When harvesting fish by size, we are inadvertently decimating not only a year class but also a gender. DNR fellow explained the lack of males for fertilization (males being smaller),leaving eggs to simply die. Harvesting has to be sensible!
I could see how this would be an issue if every angler kept the exact same size. However, selective harvest means different things to different people. But with the explanation that you gave it would seem that the DNR was trying to decimate year classes or specific genders , on Mille Lacs Lake with theie 21" - 23' walleye slot that was in place for many years..?
@@LivinMNOutdoors Coming from West central Illinois. The boy and I are gonna start at Voyagers for a few days then meeting the rest of the family on Ball Club. Never been to Voyagers, but that time of year leeches is usually what'll get us supper on ball club. Love the channel!
