APEX + Server-side JavaScript = Awesome!

Welcome to the future! Starting with Oracle Database 21c, developers can now execute JavaScript within the database. This functionality is enabled by the Multilingual Engine (MLE), powered by GraalVM. And APEX 20.2 is the first (and only) low code framework on the planet which natively supports server-side JavaScript, out of the box!

Unfortunately in my region (South America) the free OCI tier with ADB doesn't have upgraded from 19c database. We have not this MLE feature indeed.

Joel Kallman (in this video) passed away on 25-May-2021 due to Covid - two months after this video. He spent more than 22 years at Oracle and was the Vice President of Software development. He was the heart and soul of Oracle APEX. Rest in peace.

I also met Joel - he helped solve a few techie issues when I was developing a mobile phone billing financial clearing system using APEX v4 back in 2008.
Sad to hear that he actually passed away due to a severe side effect of the vaccine.
