    Slight correction on the St. George vodka: they use a non-gmo corn neutral grain spirit base that they blend with some of their pear distillate.

    The word "spirits" in distilled beverages actually comes from the actual processing of the liquids turning to "vapour" or "gas", going up the steaming pipe, and back on the other side as "liquid" again...but now as "purified" liquid.
    ...
    Solids+liquids > Liquid > vapour/gas/steam > purified liquids > flavour/distillation = SPIRITS

    Great video lui. Would be great if you could make a video debunking or confirming myth that additive free tequila rubbing on hands doesn't leave sticky residue

      The typical sprit in Colombia is Aguardiente, which is made from sugarcane that has a strong anise flavor.

    this is an awesome video
    still don't know how i got here, but I'm staying for a drink
    working on getting my tequila stash up to par now
    also, if you have already done so, can you do a video on resort/ vacation tequilas, please?
    espolon, jimador, cazadores, luna azul or any other ones resorts/ hotels may offer
    even good tequilas you can find going through duty free in the airport

    One interesting thing I learned about the history of Gin is that it was originally created by monks in the Middle Ages as a Plague medicine. And of course, over time, it started being treated more as a beverage than a medicine.

    • @Lui_Fern
      @Lui_Fern  5 місяців тому +1

      So many spirits share this origin! I have always found it utterly fascinating as well.

      @@Lui_FernI also enjoyed that story of how the term Spirit came to be, in reference to distilled alcohol. I always thought it was because the alcohol evaporates and goes airborne (in a still of course), and hence it went became a chemical spirit. Sort of like how distillers use the term Angel’s Share in reference to alcohol that evaporates through the barrels in a rickhouse during the barrel aging process.

    First, great video. Second i hope this doesn't offend you. You missed something, i know a little about. Just to make it super short, Mead is one if not the oldest alcohol in the world. Mead isn't beer or wine as its fermented with honey which is neither grain or fruit.

    • @Lui_Fern
      @Lui_Fern  4 місяці тому +2

      Yeah. You right. I missed mead. I should've talked about it. It wasn't first on my mind because not many bars (at least around me) carry it. But nonetheless, I did miss it

    I thought amaro was always Italian. Sure, similar products are made in other places around the world, but they shouldn't be called amaro. I wonder how that american product you had can call themselves amaro... Great video!
