+Minh Tran There's been a scientific study that Caucasians don't get the same kind of ear wax as us Asians. Apparently, white people's ear wax is more liquid-y and just needs Q-tip to clean whereas Asians' ear wax is that gunky clumpy substance that's rolled into a ball so we need ear pickers to clean. I don't know if it's genetics or not, but different races have different body conditions (like for example, most Asians are lactose intolerant because we don't have milk and cheese in our regular food diet....lack of milk in Asian diet is also why we're shorter because calcium in milk is what makes bones grow taller but we don't eat/drink milk after infancy)

Wellie, ever since you made that video about you trying out the vegetarian side really got me thinking and actually researched everything and now I'm fully vegan and this is the best decision I have ever made. I come from a Hispanic house hold and yes NO ONE agrees to this transition and they argue with me about it and I listen but still do me and eat whatever I want. They don't understand and I tried educating them but that didn't work so now I literally just eat my vegan meals while they eat meat/dairy and I do not feel tempted. Give it a whole 30 days and you'll taste buds will change. And just an FYI, you can't say you love and care for animals if you still consume their byproducts just saying. But I know it's all new to you and you're trying even though you were the one to change me lol love you so much! (:

Hi Weylie! I stopped eating meat around 5 years ago, and at the time my family was not supportive of it at all (they're all meat eaters). But I think over time, they will be more accepting of it and understand your reasons for wanting to be a vegetarian (whether it be for the environment, your health, for the animals, etc). The beginning is always the hardest because change is hard to accept. Your family or people around you might not understand now, but I'm sure they will with time, so don't worry! There are so many great reasons to be a vegetarian, and I think the more informed you are about the benefits of choosing this lifestyle, the more you can convince others or have them accept and understand it more :)

Cristina I used it once a week. You can do it twice a week if you want to in case its severe. Mix equal parts of cool water and apple cider vinegar massage it into the scalp and leave it for a few minutes. I used it after shampoo and just rinsed my hair with cool water. Or you could mix some of it with your shampoo. ✌

i can relate to you about the vegetarian thing, its a little difficult esp as chinese-american! for me, when my parents got older, they start eating less and less meat and ate more 'mild' foods so they are gradually accepting of vegetarianism. i tell my parents that i don't eat certain things because either "i dont like it" or "im trying to be healthy" and they take it as if i'm growing up. :P

I went vegan about 8months ago and I totally know what you mean about parents not being supportive, it was so frustrating at the start, I wasn't a huge meathead and ate fish like never so that part wasn't hard at all, but the dairy products and eggs I ate loads before. Everyone around me pretty much understood about the meat part because when you actually think about what is meat it's pretty disgusting, not to mention the slaughterhouse videos .. But the dairy products isn't so easy for everyone to understand because it's a little bit more complicated but just as cruel as the meat industry. At the start I made my own meals (still do) and I think that's important, to show your family what you DO eat, and what products you could replace to another ones. Another way is also educating them, just throw some fact around weather it be ethical, environmental or health. My family isn't vegan whatsoever but at least they know what vegan means and can make a vegan dish me so I'm happy :D

I've been a vegetarian most of my life, and now I'm trying to become a vegan (but I really love cheese!!!).Anyway, it's hard for the family because it's something different and new to them. They care so much about you that they think you're not getting all your nutrients; but if you let them know what you eat now in order to compensate for what you're no longer eating, and also let them know that it's a very personal decision that really works for you and it makes you happy, they'll eventually understand. My family never talks about the subject anymore, not even during dinners while I'm the only one eating different food.

I'm watching the videos out of order and just commented on the one after regarding me eating mainly vegan. For me, it's due to health reasons that I opted to do it. I hope you can get your family to support you and understand your reasons.
Another thing that I'm sure someone probably mentioned was that with all of the the things that are injected into the meats, processed foods; those preservatives, toxic ingredients and things all end up consumed by those that are eat meat and processed foods.

I'm sort of in the same position as you are, Weylie. I started transitioning to a vegan diet in march, after watching Earthlings (by the way, if you haven't seen it, you must see it because it puts our actions into perspective). My mom has always respected my decision but my dad is a little more upset with me, especially ever since I decided to go full on vegan. It's really upsetting that I have to sit at the table and have to listen to his "advice". I think that tha's the case for you too but you have to understand that some people don't really see the harm that a diet revolving around meat can cause to our bodies. Just be calm and do your own thing, stick to what you believe in because, at the end of the day, it's you that has to be ok with your conscience, not your parents. Maybe, when you visit your parents, try bringing some vegan food for them to try.
I hope you'll read my comment and if you do, I want you to know that I'm super proud of you because you've decided that you don't want to be a cause for animal suffering. I have watched you ever since you posted the video on tampons (a heck of a long time ago) and I really believe that you are my SISTAAAH:) I'm sending you lots of love from Italy. Anti-dandruff shampoo would probably make your scalp drier. You're more likely to fix your dry scalp by adding some sort of oil to your hair to add moisture, maybe massage some argan oil or coconut oil into your scalp and leave it for a little bit and then wash it off if you're afraid your hair will look oily?

What I did to get rid of dandruff was use Listerine (the brown one) and put it in the shower, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse it off. Keep in mind that your hair will smell like Listerine for a couple of days but it does get rid of it after a couple of times that you do it. Hope this helps.
PS. I don't know if it would damage the color of your hair... Maybe look more into that...

Weylie what your talking about is actually Dry Scalp which is caused by an extremely dry scalp. I actually have a lot of that and there are actually a lot of factors that cause your scalp to be drier than usual. Dandruff is actually caused by a greasy or oily scalp, people usually confuse the two or call both dandruff but there is a difference. The best way to deal with dry scalp is trying natural oils and also drinking lots of water but because its winter its harder to maintain and trust me i have had dry scalp all my life and i'm 19.

  • @Angelina-dw6dq

Weylie I feel you with the whole eating/diet thing. I love animals and stay away from meat or seafood as much as possible but I am chinese too and I feel like chinese asian parents do not believe or agree with the vegan/vegetarian diet if they have never eaten that way before. Our kind of cuisine is actually really meat-densed! When I'm alone I try to eat vegan as well, but at family dinners, especially if I know that my dad or mom went out of their way to cook something for me I don't limit myself as well. I don't have any advice on helping your family and friends be accepting except to give it time and allow them to adjust because recently my family have been ok with it. They probably gave up hahaha. But if they see that you are consistently being serious with your decision then I'm sure they would support you in time to come! Good luck babe xx

Don't know if anyone else said it, but put coconut oil on your scalp at night and shampoo it out in the morning! Totally works! Plus it's safe for color treated hair!

I've been using head and shoulders and I never get a lot or big dandruffs. I tried switching to other shampoos to try it out and then I started having lots of dandruff so maybe head and shoulders would help you out too. Always here to help (:

You should give Verb's Ghost Oil a try. It's available at Sephora and about $14, if I'm remembering correctly. It's multipurpose and I usually never have dandruff, but when I use the oil to help my ends, I use what's left on my hands and kind of rub it into where I'm dry on my scalp. Works wonders! It's very light but super moisturizing without actually being oily. And if you don't wanna commit to a whole bottle just get like a Sephora sample lol. Alsooo, I'm an SF native and I keep waiting for the day I bump into y'all :"(

LOL Weylie! I feel. My family is Chinese and I diet annually where I become vegetarian or pescatarian. My family is very accepting of it, but sometimes they do forget about my diet just because I do it for health reasons whereas you are doing it for moral reasons. But I would just tell them that you are trying to be healthier and live longer. Buddhist people and monks do it also, so why not you too?? lol. I'm pretty sure they can understand then!

Hey Weylie! I actually have the same problem because I dye my hair and have very mild dandruff normally. But after I have been dying my hair more in the last few months, I too, am getting larger flakes. I tried apple cider vinegar rinse and that helped ease the itch and what not and then I started putting conditioner on my roots for a few minutes before rinsing when I wash my hair and that seemed to help lessen the dandruff. Hope that helps! ps love your videos! :)

I would say to watch some documentaries on vegetarian/vegan lifestyles and see which ones sum up your opinions on this subject the best or which ones you like the best and ask your family members to watch them.

I honestly just use head and shoulder once in awhile if I ever get dandruff. But I don't know if it's animal tested

I have dry scalp too! It's not dandruff though, dandruff is when it's oily from not washing it. Dry scalp essentially is the opposite (:

I used wen cleansing shampoo for several months and maybe because it was too cleansing and drying out my scalp, I started getting dandruff for the first time ever. I decided to use wen every other month instead of weekly and the dandruff went away. I know you mentioned using their cleansing shampoo the past video so maybe that could be a contributing factors also.
