  • Simply having something to eat is not enough. Starvation and malnourishment are not only the result of a lack of food; they can also result from eating foods that don’t supply the body with the diverse nutrients it needs to stay healthy and functioning. Although the world produces almost 4 billion tons of food, it is estimated that anywhere between 1.6 billion -2 billion tons of food goes to waste, the majority of which (1.2 billion tons) is also the most nutrient-rich; plant-based food. Can we address the problem of world hunger simply by ending the loss and waste of plant-based foods? #foodwaste #feedingthepoor #feedingthehomeless
