Ask your vet who owns it and how is he compensated. A vet friend worked at a clinic that sold and was fired. He would not work on commission--the more he could upsell, the bigger his check. He felt it was unethical. He’s filling in at Emergency Clinics until he can find an honest clinic.
@@BearingMySeoulthere are many regulations some federal and different states regulations that determine what insurance can charge for copays and coinsurance
So, my issue with this…. Is if they own all the food companies and the clinics…. They aren’t actually motivated for healthy pets. Food that slowly makes them very ill (esp over time) even more profitable for them.
VCA requires 2 shots for grooming other places don't. And the shots aren't necessary and new. They are more expensive also. I had to take my dog for an injury and they were the only ones with an opening. My dog did get a good vet. Banfield used to be franchises so my dog has gone there when I first got her. But I took her during COVID and her vet was gone and the lady said my dog needed all her teeth pulled out. She didn't. And they wouldn't give her til I signed the higher priced contract saying she needed dental altho I wouldn't have it done there. So I never went back there. The dog food I think has fake meat now. My dog won't eat it. Any of it. I read they were going to start with dog food using fake meat.
Vet here... The facts from the inside - 9 of 10 vet clinics are profitable - by 2030 there will be 75MM more pets in the US I was just offered 150K signing bonus to go to a clinic where I would likely make 10x that for the clinic. It was a 3 year contract. So over the course of those three years they would pay me ~ 21% of 4.5MM. The staff gets at most 18% of that number They buy us up because a vet like me makes them millions.
the cost of a vet has made it impossible to have a dog or cat. my cats used to cost ~$300 per visit. yeah, $300. that was for getting a simple thing like spaying or teeth cleaning. now teeth are up around $1000 and spaying $500. this makes it impossible to manage feral populations of animals with basic needs. another price gouge is flea control. the medicine (revolution)that works is not sold over the counter and requires you make an appointment to get it. the vets will not write a prescription so you can easily order it from chewy, they want to sell it at profit and charge you an office visit at the same time. we should be writing our congress reps to get all this changed. btw, my dentist charged me only $250 to pull my 2 back teeth and said bring the cat to him!
Agree that spaying and neutering should be a free service underwritten by the local, state, and federal gov't. It makes good economic sense and is more humane.
Yep relating to this. I got a kitten last summer from Siamese Rescue of Puerto Rico and it was over $500 to have her spayed. It is shameful. I could have taken to one of those spay/neuter clinics but this is our pet so I was nervous about doing that so did it through our regular vet.
That makes sense why vets are so investable, but I feel like you dropped the point of the video as to why candy companies specifically want to invest in vets. Is it because the candy industry isn't recession proof, doesnt have a good growth track, etc?
The point is non corporate owned vets are being bought up like crazy and you'll be hard pressed to find a privately owned vet these days. Money talks and has the power even in veterinary medicine.😥

One thing I believe you did not highlight is the lack of regulations. There is no cap on what to charge for a visit or procedure
I don't think there's a cap for human care in the US either. Can't speak for other countries...

The same procedure can cost a ridiculous amount more for a dog than for a person

They also don't want vets to tell pet owners that their commercially made dry foods are actually unhealthy junk food for pets. Which they are BTW.

Oh my….😳
Just like human medicine, follow the money. This is disgusting.

What's the most interesting pet you've treated and how did you treat it?

$1500 for a cleaning where I live and that's if they don't find stuff like cavities.

money and greed. That's all you had to say. Can't say I'm surprised.
Its turning into something pure EVIL.
Wow anti trust continues to be a joke huh
wow that was a neat video, gonna share it. keep it up
Sick but true. Thanks for highlighting this
The #1 reason why I won't adopt another dog.

I really dont think itll end well with a major corporation deciding if your dog lives or not.
It’s because the “candy companies” already manufacture the majority of pet food.
CC stopped working after 3:18. Could you guys take a look at that? Thanks
Awesome video
thanks austin
In the UK, they are called linnaeus.
3:18 - 4:48
Great captions buddy, I didn't realize that those things coming out of your mouth weren't words, but just gibberish.
awesome video
So, the point might be to avoid the corporate vets? Where is that in this video?

Great video
This is a cool video!!
Don't worry, my handwriting is worse
Macket
Convinced me to invest in the Mars corp 👍
They never went public
Why would you invest in them over this video
You also shouldnt be convinced to spend money by some rando
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 here goes again, new cycle of AI craziness
Very informative video. The comedy is a tad cringy and forced. Tone it down and you have a winner!
