  • We took a tour in Salem, Mass on Halloween! This house back in the day was considered to be a mansion. The actual murder mystery that took place here long ago was the inspiration for the popular board game, Clue. Illustrations on the board game actually resemble the REAL MANSION!!

I've walked past that house thousands of times but I never got to go in. I always wanted to arrange a live action Clue game in that very house. I think people live there though.

Clue (or Cluedo outside the States) was made in Birmingham, England and released by (John) Waddington Games LTD. The games creator, Anthony E. Pratt, was inspired to make Clue from the works of Christie and the murder mystery parties that he performed at (Pratt was a musician before World War II). His wife Elva designed the board and the characters. Some local at Birmingham claim that Tudor Close (The original UK name of the Clue mansion) was based on Highbury Hall.
Parker Brothers got the US rights to Cluedo from Waddingtons in exchange for UK rights of Monopoly. Given all this information, there is no way this story is true. Plus, the interior of the house no way matches any Clue board.
