Got into trials last year at age 42. Having a blast and the injuries are bumps and bruises instead of broken bones. Go for it especially if you’re “past your prime”!

48 and just picked up a 2018 Beta Evo 250 and it's a blast, been watching and wanting a trials bike for over 20 years. My only other riding experience has been ~18 years on super sport.

I'm 47 turning 48 next March.. Thinking on getting started with trials before jumping on enduro/super enduro/hard enduro bike.. That injury risk factor in trials biking soumds more relevent at this age then 😂😂

One of the best things you can get into for all round Moto skills. Very rewarding and highly addictive. 😎

I only had the opportunity to ride a trials bike a few times, but I loved it! I remember reading in Dirt Bike magazine, back in the day, about the benefits of riding trials...even if you didn't have a trials bike. They said that Guy Cooper used to ride trials and we know how good he was...and probably still is!!!

You can have fun with a trials bike in a 10 square foot area. You will find your skills getting better in a short time. Get an open face helmet and you will be able to see better. Congratulations!

Good for you, @Dirt Zen! Keep in mind, the first 20-30 minutes will be awkward. I predict you will love it! You'll also transfer the confidence and skills back and forth between this and your dirt bike. Good trials boulders (all skill levels) to play on out at Bulldog, too! Which year, make, model are you getting?

one thing ive noticed (very new to trials riding) is it forces me to stand up a lot on some of the tougher stuff that I normally would sit down on w. an enduro bike. so it "gets me comfortable" on standing and even to 1 foot dabbing over tough obstacles to transfer over to enduro bike, although dabs take off points lol. trying to learn or figure out how to start "balancing" off the trails front hops etc super hard to do lol. people make it look so easy while its not

Do you use middle finger for brake and clutch? I always used to do that but been using pointer instead and feel like i can pull way harder without changing brake or clutch than i could when middle fingers were on brake or clutch

Can you do a video all about the trials bike? Like going over it in detail with the functions and bits to it? That would be helpful to know before buying one. Thank you!

A trials bike is best to start on because it teaches you to stand up when riding.

Hola, yo entreno con una Gas Gas 270 JTX y me permite mejorar mi conducción con cualquier trail. Se nota mucho si practicas trial, te permite tener otra perspectiva del pilotaje. Un abrazo desde Valencia, ESPAÑA.

The trials guys at my club say you can't go wrong on any of them within the last 15-20 years, but the new ones have night and day power compared to the older ones. I've only rode the older models around the 2000-2005 era.

I have a 06 SY250 Scropa and a 17 factory beta 250, the 06 is a great bike but the 17 is a night and day difference more power, better suspension more grip and feels lighter, I am only at it less than a year.

@@obscured021 Rad, I have an 18 Factory Sherco now. It's a nice bike. Really hate working on it though. Probably all trials bikes though, seem to be a Rubix Cube to work on.

I’m not sure I agree with your assessment of not being able to pick up trials skills past your Prime. I’m 54 and just got my first trials bike. It has helped in a lot of ways. I wish I works have had one back in the ‘90s when I was learning Enduro.

I (I'm by no means bragging) can do any of this on my GasGas 300.... I ride it on the pegs the whole time on technical trails so I was wondering if I could get more technical trials type riding, but ALSO do 18 miles on singletrack type trails. I know standing that long will be an issue, but that aside ... can I grab the tank with my knees / loosely hold on to the handle bars, or will I be just getting arm pump within 5 minutes?
