All of South -Africa the Municipality don't clean the stormwater pipes and if you look around how mutch rubbish are laying in that stormwater trenches, it is no surprise of block drains and stormwater drains.
Kariega - Uitenhage - I live in Port-Elizabeth, and have never seen such damage in my city in all my time here. Many houses were damaged and even today three days after this damage the rains are not over. My heart goes out to these people that have lost so much. I wish that the government can do more to help our towns with the infrastructure and stop making promises. Its cold out there and its not even winter yet. 👣👣👣
Always so overwhelming and sad whereever there is flooding regardless of people's circumstances. That being said - over and above the destruction, the amount of excess garbage -- plastic bottles, plastic bags +++ -- that is thrown into the river or simply dumped everywhere, is *SHOCKING* I know this is an issue in SA - seriously the municipalities need to get behind this - the offrun into the ocean (Durban++) is so pollutant that 1. swimming safely has become almost impossible, and 2. killing natural ocean resources!! SA - all populations, *you can do better*. Remaining hearts go out to the families and again - hope that help steps in as quickly as possible!
Storm water drains are not cleaned out & clogged by rubbish. Many townships & newly built area has no drainage system at all. Ppl built on high lying areas they should never have been on so when it floods it just makes the situation worse. Praying for the ppl of the EC. Hope they stay safe & dry.
FIX THE STORM WATER DRAINAGE!!!!! We've been complaining about the drains for 3yrs, my house got flooded twice before.
