The way that Merab was able to weather the storm vs. Moraes and end up finishing the fight himself was one of the biggest shows of heart I’ve ever seen
@@andreprefontaine3824 Merab was saying after the fight that he told the referee, before the fight, not to stop it if he looks in a bit of trouble. I'm not saying that fighters should necessarily be able to influence referees, but the man got his wish.

That was good, but it was that devastating. He was just hurt very badly, but he was totally aware what was going on and what he needed to do: to get away from the situation, by stumbling badly away. Morae's obviously emptied his gas tank on Merab. The really most inexplicable situation was Volkanovsky escape, one after another, of Ortega's guillotine and triangle: with the arms, even though Volkanovsky said he was literally on his last breath, the stocky man's strength against two arms... bad as it was (his legs were thrashing around, literally, like he was falling asleep from strangulation, which was what it was), I thought he could break the grip with his entire body; which he did. But it's the next submission hold, via legs... I thought THAT was a done deal, given each leg is more power than both arms combined; and Ortega, a master BJJ guy had both legs around Volkanovsky's neck. I thought, that's it... and yet, again, he was able to escape. THAT, to me, was the real deal. But course, those two were just HALF of the thing. Immediately, Volkanovsky went on to beat Ortega literally senseless... he had to be helped to his corner and even after a minute of rest, Ortega wasn't able to see clearly more than a few inches beyond his face, when the referee held up, 1, 2, or 3 fingers. Even more bizarre of all, Ortega came back last round and was the stronger guy. THAT was the real "come back" fight... for BOTH fighters.... none of these one-kick/one-punch or gassing out and that's it deals...
If it's comeback of the year for all of combat sports it's EASILY Badr Hari vs. Arkadiusz Wrzosek. Not even close. Maybe the best comeback KO in the history of combat sports. If you guys aren't watching Glory Kickboxing you're seriously missing out. Check out that fight and watch the full thing o_O

The refs that night were terrible, a russian heavyweight was knocked out but allowed to continue that night as well; you could tell he probably couldn't spell his own name while he was sitting on his stool before the final round. If a fighter's weakness is their gas tank then I personally think it is cheating when a short gas tank fighter gets the knockout like Moraes did the bout continues because the knocked out fighter recovers fast. Sure, the fighter who comes back arguably worked harder for the win in the bout, but they already got knocked out! getting knocked out should mean you lose, no takebacks!!
@@nicholasdoyle2373 what lol this is such dumb logic. Merab was moving the whole time even when he was hurt. He was never knocked out it's not like he was put out cold and got time to recover. Same here, Charles gets my vote because the stakes were much higher but Merab’s comeback was also incredible. Definitely Merab! I understand Charles was on a bigger stage but i was certain the fight would be stopped that round but he bounced back and got the rare finish.
To understand how great Hernandez's comeback was you need to understand who Vieira is in the competition jujitsu world. Surviving the threat of Vieira on the ground long enough for him to gas, then to finish him via submission of all ways... remarkable.
