  • This is the final scene from Peter Weir's wonderful film "The Year Of Living Dangerously" ... it has been modified from it's original form by blurring out portions of the screen, as it isn't intended to be used to watch the film, it's intended to be used as a reference for the original score by the legendary Maurice Jarré, and as comparison against the other version of this video that has my alternative "re-scored" version of the score. The link to my version is in the top right corner of this video.

The music in this film is filled with such emotion. The same beat over and over, but as he waves off the tape recorder, and leaves, waving to stair staff, as he walks toward the plane, you hear just peaceful bliss, no loud voices/or chaos like when he first arrived, fearful of not getting on that plane. He walks outside, leaving that behind, the music describes his relief of freedom and safety. When he looks up, and those echoing notes play, just wonderful. He learned what to value, cherish and love.
This soundtrack is so unique. Listening to this during a thunderstorm is so relaxing.

*This music... so beautiful, so endless smooth, touching my soul with so much tenderness... ... enough said.*
*Make sure, please, that this music will always reach my ears! Forever and ever! Please!*
Thanks for this upload and best wishes from Germany.
And THANKS to Maurice Jarre (1924-2009)

Between Maurice Jarre and Vangelis. These composers made movies with their heavy synthesizer sound. You can always pick out movies from this era by soundtrack!

The maker of this video is obviously obsessed with privacy. Still, can't hide the sound of a Greek genius.

Alas, it was the studio who was obsessed with, not privacy, but the protection of their copyrighted material. I was instructed that I had to blur over 50% of the image at all times, in order to have the video not be taken down, which it had been on several occasions. The reason that it was important to ME to be able to keep this video up on the platform was because it is the original version, that needed to be available as an example against which my re-scored version could be judged. That's all. While Vangelis is indeed a Greek genius, the music you hear in all of this clip was composed by Maurice Jarré, who was a French genius. :)

Apologies, without blanking out half the screen, the video would have been tagged and taken down ...

Supposed to capture how things seemed to Guy - he could only ever see part of what was happening, what was important, symbolized by his covered eye.
