Blind Guardian are also the one band I've ever called my "favourite", nothing beats the experience of a crowd of BG fans singing along to every word of every song of a gig.
I'll vouch for this. ENB is extremely entertaining, but more importantly his content is extremely educational. He also cites other channels that can offer more information.
I'd say keep the Podcast as it is. I love having new people there. Even when some are horrible guests, the ones that are not totally make up for the bad ones. It also makes every podcast very different and fresh.
TB.. you are an awesome human.. no matter what people say YOU started something (an empire) that the kids that shout bs could never dream of.. I hope your job gets more stable.. you of all people deserve it.. hope the youtube hall of fame will forever remember your name.. else your community will.
Soilwork - The Panic Broadcast is indeed an awesome album. It's got everything that's good about Soilwork. From groovy to straight forward, from experimental to basic, from fast to slow, from harsh to melodic. Amon Amarth also awesome, they stick to their formula for 90% on each album, yet still keep almost everyone happy, because that's what everyone wants. They bring JUST enough new experiment on every album not to sound like a copy, and they bring solid quality, well written songs, every time
TB, for the podcasts consider having segments where you bring in certain hosts. For example, an indie game segment will focus the discussion on indie games, and you can bring in the hosts that are best versed in that area. Then you can move on to a new segment 30 min later (or however long) and change the hosts around to match that segment.
I assume you don't mean it's a joke. I mean, if you had a criticism to make, you'd have provided evidence and reasoning like a regular person. My doctor is telling me to assume the best in people otherwise I may want to club them over the head with a brick, so that is what I am trying to do right now. I am going to assume that I just misunderstood you :)
The first Melo-Death band I found was Insomnium around about 2009 , which have stayed as i my favourite band. I then quickly found Dark Tranquillity, Kalmah, Hypocrisy, Amon Amarth and at the gates. Recently I also found Amorphis, Be'lakor and Omnium Gatherum. I found that even though there is the expected general theme within the genre, each band seems to give their own touch on the genre. And se because of this, every new band i find seems to refresh the genre for me, not that it ever needs to
I tend to find that the pka podcast do q good job at balancing guest yet still moving through topics and the live elements make it SOOOO much more awesome
Podcast 25 was probably the best one...seriously that one was amazing. And the Crendor ones were great too. Dungeonland with yogscast sounds absolutely awesome. Fingers crossed!
TB, I don't wanna sound judgemental or supressing, but being in shape, having low bodyfat, having not many insuline spikes or even insuline resistance, also causes your cortisol (stress hormone) levels to lower hence might aid you with your allergies or even make your medicine unneeded, which all would say, is the best way to go. Working out 1 hour, 2 or 3 times a week and cleaning the diet up a bit can make a significant difference in these issues.
I loved hearing about the music TB, Blue Plz in 2004 was how I discovered the vast majority of the metal I love today. I'll never forget you singing Sonata Arctica's Don't Say A Word live on the air... :D
Actually I find that Jesse does a reasonably good job at keeping the podcast in check when you're not there. He tries to steer the podcast in the direction in the should be going and succeeds most of the time. Jesse definitely deserves some credit for that.
Oldschool Gothenburgh is great! The newer stuff all sounds very similar, and they (imo) mostly seem to imitate In Flames at their peak. At the Gates and Dark Tranquility are still my absolute favorites to this day
I would love more podcasts with Josh, Clint and Jon. I think them 3 are by far the best guest hosts. Josh is one of the most intelligent people on the gamestation and Jon and Clint are probably two of the funniest
It is a rather strange experience to hear TB talking about music. I'm quite heavily into music myself, and it's nice to hear him talk about something other than gaming with such confidence. That it coincides with my interests is something of a bonus. This leads me to think that TB doing a show like WTF is... for something other than gaming might be interesting to hear. He could wind up being the gaming community's equivalent to Morgan Freeman.
By which you mean "probably the best, most talkative and knowledgeable guest we've ever had on the show". I assume that's what you meant, after all if you had meant otherwise you'd have given reasoning behind your opinion like a regular person.
On Meshuggah: Most of their songs are actually in a very regular time signature, but they place the accents in very weird places which makes it feel so odd. If you just keep headbanging in normal 4/4 it'll eventually feel normal again. The bandmembers do it too. It's part of the challenge of seeing them live, haha
I never mentioned keeping one guest all the weeks. I said that it would be great of there were a few select guests that would rotate that are fun, and then every other week have a new guest outside of that selected circle.
Oh man, can't believe you're into this type of music. First 5 In Flames albums are just awesome! And Dark tranquility, at the gates of course. TB, PLEASE listen to Disarmonia Mundi, I think you'd love them, quite a few of their songs have Bjorn from Soilwork on vocals.
Almost buttclenched there for a while after listening to your In Flames opinion, but then i remembered that people have different tastes and i'm totally ok with that. Their oldest stuff is some of my least favorite while "Reroute", "Come clarity" and "Soundtrack" are my top 3. I love their choruses and prefer that Anders sings more than growls these days. Anyhow, despite me not agreeing with you on that particular point, i loved hearing you analyzing the crap out of swedish metal. Rock on man!
Don't worry about the podcast, just chill. Don't get stressed about it, just do the pod and see what happens. We don't care how you do it, so go with what you enjoy most.
That's fair enough. I'm only hold off to try and figure out exactly what I want to work on. Up in the air as to whether or not to just do the games I'm playing right onw (FTL, Borderlands, etc), to do classics and retro games people may have missed (Betrayal at Krondor, Vagrant Story...), or to try something else. I guess the best idea would be to just pick a game I feel like playing (Like Dark Souls) and just dive in.
Simon Lewis and Jesse for Dungeonland, TB that would be so awesome. I know its probably harder to organize the schedules but it would probably be the sweetest 3(or a number divisible by 3) part video ever. I say 3 parts cuz one for you one for Jesse one for Simon and Lewis. This way you promote two tgs channels that you recruited. Plus I'm sure you want to do something with Jesse that isn't 'garbage' (as you say) like Terraria. You guys could even make it a double perspective/comentary video.
Concerning the Podcast question: Felicia Day and StephenPlays were fantastic. Maybe the 2 best episodes for me, seriously. And I also agree that Josh from IndieStatik would be really nice to see from time to time since he has good knowledge of gaming history, and is involved in the indie scene, like you. My dumb oppinion.
Their Magicka play through was amazing ! And it might be done through perspectives since TB would be their enemy, they wouldnt want to really talk amongst themselves with his evil ears around, so we could get one video for each sides perspective, AND THEY'LL MAKE TWICE THE MONEY!
So this is why the playlist got popular all of the sudden. Well thanks Tb for sharing the playlist and please talk about metal again soon. Also i'm the one made the spotify playlist, Mara42.
I thank you, TB, and the stumpguy for that interesting conversation - I did not notice yet, that felicia day had been on the gamestation. I'm going to check this out right now. in the end, inarticulate "criticism" can be good for something :D
I get Hives, it's the most irritating thing ever (probably isn't but it feels like it). Stress induced as well. The most annoying thing is the come and go with no trace, so you go to a doctor and it feels weird saying "I'm covered in itchy lumps... but they've gone atm". People look at you like you're loosing it. Still haven't found anything that works for me other than waiting for the stress and ergo, the hives, to cease, so I feel your pain... or itch rather.
ENB is the absolute best for Dark Souls content. I cannot vouch for him hard enough. Covers everything - indepth lore, gameplay, guides, great commentary, pure love for the game. That said his Souls content isn't really too much of a LP, as I said his playthrough of Dark/Demons souls are more of guides and walkthroughs, though he does do LPs (YS Origin, Cave Story atm), I wouldn't really through his souls content in there with it.
I can very much relate TB, I also expose myself to hundreds of people everyday and it does become very stressful. Especially once the police get involved....
Arch Enemy is a great swedish melodic death metal band and with a female growler. Don't forget In Flames and Soilwork when it comes to creating "The Gothenburg sound"
Dark Tranquillity is awesome, GREAT lyrics. Melodic Death Metal is my favorite sub-genre of music. Some bands I really like that people may not know are Detonation and Dark Flood.
Honestly, for a Dungeon Master Game I think the dynamic between Simon, Lewis, and Sijn would be best. I feel Hannah and Duncan have their own styles which are great, but Hannah apparently doesn't have good commentating synergy with Lewis. Meanwhile, Duncan just seems better as the teacher or with Hannah. Sijn, however, did really well with Lewis and Simon on Tekkit and that's probably why they did extra episodes with him at Honeydew Inc.
Speaking of let's plays, I wouldn't mind seeing you play a couple games of FTL on the channel! I think it'd be great fun to follow your adventures in space.
Hey TB, In regards to your first answer to question about stress. I work in a high stress job also, but my stress breaks out into anxiety and lack of sleep, so its a little different to yours. But Have you tried acupuncture? I was skeptic at the start, but for stress management the Chinese herbs and relaxing treatments really do help allot. If you have not tried this yet, try it out, make sure you can find someone that likes to specialize in the area of stress/anxiety or depression.
Haha, I would've never guessed that TB has the same music taste as me. And yeah, as stated previously, he should check out Insomnium, as well as The Duskfall, System Shock, Scar Symmetry, Mors Principium Est, Lunarsea, Enter My Silence and other less recognized melodeath bands that resemble the Gothenburg style.
Swedish metal, hell yeah! Really like most of the bands you talked about in the video and it's interesting to hear what non Swedish people think of our metal bands. I tend to forget that many of the metal bands or maybe I should say most of them is more famous outside of Sweden.
He's been in a band, worked for radio and music was a big part of his podcast. The average person just listens to music. No need to feel ignorant when he's really into music and has been in the industry of it a little bit.
I love your comment on Swedish Death Metal. Could not agree more. I do however like In Flames, most of the CDs. The oldest CDs are a bit.. mjeh, not really my style. Reroute is definitly one of my favs of they're releases. You might want to check out Raubtier. Not sure if it's your style, and their lyrics are in Swedish, but their first album, Kamphund, is wicked.
i would like to say, i am in the same boat TB iv been getting rash's ect like you describe except mine arnt stress induced there xma induced and if i dont have anti histamines its a world of horrible discomfiture worse then been in pain, be glad the taking a holiday and finding away to completely relax will stop yourse, mine is a persistant 224hr nightmare

I'd really like to see guests tbh, of course maybe some screening or possibly just like 10 min interview just to talk about w/e might be a good idea. It's a chance for new people to get some spotlight, as well as the show never getting old.
I know that TB does not read youtube comments but hell worth a shot. Try listening to Sybreed and Septicflesh and Engel these 3 bands are just amazing and each are different :)
Blind Guardian are also the one band I've ever called my "favourite", nothing beats the experience of a crowd of BG fans singing along to every word of every song of a gig.
The one with Clint and every one with Jon continue to be the best podcasts to date. They really need to get Clint back on.
Blind Guardian IS amazing, ESPECIALLY live!
Oh and thank you for doing these Ask Anything videos. They are awesome.
TB, I enjoy your videos. I like your voice, your personality, and the open-minded, logical way you present games.
TB.. you are an awesome human.. no matter what people say YOU started something (an empire) that the kids that shout bs could never dream of..
I hope your job gets more stable.. you of all people deserve it..
hope the youtube hall of fame will forever remember your name.. else your community will.

You know what TB? you're so great that i really dont think you could ever lose an audience
It was a shock to hear that you like some genres like melodic death, but when you mentioned Amon Amarth, man, that was what killed it.
You and Yogs on Dungeon Land is a brilliant idea TB!
Clint also knew alot about the gaming scene and kept the podcast entertaining and quite funny while being able to talk about the subjects given.
The first Melo-Death band I found was Insomnium around about 2009 , which have stayed as i my favourite band. I then quickly found Dark Tranquillity, Kalmah, Hypocrisy, Amon Amarth and at the gates. When Jesse and TB hugged the universe imploded on itself
That feeling of seeing a new TB video up :)

this is really interesting to find all this new stuff about TB
Damn. Stabbing the Drama and Soundtrack to your Escape were my introduction to those bands.
Oldschool Gothenburgh is great! The newer stuff all sounds very similar, and they (imo) mostly seem to imitate In Flames at their peak. At the Gates and Dark Tranquility are still my absolute favorites to this day
More of this TB ! I love this thing !
Total Biscuit has cemented himself as a man I'd have a drink with. We could discuss games and metal, perfect.
Love this series, TB. Big thumbs up and favorite.
I would love more podcasts with Josh, Clint and Jon. I think them 3 are by far the best guest hosts. Josh is one of the most intelligent people on the gamestation and Jon and Clint are probably two of the funniest

I can't give you enough thumbs up for mentioning Carcass Heartwork. Legendary.
Finally, a CnC:Generals video game footage in one of TB's videos. The game is superb and so damn fun.
I never mentioned keeping one guest all the weeks. I said that it would be great of there were a few select guests that would rotate that are fun, and then every other week have a new guest outside of that selected circle.
I'd totally watch a video of them just hugging for half an hour straight.
Blind Guardian live is flat out amazing.

Oh my God TB knows time signatures and such. I just love him that much more now.
Amon Amarth is Melodic Death Metal with a Viking Theme. Johan Hegg himself said he doesn't want to be referred to as Viking Metal.
The dungeon land idea sounds really good
That's fair enough. I'm only hold off to try and figure out exactly what I want to work on. "My name has been Total Biscuit" 18:37
Neat
Holy crap, I just searched Soilwork right now, this is some great stuff TB. I like your taste.
please continue this series!
Pick what you feel comfortable with, it's always the easiest start.
So this is why the playlist got popular all of the sudden. Well thanks Tb for sharing the playlist and please talk about metal again soon. Also i'm the one made the spotify playlist, Mara42.
its funny how every thing he likes makes me love him more!
If you're interested in melodic death metal, definitely check out Insomnium and Be'lakor if you haven't already. Awesome melodies and good lyrics too.
I thank you, TB, and the stumpguy for that interesting conversation - I did not notice yet, that felicia day had been on the gamestation. I'm going to check this out right now.
in the end, inarticulate "criticism" can be good for something :D

I was really huge into melodic death metal. I started off finding some of In Flame's early stuff, then found others including Dark Tranquility
Listening to TB talking about Heave Metal for five minutes is even better than listening to him talk about the many flavors and naunces of biscuit.
I love Dark Tranquility. Hours Passed in Exile is my favorite song
I do hope you have more of theese questions to answer ( a lot more actually) it´s quite awesome haha.
Love these talk shows!
Hey Lord Biscuit, this is a awsome series.
I absolutely love that you are a fan of metal!
A tingling sensation. Why does that sound nice?
I'm getting stress induced bad coughs, I sometimes have to take pills against that too. I feel your pain TB.
YAY Jesse and TB hugged :3 True love indeed.
TB, thank god you have a great taste in music

TB as dungeon master, and Simon, Lewis, and Jessie. That would be amazing.
I love the reference to the good ol' Reliant Robin...if you don't know that "spectacular" car go look it up :)
Loving this series!
I really like Sounds of a Playground fading. Never really listen to a lot of death metal, but that album is just awesome.
Interesting to hear your metal tastes TB. I agreed with almost everything, especially on In Flames.
You are a Gothenburg metal fan?! I had no idea! I love you even more now!
Arch Enemy is a great swedish melodic death metal band and with a female growler.

I love CNC Generals. One of the best RTSs of all time.

My favorite podcast was the one with felicia day and the one where you were all in jesses house drinking crappy champagne...so funny.
In that case their music is still awesome ^^ The old stuff stays as strong as it is, obviously
I think IndieStatik did an amazing job on the TGS podcast. He is absolutely hilarious. Bring him on more!
honestly i wouldn't mind if TB just talked metal every now again as a show or a podcast that sounds like that could be pretty sweet.
who else thinks TB voice is one of the best voices on utube
Oh man I loved this game. I used to play the crap out of it back in high school. It still rocks :)
Oooh yeah, command and conquer generals shockwave! Nice to see you play that.
TotalHalibut speaks about swedish metal. Brings up Meshuggah.
You sir, just received + 100 respect from me. Where did you see them live?
Was it in sweden? I saw them at '' Metal Town '' in Gothenburg a few years ago :-).
KROSSA SOLEN METAL UNDERSÅTAR! - Translation: CRUSH THE SUN MY METAL SUBJECTS!
I remember that quote from the singer so well xD.
