I have a 2005 ZD28 and a 2015 ZD331. Both my mowers have cups that you put on first before installing the blades. The cup covers the spindle assembly that is open on your deck. Strange that your model doesn't have cups. I only remove my decks once a year to do a final cleaning before I put them away. It's nice to have the hand crank to scrape the deck once a week or if your in the field and need to get under your deck for any reason.
Thats a good point.The crank would allow a quick scrape for buildup if the lawn was clumpy.I can see that working perfectly.As for the spindle guards,My machine never had them.The setup you see is how it came.For all I know,matbe they forgot to put them on,or maybe it was just a deleted part in the assembly process and figured no need for them?Anyway,ready to go.Thanks for watching,and the next video may interest you more,its for the lawn cutting guy.
Just did mine. Had oil leak out of the gear box from storing it vertical this winter. Ever have that happen? Never happened to me before. Needed an oil change anyway.
I've never stored mine that way.But leaks only come 2 ways,shaft seals or gearbox vents.Can't remeber if box is vented on these machines.Thanks for watching
