- Guitarist Carlos Rios sat down with us at the Techno Empire warehouse to talk about the some of the special guitars and amps we are selling for him that he used throughout his storied career.
The solo on brother to brother is one of the greatest solos ever❤️❤️❤️🎸🎸🎸
The reason I'm watching this clip is because I just came from the Rick Beato UA-cam clip about that very solo by Carlos Rios. . .
Oh yes!
and one of the intricate solo
A Gibson 335 and a Mesa Boogie amp on “Brother To Brother”. I feel like I just learned the meaning of life! This is surreal.
You just did!! 😂
About time Carlos Rios got some recognition!
Completely agree! He's just too humble, an elevated being.
So funny that Carlos and Jimmy Haslip, both who soloed on "Brother to Brother", play left-handed and upside-down. Brilliant player. Legend album.
Brother to Brother is one of my favorite Gino Vannelli albums and Carlos KILLED on it! It's great to know what gear he used on that album.
I met Carlos Rios when I subbed for him once in Los Angeles!! What huge shoes to fill!! He couldn't have been any nicer. Love that cat!! ❤
Carlos is a monster player. Some of the most incredible solos were played by him, period.
Word
Carlos is a great guy and a phenomenal guitar player!! ❤
Great to see Carlos Rios. What an amazing guitarist and musician!
Thank you Carlos for your wonderful music through all these years
Brother to Brother album def put him on my radar.
The track that really hit me was his über-funky, explosive pickin’ on Apaloosa. When I met him over the phone in 1986, he said that was the track of his that everyone mentions.
Ah wow, a rare in-person video interview with Carlos! What an incredible player. I loved hearing about some of his adventures and the tools he was using at those times, although I low-key wish y'all had chatted about his appearance on the Chick Corea Elektric Band album, because that's where I first laid ears on the guy's playing and -- of course -- it was absolutely stellar. Just wish I knew what guitars/amps/effects he was using to get those sounds. Cheers though, this got me about 95% of the way there!
I remember seeing on the liner of that Chick record,it shows Carlos in the studio holding a 335.
@@davidsheriff9274 I finally saw that photo recently and wanted to come back and say yeah, he likely used his 335 and Mesa for certain solos. I'm guessing for the rhythm parts he used either Strat (seen in Part 1 of this interview), give how "spanky" those parts sound.
@@mysteryloaf you didn't need to reply so quickly 😁
Saw Carlos play with Tom Scott in Boulder CO back in early 80's ....awesome then and now!
Keep sharing your gift with the world!
Great stories about the history of your guitars and a couple of your amps. Thank you
Carlos: Brilliant guitarist 🙏🙏🙏🎵 🎸
One of the greatest players. He covers all the bases with his wonderful playing. A class act too.
This guys solos on Gino s album are Incredible!
You're Great, Great, Maestro. God Bless you!!!
One of my all time favorite players - absolute legend! I used to play through 2 of those Yamaha in the late 80s in HS. Great clean platform for whatever you feed into it and loud as hell!
Great guitarist! 🔥🎸👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A grrrreat player....also one of the guys who made me want to be a session guitarist in the mid 80s....
His solo on brother to brother alone is worth a career
The evil eye also one of the greatest solo❤
One of the greatest solos ever written and he's one of the most underrated guitarists out there unfortunately!!
This guy is a monster player( Gino Vannelli,Chick Corea first Electric band)
Great player!
Great musician. \o/
Exelente maestro
I toured for 5 years with a stock strat, and a 50 watt Yamaha,legit sound,in a small package 👍👍👍
Looks like a pair of Mesa Mark 1 amps, 1 without EQ, the main one with EQ.. and two of the Yamaha G50 112 II models that were made in collaboration with Paul Rivera.
Ur amazing !!!!!
"YEAH."
❤
B2B solo god-tier
Great interview! maybe I missed it...does Carlos say what year his beautiful ES335 is? Also anyone know the exact model of the Yamaha amp? I want one!
Yamaha G50-112 Mk2. At least that is what it looks like.
@@phineashenshaw yes I think you are exactly right - thanks!!
Great player ... the black VA guitar looks like something out of a Ferrari ,
As a lefty I've come across the listings for these guitars. Does he specify somewhere why he's selling them off now?
Hi Ryan, Thanks for the inquiry. We are the ones selling the guitars. Carlos is semi-retired and just simplifying his rig to the bare essentials for the types of gigs he is doing now. Many session and touring guitarists do not take multiple guitars and amps on the road anymore. With that, I think Carlos was feeling it was time to get these guitars and amps into the hands of some players that can keep their legacy going! Hope that helps!
@@TechnoEmpire Thanks for responding. Glad to hear all is well with Carlos.
@@ryan.1357 Alright Mate, The fat tele with the Valley Arts neck is on Ebay Now, I would be buying it if the £ wasn't at it's lowest to the $ in 35yrs :o(
Do you know if Carlos still has his Dumble ODS?
We sold it for him many years ago. Ben Harper owns it and is reportedly his #1 amp.
Which model boogie amp is that (on the right)?
1977 MESA BOOGIE MARK 1
Where is carlos from?
Los Angeles, California.
Went to high school in Torrance, Ca.
What is the model of the Yamaha?
Yamaha G50-112 Mk2 That is what it looks like.
