@@LosDoyerss Green looks bad in high sunlight? I would have never guessed. I'm still learning about green, knowing red. Does green actually affect ones night vision?
As a follow-up comment, don't all the military branches use green now, in about every application? Especially during the day in bright sunlight, and places overseas where there's not even any trees or clouds? Now I'm curious about this. Green vs red, if anyone else has anything else to chime in about comparing and contrasting the two?
Pretty funny how many high view count videos discuss the difference between red and green dots but do not actually show the viewer the difference. The video you made here is what people actually need to see!
You have helped me, add a +1 to those you have helped with your videos. between the 407k/507k and 510c video, I was able to compare reticles and whether my eyes like green or red. Thanks good sir!
I have a red dot, was considering an upgrade and didn't know if a green dot might be a better option for me. I'm starting to lean towards green. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks, great video. Fyi I don't care much for "professional UA-camrs." I'd much rather just watch an imperfect video from a regular person. Thanks again
I really appreciate the video. I've picked up several holosuns in person, and the green reticles (SCS and 507c) both have spring green colors to them. It's just my eyes, but they are always blurrier than red reticles/dots, and they starburst more. The 6MOA red has the cleanest reticle I've ever seen, with the fiber optic FireDot from Leupold being tied.
Thank you so much for this video. I am red and green color blind and was wondering which I would be able to see better. Definitely the green, not even close.
It helped me out. Was trying to figure out if I’d like the green or not. My vision has changed for the worse the past few years, going to put one of these on my carbine.
I have a green on the way. It will set on top of my hot rodded Windham AR. Thanks for the side by side comparison. I have a red HS510 on my CQB AR pistol.
Great video! The video did a good job showing the difference in color and brightness - the green definitely showed up more in the video. Because of the video, I bought both versions to try out and sadly the green just did not work well for me - it was starbuursting a bit too much for my eyes. Couldn't verify if it was due to my slight astigmatism or if it was due to the fact that I'm pretty green-colorblind... or maybe both issues combined to make the green just not as comfortable for my eyes to pick up. So for any of those out there who has astigmatism and is even mildly green-colorblind, red might work out best for ya! Edit: autocorrect issues
Great comparison. Thank for taking your time on each sight. The problem is I can't decide which one is better. The longer I look at them the more I like them both. Can't tell which I like better. I've got red on my rifles. Maybe I should stay with the same color. Thanks again.
@@ModestOutlaw Yeah, they are like 'unicorns ' currently... ordered the green 507Kx2 yesterday. Already have a red on an 'XL so at least it'll be familiar. Thanks.
Now that Holosun has taken battery life out of the equation with green I am changing many of my arms over to green. I perceive it far better than red regardless of background coloring.
Great comparison. Could you please expand on this with more videos, same optics, same everything ... just changing up the different backgrounds, light levels, and running through different (but the same level, side-to-side) optic-brightness settings? I'm still on the optic-cusp. Would be much appreciated!
Great video and focus with your camera so it didn't bloom the dot. Given me some thought as the green really pops on video but does it in real life as well. I think I may pick up a HS EPS Carry in green reticle for my Sig Sauer P365 XMACRO! Thanks!
I was wanting to go with the 510c green but i found the red one at a local shop for 260$ tax included so i just went with that. Great video tho maybe ill go green next time lol
Most green dot that I've had my hands on have a little redish tint (a little harder for human eyes to notice, thus clearer than the blue tint)...This 510C-GR, on the other hand, still manage to have blue-ish tint. It's weird. And not sure if it's just me, but 510Red seem to have less color tint than the green version...?
The red looks fuzzy to me, and the green looks more crisp. I have a nasty astigmatism, and looking for my first dot. After watching this I think I'll go with green. ty
astigmatism doesn't show up in videos, as you'll hear cameras don't have the condition. what your seeing, I think is just red doesn't work with your eyes as well as green. ( same with me )
Thank you boss!! Very helpful video… I’m still having a hard time deciding. Im a newbie…I do wear contacts for astigmatism and my rifle is just for home defense. I would think if I ever needed to use it (hope never) it would be in a dark home. Anyone have suggestions for me? Thank you.
Yes, I own lots of Holosuns. Think they are the best bang per buck on the market and for those that say they aren't battle proven check the pictures of Ukraine.
In the gold prospecting world it's a given that a green pan is the best color for a pan. There is tons of science used to get gold out of a river or rock and the color green was found to be the best color to highlight little specks of gold against.
Swtg I'm a bit colorblind so I thought the red version I bought today was greenish when I looked at it at first lol. Generally, prefer red for my environment but this red shade seems different to others I've owned, I like it though. For me its a negligible difference, I hear the arguments about green being easier for humans eyes but I don't know if that science applies to like bright green led shades. Also feel like we train ourselves to look for red irl (stop signs/lights). I generally buy what is cheaper but I do wonder if green would actually work better for me.
Do you find the green Holosuns have a better glass tint (less blue notch filter) than the red Holosuns? I inspected 5 or 6 of them at a store and that was my distinct impression. Not an enormous difference, but not a tiny one either. Noticeable.
Green is best for all human eyes because of biology…however, if you have astigmatism, you will likely have a strong preference for red or green. I personally can’t use green, it’s like an exploding star, the red is nearly perfect so try both
They have always been super crisp, one of the reasons I prefer projected dots. You probably have a small astigmatism or sand in your eye. Might be a bad projector, but seems it'd do it all the time. Might be a piece of dust or something blocking the light. Hard to tell online but I sampled a sightmark that was blurry to me, messes with your head 😆
It’s crazy how much clearer the green is given the mostly green foliage/background. Would have thought it would blend in too much
Yeah, it's a excellent option and super clear.
In bright sunlight green looks really bad. This demonstration is done in a low light setting.
Im sure a front sight to use as a co-witness would help in brighter condtions.

Thanks for the video man! I would have never thought the green would look so much more clear and defined. Going with green for sure.
Your welcome! The green definitely pops.
Seeing them side by side is huge. Great video, really appreciate this
Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve been racking my brain on trying to decide on green vs red 🙏
Thank you for the side by side. Great video. Just what I wanted to see to help make my choice.
Thank you, this was very helpful. The green was much clearer, it really popped and was more visible to my eyes, even against the green foliage.
This video was really helpful for me. Thank you so much! Simple and quick. Sometimes not professional is better.
A guy at a local store suggested green over red, but I wasn't sure. This video answered that question. Thanks!
This was a great video, I knew I was getting this optic, and you made the color choice that much easier. Definitely getting a green version.

I have red on my rifle also. I might just stick with it. Im thinking transitions might not be as smooth with a color change.
