Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 бер 2024
- Here's how to draw a realistic-looking fried egg and eggshell with coloured pencils. This is a full step-by-step coloured pencil tutorial designed for you to follow along with, that will take you from blank piece of paper to finished artwork!
MATERIALS YOU'LL NEED
- A set of coloured pencils. I use a set of 36 by Faber-Castell Polychomos.
- Grey paper. I use Strathmore grey drawing paper. - A sharpener, and eraser.
- I also use a white pen for some finishing touches (such as a Posca marker) or you could use white acrylic/gouache and a small brush).

Fixed for me at least. Thank you.
Eggs-cellent way to shell out the instruction.
Haha that cracked me up
Hi, just followed your instructions & after 2 days have completed with your super teaching the egg & shell. Thanks very well taught.
Wow!
same thing I wanted to comment!
Phil, your teaching is so good. I had limited colour pencils and I am so pleased with my result. I learnt a lot from this session alone. Thank you.
Looks great. A list of the actual colour of pencil used upfront would be really useful, especially if colour matching, but thanks for sharing your tutorial.
I agree with you about using a paper with some color to it. White isn't interesting, or its harsh sometimes. I wonder what you think of a warmer tone than grey for some work, like a light tan or ivory, parchment looking? Sometimes I like the more creamy look. Does grey give some better advantage than those?
Thanks for fixing the download. I need to give this a shot.
I don't normally like still-life works and much prefer animals/birds, but I do appreciate what you do. I also don't have any coloured pencils except pastel pencils so not sure if I will try this with them. However, it's always interesting watching you work the different shading etc. Thank you.
UPDATE - I bought some cheap Faber-Castell Eco pencils from a charity shop for a ridiculous price of £2,50. I have done the pear now, three times, and they turned out OK, apart from one on Ingres paper that leaves lines cutting through the pear. Full of confidence then I had a go at this and a bit of a disaster. My egg shell was too dark and the egg itself wasn't as tasty looking. I wonder again if it was the paper, Strathmore 400 grey mixed media. I had to press on quite heavily to get the white to work at all. It doesn't look too bad, I guess, but not happy with it.
It has convinced me to get some decent pencils now though, maybe Prismacolor or FBs, not sure yet.
I downloaded the reference photos but couldn't open them. This looks great by the way.
I am also having problems with the reference photos. I have tried downloading on my iPhone, and by using the Firefox, Chrome, and Edge browsers as well as Instagram. I just get the 'photo currently unsupported' message. I seems there is an issue with the original files. Many thanks though Phil for the excellent tutorial.
I too, am having the same problem with the egg and the eggshell. I can’t save the jpg, nor open in in Instagram.
I seem to be having problems accessing the reference pics.
Hi Phil! Since the links are not working, I wanted to offer this: I have these fried egg references from the ArtTutor that I can send you so you can correct the links there. OK?
Can not open Jpeg file
The download links does not work!
The downloads are not working. Error message. Sorry, Photos can't open this file because the format is currently unsupported or the file is corrupted. I also tried photoshop and the pictures show as blank.
The files act like they’re downloading and I get a file but it’s blank and zero
