Why are people being so snobbish?
So what if One Direction or Lorde is in the video? Does that make it any less credible or good? The Point of making it a mix is to appeal to all age-Groups. That gives it more attention and taht's what the BBC wants for the song/Project.
By saying "this or this is crap" excludes a lot of young people who in fact are the biggest consumers of music. It also makes it seem as if music is for a certian few or that music should only be for hipster types
This video shows different genres of music and how it all can mix together. And that in a way is what music is all about, to come together
So stop being snobbish get of your high horses and take it for what it is: A great song
Well said jaj.
PREACH
amen
I'm mean it's with the most FAMOUS singers so I'm not shocked one direction and lorde are in it
couldn't agree more, each of them give different color of vocals and music. You should post this comment on the music video too, there are a lot people thinking "what the hell this singer or that group doing", "they ruin it", etc. gaahhhhh...
I'm so impressed with how Lorde's wings came to be. It was a majestic scene and fitting for her.
Lorde. ♥
Yes if only she could/would cover it.
She MUST do the whole song!!!
It's so ignorant to bash this video because of the people in it or for what they sing outside of this miniscule performance. I'm not a fan of Lorde or One Direction but I love that they were in this video. It goes to show the power and respect for this masterpiece by Brian Wilson, so hating on this video would also be to hate Brian.
+Scott Utley You don't know Lorde? She's an australian singer, I think you her song "Royals"
Actually New Zealand!
Made me cry, I've been a Beach Boys fan since age 14, and Brian has been through it - so to have him recognized - with such an amazing song - makes me SO happy and grateful.
Also lifetime fan since age 14! Darlin' was and is one of my favorite memories listening in my bedroom as the 45 played on my first turntable! This production is an amazing homage to the genius artistic contribution Brian Wilson has given the world!
Where is Paul McCartney? When McCartney first heard the song, he called Brian Wilson telling him it was the most beautiful song he had ever heard. True fact.
Did not know that. Love it
PAUL IS DEAD!
Krijn van Alten Paul mcartney is not dead he's alive and well
Matthew Roth Learn to recognize sarcasm.
Krijn van Alten How you can be sarcastic ny saying someone is dead? That's not sarcasm that's stupidity and ignorance. You ptobably meant "non'
-active".
Can't we all just share a beautiful version of a beautiful song?
I approve of the amount of Brian May in this video ;)
Not to much, not to little... But just *right*
Bryce Earl There is never too much
@@ellielouise6247 very true very true
i know im being greedy but i would have loved adele in it too. great piece of work from the good old BBC.
Correct me if I'm working but I think that she's been M.I.A for a hit beside she injured her voice
GOOD THOUGHT.
ALSO CAN U EVEN IMAGINE AN OLD JOHN LENNON
AND FREDDIE MERCURY HELPING OUT ALSO.!?
God only knows what i'd be without ONE DIRECTION IN THIS VIDEO GREAT! LIAM I LOVE YOU
;)
Ami Abuawad nobody how rational you think you are being... you sound like a 5 year old fool. There I said it
Bryce Earl *no matter
@@earlbryce01 speak for yourself
@@earlbryce01 what is the most polite way I could say this... Ok. Educate yourself on music. It's not a category. It's art.
TPWK
Written and introduced circa 1965-66 still holds up today with it's simplicity, and melancholy sound! Well done!
Zayn was in 1:00 and liam was in 1:05 ❤️❤️
ZAYN AND LIAM 1:05
I'd love to hear each individual artists full rendition of the song, Chris Martin especially.
I love how the official music video and this "making of" clip both end with a shot of Brian Wilson. It all comes back to Brian and his songwriting genius. So perfect. 😊
I like how they had the song playing in real time throughout the documentary and edited the documentary elements to coordinate with the song.
It is liam
ONE DIRECTION!!!! 😍💞😘😜
one direction at 1:00 to 1:10
'Liam: This is the strangest thing' HAHA
I thought it was a great collaboration. I'm very glad that Brian agreed to do it, he wrote an incredible song and that should be recognized. He's a great songwriter.
can we stop talking about one direction on the song and start talking about one direction working together with brian may and lorde and elthon john and stevie wonder etc please?
Some of the best artist of all time singing one of the coolest songs! Big love for Pharrel and Chris Martin ❤️
Beautiful song. I know it from Love Actually where it had the same effect of bringing everyone together and spreading love and joy. :) Truly beautiful!
BRIAN MAY !!! GUITAR ! QUEEN !
no freddy mercury is in queen, do you know nothing?
So nice, isn't it? :D
Brian May is in Queen as well... Do you know nothing?
One Direction😊
Fantastic! It's wonderful to hear this treatment of such a beautiful song - and it's a great reminder of all the exceptional artists we have been lucky to have in our lifetime.
Brian Wilson is a genius, i think that's what this proves. he wrote this amazing song that is still beloved so many decades later and created such a unique sound with the Beach Boys that is hard to duplicate
1:05 LIAMM
For whatever your beliefs, a beautiful song of the Beach Boys that I always feel it isn't about God but about the beauty of people that we are thankful to have in our lives and makes a difference in our world. "The Love Of Music"
They should do one song every year... or every two years. A brilliant construct. Never remember Brian having a tiger on his piano in the 60s....but he has now!
This really got to my core. Thanks to all.
PS God bless Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. Love it. Love it. Love it!
I’ve been a Beach Boys fan since 1964 and what strikes me the most is how the BBC chose an American song, rather than a British one. Cheers BBC, please do more, this was exceptional.❤
AND ONE DIRECTION ?!
Exacto!
zayn en el min 1:00 y liam en el 1:05 XD
Posta!!!!
I feel like all of us are asking the same thing....WHERE IS ONE DIRECTION😂😂😂
No sorry not all of us are asking where they are
Beautiful, well constructed, wonderful arrangement.
is a great song , but the only thing i don´t like is that they used dave grohl just to say "God only Knows..."
and Jake Bugg to say nothing but some "Ahhh, laa, laaa"
You're right. It should have been "Grohl only knows".
Yeah definitely Dave is like a god in this video and Jake should've had more singing part :(
smeghead1001 Tienes razon
Everyone had just one line. There were too many people in the group for anyone to have more. As it is they had to do a lot of vamping at the end to get everyone in.
Liam Payne in the studio thingyyyyyyyyy
I love this production.Fabulous.
Everyone is so very talented! I really like this a lot.
Everyone came for 1D
Men came for Brian Wilson
❤❤❤
Love love love how you included one direction
BBC Music absolutely brilliant!
Liam at 1:05
Nice to see the choir are from Teesside, my area.
I always loved this song.
I love this video! This is interesting to see how it was made A+++
I can't wait for human evolution to catch up to why Lorde belongs in this video with Stevie Wonder, Brian May, and Brian Wilson. She's going to be so awesome to watch grow into a great artist. Her refinement knows no bounds. Bravo to Lorde.
one phrase...you nailed it!..
more behind the scenes?? wiv 1d in?
1997 springs to mind- Perfect Day!
One Direction 💋💋💋💋
❤
This touched me to my very core.
BBC did a great job on a great song.
1:04 zayn and Liam?
Florence ♥
Well done! Love the video and really appreciate the behind the scenes footage as well.
1:09 and 1:26 The Hero and Genius of Music!!

*lorde you mean? :\
Awash Alnaqeeb Lorde
*lorde you mean
ha?!!
lol yeah me too
This is just a beautiful idea. #fortheloveofmusic
Beautiful, so very beautiful!
Lorde had the best spot and line from the song and she nailed it. Not a huge fan of hers but she did great.
Twenty-plus viewings, and I only just now realized that Lauren Laverne is a ghost, or spirit, smiling in the balcony. There’s almost certainly a cultural reference to her work that I’m missing, but it doesn’t matter; it’s just a wonderful moment, especially for being so fleeting.
It’s as universal a visual image as the song is a musical epiphany.
Every time I see this, I see something new, and every time I hear this song, I feel reborn.
OMG NO I REMEMBER THIS NOW! All the old people had a problem with One Direction, Sam Smith and Lorde in it! They wanted people they knew which is so shitty because it was reaching out to different music for a reason
Zayn 1:00?
Oksana Pozdnyakova yes
Dr. Brian May...need I say more!!!!!
It has been said that Michael Jackson was a musical genius, but MJ never composed, produced, written or directed any of his music, he was of good singer and had wonderful stage presence, but other people did the hard work to make him look good. On the other hand, Brian Wilson is the true musical genius, who is very under-rated, but I think people (including generations who were not familiar with The Beach Boys), found him again & saw the true genius behind this man when he redid “God only knows” for the BBC and included all different music people in it to lend their voices, great collaboration. He had great vision with this remake‼️
Just BBC could make this, thank you!
1:06 looks like liam-
It is liam
I love how they did Lorde
This was magical. Done
I'm only here for 1D ❤
Same here🆔❤️
The only people I recognized in the video was Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Brian Wilson and Jools Holland who was England's version of Dick Clark. He's been around about 200 years. :)
Kylie is just simply splendid!
1:05 Liam?
lorde
Brian Wilson!!!
WHERE ARE ONE DIRECTION?!? They were a part of the Video, too! Everybody appears once except Zayn,Harry,Niall,Louis (Liam is in 1:06) !!@#$%`-*
Brilliant song and video by the BBC. Well done to all involved. Shame the behind the scenes video was complete rubbish (as so many are). Would have been nice to see more of how they filmed so many different elements and see the special effects team at work more.
MIND BLOWING!!!!!!!!!
Oh my!!!!! 1:28. Awesome!!!!!
Uuugh, po faced director bloke dropped the "journey" bomb
Why they showed only Zayn and Lima separately...they shiuld have shown them all 😭
Totally AWESOME!!!
One of the best songs ever written. Co written and produced by the master Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. He gave the lead to his younger brother Carl 19 at the time who also had lead on Good Vibrations. It's great to see other 'artists' although 1D I don't consider artists but appeal to younger audiences, coming together with an amazing composition. Brian is shown at the beginning and end which is respectful to the great man :)
fuck off with the shit talk about one direction, you're so ignorant to say that they aren't artists
Danielle Rickard Silly little boy
Danielle Rickard No need to get all aggressive about it. 1D are craftsmen, and pretty good at what they're doing, but since they are neither writers, nor composers, one could easily argue that they aren't "artists".
***** They may not be composers, but 1D are definitely writers. They've written their latest 2 albums and co-written on previous albums, and have written for other artists. Also, if they're craftsmen, that makes their craft singing, correct? And singing is considered an art form. There you have it. Artists.
Jane Meilinger They are manufactured with no skills in playing instruments or composing music. Basically they are dummies for record companies. Likeable lads but just a male version of the spice girls and girls aloud. In modern times they aren't in the same league as Coldplay.
One direction ❤️💜
❤
Thanks!
Good job, BBC!
I loved the song!
Simply love this
T H A N K
Who remembers the BBC's version of Perfect Day that brought Lou Reed, Boyzone and Dr John together?
Bravo !!!
