This is the best tai chi channel on UA-cam.
Thank you for the high praise. We want to be the best channel so more people can learn along with us! 😃🙏
I hoped to see some wing chun viewpoints towards Tai Chi as well.
I also practice both - but my primary skill is within Wing.
To me there is almost no difference, except that the classic wing chun approach has their focus on getting the hands free to hit, (as you don't to get stuck to an opponent in a self defence scenario) while Tai chi gives you subtle qualities that allows you to "hijack" the opponents nervous system and structure without needing to free the hands at all.
However I find that a lot of Tai chi practitioners struggle with wing chun in some cases where the Wing guy is able to maintain a neutral point of contact.
But I guess this goes both ways anyway.. so...
It seem to me that it all boils down who knows themselves the best
What I’m hearing is you want to see Marlon beat me up more. I’ll tell him to hold back less the next time he visits! 😆
Good point about how it all boils down to the practitioners and their self awareness and skill with their art! 😃🙏

Haha EXACTLY!
Well.. I must admit It would be fun watching two great masters in an intense duel - where nobody moves an inch for 3 hours, while a guzheng is playing in the background!
Lets name the video "Tai Chi vs Wing chun ASMR"
@@Tequn9qHaha! I like the way you think! 😃🙌
From a Wing Chun perspective Tai Chi helps to augment an internal approach. A lot of the Wing Chun, even my early years was about the more aggressive explosiveness based on external principles. Chi Sau was seen as a Bridge to Sensitivity and could lead to internal development, however if you look at most Chi Sau it is still done in an aggressive external manor. Adding Tai Chi to my Wing Chun allows me to take my center away from my opponent. You saw how Sifu was able to take his center away from me. You really need to touch an experienced Tai Chi practitioner who is also skilled in its martial aspect to appreciate how your Wing Chun can become internal.
Great lesson 💯 💪
Thank you I’m glad you find it to be a helpful lesson! 😃🙌

very good lesson to demonstrate the power of KAO and ZHou .. . But how to do the KAO correctly and empty the force, should we stretch a little upwards? thank you very much Sifu. This video makes you want to sign up for your online lessons .
The key to doing Kao directly is to be aware of the movement of Neijin and to maintain your focus on it. It sounds a bit mystical but when you do each stage that leads to it you can see how it can be natural.
In Stage 1, Fascia Mastery you learn to maintain focus on manipulating fascia instead of fighting force on force. In Stage 2, you build your skill to maintain your relaxation that dissipates force through your tensegrity instead of being distracted or tempted to fight force on force. Then in Qi Mastery you learn to maintain your experience of Float and Sink, Yang and Yin. In each stage you learn to be aware of something more subtle and maintain focus on it. So that by the 4th stage you are ready to be aware of the feeling of Neijin acting upon your body in Peng Lu Ji An, Cai Lie Zhou and Kao. And all you have to do is mentally activate that flow and awareness of Kao through your shoulder and it will affect the way they align force against you.
You have a good point about stretching upwards. When you activate zhou and Kao there will be a tendency to stretch upwards naturally. I don’t actually focus or force that, but it’s something that will happen on its own. Good observation on your part. Thank you for your comment!
You’re welcome to take my courses if what I’ve described sounds interesting to you and sounds like something you would like to become skilled at! It’s not for everyone because I know some people just prefer to punch things in the face and to keep practicing that ha ha. I want this course for people who feel this is the kind of Tai Chi and skill you want to be good at. And if that’s you then I think you will really enjoy it. 😃🙏
@@phoenixmountaintaichi Thank you very much sifu for this precise explanation 🙏
Would love to see more of these mixed martial arts style sharing. I wonder how Tai Chi will combine with XingYi Quan.
Thank you for the comment! Check out this video in which we discuss the blend you suggested! 😃🙏

Interesting, works with Mantis the same!
Very subtle, but I can see how that would off balance an opponent and leave him open to.....just about anything you wanted to do. Or give you a window to shed him and escape. The combination of Both Arts seems to be very useful for close in grappling and short striking.
I might have asked you this before, but what do you think of the Russian Military Art of Systema? It appears to be very similar to Tai Chi. Or am I wrong?
Anyway, great video.
You’re right about the possibilities to create openings and options in close range! When I watch Systema performed by Mikhail Ryabko, I do see definite similarities especially in how they deal with intention and their relaxed striking. I highlight his because he is not as bendy or wiggly, in the sense that Yang Tai Chi usually has very little bending and twisting. It would be interesting to learn more about Systema! Thanks for bringing up these interesting topics! 😃🙏
@phoenixmountaintaichi 😎👍🏾.
@@lsporter88Systema has a lot of internal. I have not done it, but on close examination it is close to Tai Chi in principles. Systema has 4 pillars Breathing, Movement, Tension Release, and Structure.
@@nvisblfist1 That sounds a heck of a lot like Tai Chi to me. Thanks for that.
@@phoenixmountaintaichi I'd like to see a Demonstration of a Combination of Tai Chi and Systema. That might turn out to be something very useful...
I think it’s possible to take useful techniques of any martial art
to see the effectiveness pressure testing or a form of sparring is most effective
Tai chi with wrestling, Jiu jitsu, judo or even striking would be interesting
Totally! I think to grow as a martial artist you want to do both ends. A fairly open minded lab where you see what arises that could potentially be helpful. And a staged pressured department where you refine the promising techniques to be as efficient and reliable as possible. Science is very much like this, where you explore possibilities and new theories in Research, and refine the manufacturing, reliability, ease of use in the Development or Engineering. I’ll be sharing more of the wrestling and jiujitsu related content in future videos! I hope you enjoy them. Thank you for contributing your thoughts! 😃🙏
Wingchun combined with internal power
I think Wing Chun has its own form of internal power which suits its strategy and application. Here we look at how another flavor of internal power can complement and interact with Wing Chun, and what Tai Chi can learn from Wing Chun’s strategies and principles. Thank you for sharing your comment! 😃🙏
Your teaching and explanations have helped a lot, but feeling the energy in person was the missing link for me. You have to feel Tai Chi to appreciate it
@@nvisblfist1You’ve got a great point again! Because how Tai Chi feels is so unusual and unexpected, you can learn even more by experiencing it directly. 😃🙏

Wing Chun has internal power. Been teaching this exact concept for a long time now
@@wcjourneyThat’s super awesome to hear! What do you enjoy teaching people most in Wing Chun, especially in regard to internal power?
I would like to connect with you. Tai Chi with Chin Na. Then combine sticking and pushing hands with kinetics you have something . Where do you live> Soft style is everything.
