It is unbelievable to me that the capacitor that the solar panel charges is in the epoxy resin and not replaceable. My solar garden lights have AA nimh batteries I can replace every year and it works fine, without throwing out the whole fixture . Why doesn’t Davis design the harness like that? Everything works fine in my Vantage Vue sensor except the capacitor. So i guess i have to buy a whole new harness instead of swapping a $2 AA nimh. I was happy with my Vue but instead switched to a competitor which was cheaper and has integrated wifi and a free cloud service to view my station graphs on the web. The entire system was cheaper then the Vue sensor alone. So far it’s held up for 2 years. I don’t mind paying for quality, Davis, but you gotta be competitive. Right now the competition’s mousetrap is better and cheaper, a double whammy.

Wow $275 for a new harness. I just checked the competitor and their replacement equivalent- board and solar panel is $50. Looks like my vantage vue is gonna gather dust. Shame, really.

Same here. My Vue's been going since 2012 and I don't think I need to spend this much for a board - I'll go with a Tempest this time.
