Great video. Question: wouldn’t the wire be better to run through the front of the hook so the crimp would be at the back giving an easier path down to the hook point?
Instead of wire rigging within the skirt , I've seen light gauge fine stainless chain ⛓ used , smallest d shackle onto the hook then heat shinked over to stiffen up. Can't speak for fish over 600lbs on it ....but it definitely works well very simple robust like in this vid

Even with extra careful washing of my rigs it always end up rusting...
