i mean, if you are more focused on creating content then creating music, then you are a content creator. thats cool for the ppl who wanna do that, and we appreciate you and your content. i specifically got into music to create albums and do shows tho. the thought of abandoning that and only focusing on content creating and patreon gives me the ick.

I remember vividly something that stuck with me about edm “dying”. One night I was out with some friends, and a bunch of bars where playing live music with bands, which was cool. None of my friends really fucked with dance music, but we all agreed that the live bands where cool, but we just “couldn’t get jiggy with this shit”. I took them to a club that was playing house and we stayed there all night and had a blast. Dance music is like any other music, when the vibes are right it just gives u something other genres can’t give you. Plenty of times I have taken friends to go see edm acts and it’s always a good time. Just like any other genre, when the vibe is right it just is.

Parker is 100% right on the wookery and nature vibes. look at artists like Charlesthefirst (rip) Clozee, Of The Trees, Chmura, Savej, etc. All heavily inspired by nature. Festivals like shambs, electric forest, envision. Nature is at the core of all of that. There is like an entire subculture of bass music that has evolved around organic nature vibes.

What do you guys think about Psy-Trance? It's like quite big in Europe and it's still super underground, from what we've seen I'm pretty sure that after Techno the natural progression will move onwards to the other genres that evolved out of it. Listen to HypoGeo.

Imagine being so hated by everybody, that goverments have to pass laws that will put people in prison for talking bad about you. That`s how Parker feels =)

10:03 I can relate to this heavily. I used to seperate art from artist but it’s harder now, but can be done on a case by case basin for sure
A great example is Doja Cat, she has been outed as racist multiple times, and has done terrible things and no one even knows about it
But then you have artists (no one in specific in mind here) who have mental health problems or similar and are judged so intensely for it, when really all they need is some support in their personal lives
A third example is Bassnectar, I’ll never be able to seperate his art from who he is. I hope he never makes a comeback. Most of his good songs are written by others, and it all just seems like a facade to do the nasty things he does

Me and Parker are on the same wavelength on nueralink sound design holy shit 😂 I was just thinking that last week ❤

  • @nastynate3989
    @nastynate3989 3 місяці тому

The way I see it, is there has always been artists (in any form of art) that do their art alone, or with others, and then there were always artists who did their art in front of crowds or do a performance of some kind
So a good analogy I’m trying to make, is that back when painting was huge in culture across the world, when paint was made incredibly easy to get no matter your location, the quality and quantity of art didn’t decrease.
This age of patreons and streams may seem like the end of something, but really it’s just the industry taking a new form of performance
I still think amazing artists will come out of this, the same way wide access to paint brought out some of the worlds best painters
I wake and baked before this so I hope this came out right 😂 too many nugs of knodge

Listen to Michael Jackson's "They don't care about us". Maybe he and Kanye address the old power structures going back to the time of slavery. If you don't know what group had a very prominent role in slavery, but it is taboo to criticize them for anything, then you miss a history lesson. History should be possible to be criticized, just as any government should be possible to criticize. So why this exception?

Edm will never die. It may wane in popularity from time to time but it offers something unique. Ppl will always want to dance to punchy, heavy beats with djs. Plus edm shows are always a fun time for ppl who arent normally fans. Also edm is constantly evolving and has so many subgenres, there’s is something for everybody at this point

What we knew of EDM might die.. like it always does, which is good!!! listen to a mixset from 2016 and then one from 2012 then 2010. EDM is a rapidly dying creature.

You seriously think "people going to church generally have good values"? I'm from Germany, and most of what I notice about religious people around here (of which there are very few these days) as well as what I see from the US is that they do have values, but very conservative ones. Disliking other religions, and just being stuck in the past regarding gays or women's rights etc. And I'm no die-hard leftist, but I'd like to see them just being more open to change in our society.

Sounds like what's happening in Colorado is whats been brewing in the South East Coast of Australia too...
We've got a massive underground psytrance scene here in Aus, everyone goes out into the forest and throws massive illegal parties because we all hate the city life.
Lately theres been a BIG movement of Dubstep and Bass DJ's infiltrating the Psytrance bush doof scene, so perhaps its something quite simmilar happening? (Bass heads are getting more into psychedelic substances and getting in touch with nature etc)

Chris Brown was literally 19 years old... And she hit him first... So for you to kinda feel hesitant to work with him because "he beats women" is kind of crazy to me... As if he is a serial abuser or he is fully developed adult... There is probably a bunch of things you have done and said in your youth that you are not proud of... We are all still learning 🙏...
