thank you for visiting Myanmar. it was a peaceful country over the last 5 years during Aung San Su Gyi and her party ruled democratically. However sadly after the coup since the military took the power and thrown the elected government in Feb 1, 2021 the country has been collapsed. Thousand and thousand of people lost their lives. And of lots people have flee and left everything behind for their lives. Pray for peace in Myanmar.

You stayed at one of the best top 10 hotels in Yangon, Myanmar. The danger is mostly for journalists, and if you travel outside of the cities - there is conflict in outlying zones which are currently contested (has existing armed conflict) and if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yangon is still mostly under control of the junta, and they won't bother most tourists as long as you do touristy things. Thank you is "Jay-zoo tin bar de". The Lady is called "Aung San Suu Kyi" - "Kyi" is pronounced "Gee".

Thank you so much for visiting Myanmar! Your video was very insightful and captured many aspects of Yangon beautifully. It’s great to see you enjoyed your stay at the Pan Pacific and the Lotte Hotel. They are indeed among the nicest places to stay here.
I appreciate you sharing the historical and cultural context of Myanmar, though I hope future visitors will also see the resilience and warmth of the people amidst the challenges we face. Our country has a rich and complex history, and it's important for visitors to be aware and respectful of the current situation.
I’m glad you enjoyed the local cuisine. Tea leaf salad (lahpet thoke) and mohinga are indeed some of our beloved dishes. It’s always interesting to see how foreigners perceive our food and traditions.
If you visit again, I recommend also exploring some lesser-known places like the local tea shops, hidden markets, and maybe even taking a day trip to the ancient city of Bagan to see the thousands of pagodas there.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I hope more people get to see the beauty of Myanmar through your eyes. Safe travels!

$48 for a 60 min of massage is not a steal but it's considered a big rip-off in Myanmar. These days with the current USD->MMK exchange rate, you can typically get a 60min of massage for about $2 or $3 including tips even in the downtown area of Yangon.

....60 hour massage?! Do you mean 60 minutes? That is like $80 in the states. $48 is not bad. I would feel bad only paying $3. Maybe I should vacation here.

    • @betserv.1187

@@pbabiesinspace6112 sorry. I meant 60min (1hr). In the states, it can cost around $80+tips depending on where you live. Now, due to hyperinflation of the Myanmar local currency, it typically costs around $2 or $3 per hour. Previously, during the civilian government administration, it costed around $6-$8 per hour. Rent and service fees are currently at the lowest level which you can now take advantage of.

    • @saithway969

The reason why Myanmar is called the Golden Land is that Myanmar is a Buddhist country and has many golden pagodas. The golden rice paddies of Myanmar, the bright and friendly smiles of the Myanmar people, etc. are called the Golden Land. For example, take a look at Yangon's iconic Shwedagon Pagoda.

I have some feelings when I look at travelogues. Especially in the form of a video of your visit to Myanmar.
Every time I watch the videos of UA-camrs visiting Myanmar, I have some feelings. People's lives are different. I was born in Myanmar and I live in Myanmar. But I haven't been there yet, and every time I see non-Myanmar foreigners living and eating in luxury hotels and luxury places in Myanmar. The lord of money is smiling and laughing at me. Money is something wrong with me. Life is so hard for me. Some people can make me happy because of their behavior. So, I don’t give a damn on this life and money. You’re so beautiful.

Based on the current situation, would you say that it is possible to travel Myanmar entering from Thailand and leaving at the Indian border? Planning to go to India after my travels in South East Asia/China and I'm researching the possibility of going through Myanmar towards India

I haven’t been to the area near the boarder but I don’t think you would have any problems.

If you don't mind war zones, of course. That border is not open for foreigners, in any case.

Borders are not allowed to pass easily for everyone in this situation. The safest plan is to travel by plane from Yangon to India after visiting some places in Myanmar. I hope you will be okay. Have a safe trip.

Hi, what is the military presence like in Yangon? Did they stop you at any point in public? I want to visit next month but everyone is saying it’s unsafe!

We didn’t get stopped at all, they are there but we didn’t notice them stopping tourists.

@@EscapewithEmily11 thanks for the reply, good to know! Did you feel intimidated or threatened by the military at any point? Would you say it’s OK to visit at the moment based on your experience? Trying to gauge whether my trip is doable…

@@PurpleRicex from my experience it felt like any other country in southeast Asia. We didn’t have any problems at all and it was 100% safe for us, but everyone’s experience is different. Military was there but they didn’t ask any questions and basically just left us alone.
