It’s so good to see you again, Amanda. I don’t think you realize how much you’ve been missed. My heart breaks for you over Buttercup, but Im happy you have a new companion baby to love and love you back. Your videos are so calming, everyone of them.
yes, she's always up for an adventure. funny how dogs are... they don't know what they're doing or where they're going, but whatever it is... they're in!
I love your videos. I see my half self in you. I live half suburb life working and the other half in the bush. My goal is full life bush. My faithful canine companion continues to endure town work with me. We, my Bruce Bud dogo and I, are striving for our rural land full time soon. Love seeing you and Peach (Buttercup as a tree part in your new play) . Thank you for giving us your ins and outs.
Amanda it is so amazing to see you back!!!😁 I really missed your videos but totally understand you needed time after sweet Buttercup passed. She was such a bundle of love. I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 Peach is so lovely. She brings new life to your channel. Seems like she’s really finding her own and connecting with you. I so look forward to continue following your journey with Peach and nice to see your cheery personally back on UA-cam again. 😁👏👏 Wishing you a Happy Valentines 💝
Wow! You have to be in great shape! You can chuck those logs, load them all up, move the camera around for excellent footage (thank you!) and then unload! Makes me tired thinking about it! Worked hard like that when younger, but the knees don’t like me doing that anymore! 😂 Thanks for another awesome peak into your life in a beautiful place! Peaches loved all the adventure! ❤
Great to see you and pup doing so well and wonderful that you were able to restock your food. Hoping you found a nice training treat for Peach as well. Enjoy your week!
Good morning to you too! I very much enjoy starting my day with you and Peaches. Cheers to facing your fears and heading out into the dark to do what you knew had to be done! You are a brave and inspiring woman 😊. Peaches is living the dream, she's grateful for your steadfast patience and love 💕
Good days work there. I'm getting a bit envious of all the tools and toys you have to play with 😅 but actually many of them would be no good to us, being floating! But you gave a marine ways!! How handy that would be. All our wood is beachcomb, so has be dried before use. Our whole house runs on wood.....cooking, heating and hot water. We do have a small saw mill and cut our own decking etc. NW coming this week so will be dry and sunny.
Hi Sarah. well, i'm envious of your float home life. I'd love to own a little float home in a secluded bay somewhere - heaven :)! We beachcomb all our wood here too (except for the windfalls). This entire island is protected and we cannot fall trees. I looked at the forecast earlier and was super excited to see what's ahead!! Have an amazing week.
Peach is a pony 🐎 Its good that she is cautious around the vehicles. I am so jealous (but in a very good way) of the life you are living. I am living it vicariously through you. I miss the PNW so much. Thank You so much for making these videos. They are relaxing and wholesome and it feeds my need for trees (Im in North Dakota, what trees we have are petrified or planted in rows) Take Care!
haha - she is a pony... sometimes she gallops like a horse when plays with her ball, makes me laugh. i am so happy you enjoy the videos and that you find them relaxing. as you can see by the forest on this island it's pure chaos in there :)!
@@AmandaOffGrid I was thinking if I ownsed that place I might hire a logger to come in for a week and down all the snags. Might be worth it I dont know. Might be expensive, too. But so many logs and trees would be nice to have most cleared off and useable energy. I watch a guy who heats his whole place and three other buildings with a wood heated boiler in MN.
i think she is thriving... she's getting spoiled though... today it is raining like mad and she has just sat and stared out the window - she looks miserable - haha :)
Those pieces of wood looked pretty heavy. Peaches lives an extraordinary life 😊I’m glad you got some supplies and hopefully some coffee. I’m glad you’re back on UA-cam. Great videos. Have a nice week
they weren't so bad :). i'm kinda used to carrying large logs now. Yes, Peach does have a good life i think. although days like today (lotsa rain) she just sits inside and stares out the window, sighing every 10 minutes or so - haha! Thanks again for watching Laura :)
haha - me too! some days i sit inside all day (not my favourite days) b/c of the weather. today it's bucketing rain. but the previous caretaker here left me his little treadmill (so kind!) so i use that a few times a week in the mornings :)
That is a lot of wood to move about. I am sure Peaches will get accustomed to the side by side. I bet the weather is hard on all metals. Thats a pretty good distance up in the forest and back, with that load. Thank you for sharing. Glad you were able to get supplies. Stay safe, warm, happy ☺️ and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
hi there! it was pretty far into the forest... i didn't show the entire trip up. hardest part was reversing all the way back - haha! thanks for watching!
Peach is living her best life. Sounds like you are too. Am this in the dark, 6 am, on a pouring with rain B.C. morning, contemplating a necessary dog walk in the wind and rain here. I could almost pretend I am with you two when you were talking about your overnight conditions.
i have coffee again, thank you :). yes, Peach and i are bonding pretty well i think. i had to rescue a log that escaped today using a kayak and poor Peach was so distraught. she ran up and down the shore howling... i was a bit surprised at her reaction. we're back now and she won't let me out of her sight! haha :)
My Jake was a lot like your new dog, happy trails n fair winds, from Newfoundland,I use headbands with lights for in the dark, get a good high power one,Brian over n out.
Yes! i have a headlamp... i just keep forgetting to plug it in. Gonna do that right now as I had to go out in the dark again this morning. Thanks for watching :)
yes, i think you're right. whenever i had Butter outside with me i was always so worried about her. she was so trusting, old and slow ❤️. i loved my old and slow dog, but i did worry about her alot. not so worried about Peach - haha. this gal is one tough cookie. she is always 'on the job'... always on alert looking for danger - haha :).
Its so beautiful there...very happy u got groceries and things u needed. You are a hard worker and they are lucky to have you! Yup peaches is lucky too!!
I must say it's really nice seeing you back I've watched all so far I see peaches is keeping you on your toes! But I will always remember buttercup to. ❤ from Australia 🦘
for sure... Peach would definitely get herself in trouble if i didn't keep a somewhat close eye on what she's doing. the other day she stuck her nose in a hole under a tree and i heard a scuffling, followed by Peach yelping at the top of her voice and running as fast as she could - haha! i still don't know what she encountered. i checked her from top to bottom and there were no bites or marks on her. she's learning :)
haha :). well, i don't mind so much as i'm really the one who uses most of the firewood on the property being here alone for so many months. when i first got here i was exhausted after hauling logs and splitting them, but now i don't get so tired :)
I will never not be in awe of your surroundings. Sure I live in a dense forest too, but your area is absolutely beautiful. Glad you have Peach, yet I would be freaking out if Kenai took off in the woods after something. Those ten minutes would take years off my life! 😂
Slowly working my way backwards through your videos. Enjoying your channel. Not sure if your earlier videos show what you do in your "off time" (do you have any? LOL). I love your music choices - I am a musician - the music really enhances your content.
Ive just come across your channel and now a subscriber. I watched 4 of your vlogs and now im hooked and look forward to seeing more. Keith from London.
Amanda, another great video. Were you able to get your coffee supply? Curious to know how you get fuel for the generator? Always nice to see updates on you and Peaches.
yes, i got coffee!! whoop whoop!! there is a massive barge that delivers fuel (diesel, gas, propane) to the 200+ islands up here. they can also barge out large items like fridges, trucks etc. they arrive at high tide and pull right up onto the shore and drop a massive ramp. it's pretty neat to watch.
the owners are very private about a few things… fuel supply and how it’s transferred and used on the property is one of those things. i’d love to show more… but some things i am unable to.
Hi Amanda, another fine fun video .I have often wondered, when you applied for the job did the owner have any apprehension about hiring you? Not because are female but, if you were qualified to do the chores? Does your employer provide you with food or do you pay out of your pocket? I wonder about these things as you know I was a remote caretaker for 30 years. I bet he's glad he did hire you, you are a hard worker.
hi John!! many of the chores i do were not in my ‘duties requirements’. i was hired to watch the place, mow the lawn etc. i do a bunch of extra stuff b/c it can be challenging and i want to learn. most places cover basic food, but this one does not, i purchase my own food with the $ they pay me. this is why i take the afternoons for freelancing…that’s really how i make my $.
I broke the pull cord on my generator and lazy me now uses a socket attached to my drill to start it . Just need to take it off as soon as it fires up or you can get hurt .
we'll get there i'm sure. tried a couple times to get her in, but she jumped right out and wouldn't come near the truck for awhile. right now i'm getting her used to maneuvering around the truck... she loves running beside the truck and it's kinda fun to watch her :)
not so much. there aren’t any crabs around here… you can get some if you drop traps in more open water. the owners mostly catch and eat prawn… loads of prawn to be caught everywhere!
I'm in awe how you just back that side by side down that hill. Peachy is having her best life. Glad you found each other.
My day(week) isn't the same without you!! Thank u! 😊
oh wow, that's so nice :). thanks so much!
It is so inspiring and calming! Thanks fo sharing, love how Peach is adapting
You are so kind! I am glad it's calming... that makes me happy :)
So glad you finally got Supplies, didn't want you to keep eating lentils, don't forget your bear spray, have a great week.
me too - haha! although i do like lentils... just not every day for a week :)

Nice to see you. A lot of forestry work to be dealt with. Beautiful area.
yah, that forest is pure chaos. i've never seen anything like it. it's all the cedar needles everywhere...they pile up and make literal hills!!
I read the comment about a wayward log and Peach's concern. We never replace our past companions. Just cherish the new.
yes, very well said 💖💖💖💖
Peaches is always ready to come along. Great to watch!
