  • We've put out a lot of content over the years - but one that 100% will make a difference to your bike's service life a well as your riding experience is to do consistent bolt checks.
Particularly with new cockpit products it's likely you'll see some minor yield in the bolts over the first few rides, even if you torqued it properly at initial build.
Here's a quick video showing my personal build, during its third ride after build as an example of how important torque checks (and riding within your capabilities) are... Basically I had around 5 or 6 hours on this build and knew that for me it was about time to give it a bolt check - but, I thought ahhh, after the ride (murphy's law when you think about something right?) The bike felt fine but about halfway through the bars roll. I believe in riding at about 70%, and on a new bike by myself I might roll that back even a bit more frankly. So, wasn't a terrible deal (spoiler no crash footage hahaha) but thought I'd put it out there as an "it can happen to anyone" reminder.
You can read more about MTB Bolt Checks including how Pre-Load, Vibration/Leverage and Material Yield and Material Stretch factor into your bike, particularly a new bike or new bits!
