. I did watch the entire season of She Hulk. I hated it. The real She Hulk doesn't demean men. You should read the comics. She's amazing in them. I didn't watch Black Panther 2... Now before you call the Black Delegation to take my Black Card away, hear me out: This was the introduction of Ironheart. Ironheart and Tony had a deep student/teacher connection. I couldn't bear to watch how they did this without him. And don't tell me that it's still good. I don't care. Tony's dead. There is no Ironheart. They should've just kept Peter as that retcon. I hate this. Everything else is absolutely spot on. I got to the end and have subscribed. Although I didn't agree with everything, you did a masterful job at putting this together and I respect and appreciate your thoughts on the phases❤️ Did u really read all of this?! Lol
Loved the video (especially the Eternals part), and I agreed with most of it, but I have to point out that "Doctor Strange Mulitverse of Madness"-arc where Stephen needs to prove he's good does come from somewhere, namely the show "what if". There, Stephen goes 'evil' I guess for wanting to bring Christine back after she died (in that universe that is). Honestly, "What if" was a better concept than the actual thing, but it introduced captain carter and evil Stephen, so if you want to have doc Strange 2 to be more built up, you could watch it

Eternals was one of the worst films I've seen period, it started off lazier than the last airbender in it's exposition, and it's big character introduction was Starfox, a SA'er.
Nice breakdown 👍 I agree it's a bit odd in the MCU that Kamala Khan is a Captain Marvel fangirl, but it's at the core of her comicbook character concept so what can you do.
I didn't agree with all of your opinions, but thank you for giving Shang-Chi the love it deserves.
Shan* ch8 is m6 favorite Macy movie
It was a solid movie for sure
Best new Solo Character! He should appear in someone else’s movie or show!
She hulk 🤢
Good points!
Agents of Shield showed how Fury had the helicarrier and did tie in loosely to phases 2-3

This puts his kingdom and people at risk, and he tries to get Wakanda on his side to present a United front again Western Colonial powers seeking to exploit their resources and people (as has been the case for the last 500+ years)
Furthermore, it doesn’t matter if they “moved somewhere much nicer”. They had to forcibly mutate themselves in order to leave their ancestral home since time immemorial due to being forced out by colonizers who enslaved those left behind. That’s what causes Namor’s hatred and the fear it’s about to happen again.
Damn, thank you John.
I was always confused about Namor's motivations esp towards Wakanda. Very easy how u did that.
Much thanks!
Well no namors issue was stating hidden , which is why we only see him involved when they made a vibranium detector and tried to kill the scientist who made , then halfway through he flips and wants to go on a first strike , defeating the purpose of staying hidden, his motivations don’t make sense
Man, that GotG2 segment hurt in a personal level and watching movies like Black Widow and Ant-Man2 gettin ranked higher was devastating
Agree. I love the character development in Vol 2.
Layla was nice but her arc into becoming an avatar was rushed (she just saw the bs that Marc went through and accepted), and Harrow was actually pretty damn good but should’ve been caught by the other gods
Edit: think it either should’ve had more episodes (first few focusing more on street crime and then uncovering the cult and some more later for Layla becoming an avatar) or just a movie only about Marc vs Steven evolving into acceptance and eventually rebelling against Khonsu while being forced to be the judge, jury, and executioner of crime
Great points!
@@Whiteythereaper yeah but no one liked she hulk or any of the other shows, and the intended demographics would agree with me.
Don’t try to introduce new characters, but introduce-
Honestly guardians 2 is my favourite marvel film. It has every single character going through such an incredible in depth emotional journey and coming out as actually better people in the end. It really touched me emotionally.
The ending of the film is pretty much the only emotional beat in an MCU film that I find genuinely moving. It's done so beautifully.
This mf put she hulk over vol 2.... Remember that.
I love guardians 2
But I hate how the only thing I remember Drax doing is saying innuendos every other line
It's Guardians weakest link, I'm sorry
show me where it touched you on this bear
@@JustatoadyallI agree about Drax, but it's a genuinely góod movie, and did everything right that they tried to rehash again in vol3
The reason why Tony didn't go to jail for his actions is probably because the world wasn't aware that Tony created Ultron from the mind stone
yet they're aware of literally everything else, which bugs me, also I have the same complaint about Ms Marvel being such a huge Captain Marvel fan...how do the public know her enough if she showed up briefly twice on Earth.
Maybe its just been a while since I've seen Love and Thunder, but I feel that you might have simplified Gorr's motivation a bit too much; he's not just angry at his daughter dying, he's angry at the entire system of all-powerful gods who can throw around people's lives on a whim. Bringing his daughter back wouldn't prevent all the other awful things that gods have done.
yes and he was also corrupted by the sword
@@isaaccclol”it doesn’t feel like a curse”
Lol this is a really good point
Frankly this was the most realistic depiction of the government ever. Politicians always do that, make things worse then blame others for that
In MoM Wanda can’t go to a universe where her children are orphaned because she doesn’t know how to look for a universe like that since she doesn’t dream of it.
She can and is all those things by her own choice.
this is a good point, you made me reconsider my take
That would've made sense if she's not already the star of Starforce, boastful to her human allies and keeping that attitude all the way to Endgame.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdom Yeah, she such popular member that her team decide to kill her with no hesitation. Such star (sarcasm)
They didn't care at all for Carol, as long she fighting on their side, using her powers for their cause. They saw her as weapon not as person.
Also, she was cocky but never to point of being unlikable arrogant, having some very nice moments with her supporting cast and I can see her overconfidence becoming somehting the future sequels can work with it.
Yeah, but she just blasts him in the start of the movie in the sparring scene that this calls back to, so it's still a nonexistent character arc
@@alexandrefrauches132 Her supporting casts exist just to enable her confidence. And yes, she did get unlikable in Endgame.
Your arms must be super long because that’s a reeeeeeeeeeeeeach
Keep reaching, until you realize why they greenlit the movie in the first place
You legit pulled that out of your ass lmfao
Apart from Eternals, I actually agree with most of the sentiment you feel about all those movies...even down to the detailed stuff. bravo.
I’m so glad Goldman didn’t just immediately diss every phase 4 film or show just because they’re not infinity war or endgame level. Great video!
You should watch Werewolf by Night! It's very refreshing for blandness that's been going on in the MCU lately.
I'm actually stunned by your views on She-Hulk. I watched several episodes and had to stop because the writing was simply awful.
Werewolf by Night is my favorite Disney+ show. It was the most fun to watch and it didn't feel like they stretched a two hour movie into 6-8 hour long episodes like everything else they've done

"I liked daredevil appearance"
I'm confused
I like Stan Lee in the picture. I grew up reading marvel comics and I got some good advice. "With Great power comes great responsibility."
Good Advice that a lot of people in Important places can learn from.

That's the piece I think you missed and may be why you are slightly confused or don't like Loki.
so the multiverse existed, but it just didn't "open" yet?

Phase 5 hasn't started yet
@Herb Coswell yall right
I agreed with everything you said except She-Hulk.
Totally fair! Thanks for watching!

Infinity war isnt very old, but it has so much nostalgia for me. Came out in my senior year of high school which was is full of really bright memories

The Loki thing didn’t bother me because I felt it was clear the infinity stones were taken out of their universe. In the tva they don’t have any power because it’s outside time. Loki’s powers were the same. They just didn’t work in the TVA
Good reviews! Like your content! I absolutely agree with Love and Thunder begging sad - it’s the only mcu movie I can’t bring myself to rewatch.
thank you!
Great video- really enjoyed it. Thanks for the work you do!
I don’t really get why a lot of people say thanos was ruined in endgame when he was just frustrated that his work will always be undone so he decided he had to restart the entire universe
And for Peter trusting Beck, I don’t mind it. Mysterio “proved” himself a better avenger than the street level Spider-Man. And nobody thinks they’re using drones and holograms to look good
Also I thought the sacred timeline was a select bunch or just one universe and anything else isn’t allowed. And after they kill Kang the multiverse is born. Cuz in Doctor strange there seems to be a select amount of universes, some unique and some similar. But after endgame it’s so much bigger
Vision explains why the sokovia accords are necessary in the movie (Civil War). “Our very strength invites challenge”
Ayyy he’s back again
I’m never gone! Always working!
“He’s evil for the sake of being evil.”

The one thing I can say for Iron Man 3, is that it’s one of the only post-Avengers movie that can explain why Tony didn’t call for help… because of his PTSD, his trauma, his need to fix everything himself
Unlike CA:WS which can’t explain why they didn’t call Tony, the techn genious, or any of the others
If he would call Tony of others he would endanger them to Hydra, duh. He could only use what military of government-working buddies he had. Involving civilians would be a betrayal of them, incompetence and morally wrong thing to do too.
Werewolf by Night is forever iconic!!! 🌕🐺
Ranking Black Widow above Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is crazy.
The whole ending sequence with Yondus sacrifice and the Ravagers turning up and setting off the fireworks in space alone puts it above Black Widow.
What If...? Is one of the best things the MCU has put out. If you had it included then I would have watched your video.
"watching it on [insert dubious substances] really hits differently" 😂😂
I agreed with nearly everything you said until you got to the Eternals. Everything you liked about that movie is trumped by the premise that the Eternals avoid interfering even when there own life or the celestial life is at risk. That alone turned off numerous fans because marvel just gave us Eternals to squeeze them in for a future plot point
This guy hasn't seen Daredevil Netflix series and he is giving his opinion of what makes a good superhero movie/TV show..... Bro! Daredevil is arguably the best superhero TV show ever made!
I haven’t seen everything!
@@thegoldman25 yeh not nitpickin but it woulda been kinda sweet if you did both *DAREDEVIL & THE PUNISHER!*
Those were awesome series/shows.
Makes shows like *LOKI & HAWKEYE* look like *SESAME STREET!*
I absolutely agree with you on how The Avengers was shot. It should have been 21:9 like the other movies.
Just discovered your channel. Great job! Enjoy how you review and not just react! Subscribed and looking forward to more videos.
Edit: just finished this video and you ranked Eternals 3? Wasn't expecting that! Don't agree but major props for putting it out there.. still subscribed.
Bro, REALLY?? The black soldier was simply, NEGLECTED??? WOW!
???
If there was a UA-cam channel stock market, I would spend my entire savings on this channel
This comment made my day, I hope I can prove you right!
@@thegoldman25 just promise me you’ll keep making content
He wants to help the world evolve because he views Ai like him the next stage of evolution that can defend themselves.
this video is fantastic
Thank you so much!
Ant Man 3 was ass. Guardians 3 was great
@@thegoldman25 lol, pretty much how i feel so far. I haven't checked out Secret Invasion yet, waiting for them all to be out before I start watching. So hopefully I like it and can make phase 5 have more i like than dislike
I agree with discounting the one shot but Werewolf was rlly good and defo qualifies as a film
The one opinion I didn't agree with is that you don't intend to watch Daredevil.
That show was phenomenal, and considering you gave Shang-Chi the "best hand to hand combat" award, you'll be heavily impressed by Daredevil.
I didn’t even realize that WandaVision was trying to do comedy 💀
For your point in The Winter Soldier about the Avengers not being there. How can they be able to come in to Washington and destroy the Helicarriers? Many of them couldn’t be available to stop HYDRA, because many were doing their own missions and if Cap tried to contact any of them, the mission to stop them would be compromised. They also didn’t have the time to call them once the Helicarriers were launched.
When Endgame was the halfway point of the video 😮
puts into perspective how big phase 4 is
If you scrub through the video timeline, you can see that all the most replayed parts of the video are where he talks about the worst movies in the MCU. I swear people just love watching other people shit on movies, critiques and rants.
interesting observation
What If is one of the nice gems of P4
Spider-Man will always be my favorite Marvel hero. The MCU will get better as long as he stays.
Most of your favorites, your phase 4 favorites anyway, I fell asleep first watch lol
I feel like you enjoyed phase 4 as a whole a lot..., which is rare to see these days...
FINALLY, ETERNALS MS MARVEL AND HALKEYE APPRECIATION, THANK YOU!
I’m keen to hear your thoughts on ANDOR as it’s now over so you can do a full video on its entirety
Don't EVER besmirch Cap
Jk no I get it, it kinda dragged a bit but he's been my favorite since I was 8 so I'm a bit partial.
Although I didn't agree with everything, you did a masterful job at putting this together and I respect and appreciate your thoughts on the phases❤️
Did u really read all of this?!
Honestly, "What if" was a better concept than the actual thing, but it introduced captain carter and evil Stephen, so if you want to have doc Strange 2 to be more built up, you could watch it
...so it comes from alternative universe Stephen that has nothing to do with a current one? Still a trash then.
You gotta watch what if season 1...well worth the watch

Eternals was one of the worst films I've seen period, it started off lazier than the last airbender in it's exposition, and it's big character introduction was Starfox, a SA'er.
It got so much better
Nice breakdown 👍
I agree it's a bit odd in the MCU that Kamala Khan is a Captain Marvel fangirl, but it's at the core of her comicbook character concept so what can you do.
