I own this X5 M50i V8TT and it is a rockstar in everything it does. This is a luxury/performance SUV that will absolutely embarrass unsuspecting sports cars. It’s that fast. I drove them all before ordering a fully loaded Carbon Black with ivory Merino interior. No air suspension in mine and the M performance suspension is exactly what you want yet still plush on long road trips. The M performance brakes is also enormous and stops this big SUV like a little M car. Laser lights are next level amazing. It way out classed the Cayenne Turbo in its build quality and tech . Performance felt about the same but the grunt of BMW’s V8TT felt stronger everywhere in the revs. I agree as to the upcoming X5M as it’s far too extreme for a luxury/performance SUV and may be a liability on long trips because of its low hanging radiators. At no time do I ever feel like I want/need any more power. It’s already a beast. FYI: I am getting sub 4 seconds 0-60mph via Draggy times and NOT using launch control. Great review.

I bought a 2020 X5 M50i 2.5 months ago. It was "built" last week, and I'm expecting delivery on Jan 30th, 2020. Alpine white, Coffee brown leather, open-pore anthracite poplar wood trim, Bowers & Wilkins 20-speaker stereo, and air suspension. I absolutely cannot wait for it to arrive. Thanks for doing this review. Lots of X5 (low end) reviews, lots of X7 reviews, and even a few X6 reviews.... but the specific X5 M50i is an important car... not sure why no thorough reviews have been done yet. It's important, because you get the "power" of an M car, but without all the harshness, noise, and high insurance premiums. I could not agree with you more that this car is actually "all-around" better than an X5M. It's an SUV, and even in "full blown M form", it is still never going to handle like a sportscar, so why bother? Enjoy the luxury SUV for what it was intended for; Luxury. And.... enjoy knowing the fact that acceleration is damn-near supercar levels when you want it. My only complaint, is that while there are plenty of Idrive reviews, there are NOT a lot of reviews on the Bowers & Wilkins stereo. It's a $4000+ upgrade, and not many people are willing to spend that much on a stereo upgrade. I am. Music is THAT important to me. Your tester has the B&W stereo. I would have loved to hear your opinion on it, particularly compared to the standard Harman Kardon. Otherwise.... great video. Thank you!

Does your tester have the dynamic handling package equipped? I hear that package is necessary on this car. Also please test the 40i variant. I am curious how well that performs.
Kiplin Gordon the 40i has way less power , this has 530 hp that has 334 hp , the 40i gets to 100 in 5.5 seconds this one in around 4.2 . So there you go .
The M50i is available with 3 suspension options: 1) Standard adaptive suspension 2) Dynamic handling package 3) 2 axle air suspension with integral active steering. This car had #3... so it can be a bit "floaty" but is super comfortable. It also allows 5-way height adjustment with a switch in the car. The DHP provides better handling and cornering... but no height adjustment. The standard adaptive suspension is fine for most people. It's what comes on the car without options. I got the air suspension because I need an ultra soft suspension where I live due to road conditions.... but I do recognize that my handling suffered from it. If I lived somewhere with smooth roads, I would have gotten the DHP. So... DHP isn't really "necessary".... it just depends on how you want to use the car.
cosmiqueorg Cognac with carbon fiber would’ve looked great. Definitely better than that aluminum. I’m young and I think aluminum looks cheapish for an inlay.
Please someone explain to me, completely unbiased, what's cool about SUVs. I couldn't care less about emissions, but I have a hard time believing someone would prefer the looks of these unnecessarily big cars instead of a nice coupe or sedan. I don't even think that sport SUVs should exist because from my perspective, these look far from sporty. A coupe or sedan does that way more.
Its like saying G63 is bulky not useful design or good economy or space or performance, yet its selling crazy..... same for SUVs its one of those cars once you get you always want the same.... the idea that your legs sitting in normal position than straight into pedals, or being high compared to others, or be able to go anywhere without worry, and for ladies for some reason they seem more safe in SUVs.... me personally i prefer sports cars but i must have SUV in the garage, it ticks all the boxes for me if you get a high end one like this X5, they drive now like sedans and amazingly good
Stop using gopros. Hire a cameraman with some cool canon cameras . It wont cost you much but you will get a nice video quality . And the viewers might also like it .
Depends on what you are buying it for. If you want the fastest SUV then Model X is the wagon for you. Luxury plus Power....Porsche and Range are more plush and roomy but significantly more money. M50i is the best of both worlds...Power and Luxury for under 100k.

That steering wheel looks like it doesn't belong there. 👍
without a doubt the best looking suv on the market
The only 1% of people who rated 1/5 and 2/5 are Mercedes fanboys
Naah im a merc fanboy and I rate this car over the current GLE
Active steering doesnt exist anymore though? It’s integral active steering( 4wheel steering)

Tartufo and wood better than black and alu?? Yeah sure, if you're like 95 years old maybe.
cosmiqueorg Cognac with carbon fiber would’ve looked great. Definitely better than that aluminum. I’m young and I think aluminum looks cheapish for an inlay.
Shouldn't that be a lower case "m"50i
M8 when?
4:22 yoooooo???!!!😟💀📸📸📸🎥
Nächste Auto mit H Kennzeichen wäre mal was😋👍🏽
This is not The same as The m5 That is x5m
Changed colour to white and black details, after seeing the car in that boring grey. Interior in Cognac 👍
When you have uber passenger, but have to do a car review.
A coupe or sedan does that way more.
space?
Its like saying G63 is bulky not useful design or good economy or space or performance, yet its selling crazy..... same for SUVs its one of those cars once you get you always want the same.... the idea that your legs sitting in normal position than straight into pedals, or being high compared to others, or be able to go anywhere without worry, and for ladies for some reason they seem more safe in SUVs.... me personally i prefer sports cars but i must have SUV in the garage, it ticks all the boxes for me if you get a high end one like this X5, they drive now like sedans and amazingly good
Do car brands lend you cars for you to take the test?
with this power,may run>260 km/h.obvious,is speed limited.
what you say is true.
Joker,thank you
Nice
You should drive a C32 amg 2002 v6
역시 BMW
Stop using gopros. Hire a cameraman with some cool canon cameras . It wont cost you much but you will get a nice video quality . And the viewers might also like it .
If money was no issue would you go for this or the Cayenne Turbo?
Depends on what you are buying it for. If you want the fastest SUV then Model X is the wagon for you. Luxury plus Power....Porsche and Range are more plush and roomy but significantly more money. M50i is the best of both worlds...Power and Luxury for under 100k.
@@Caddy92680 have driven the Porsche Cayenne turbo vs m50i?
Are driving dynamics similar? Comfort? Would you recommend air suspension or m sport suspension in m50i?

In a car park nobody would look twice at that.....which could be a good thing.
Rightfully so, when I see "luxury" SUVs I think to myself what a waste. Whatever wealthy idiot that's driving this could have bought a nice sports car for that amount of money.
@@DigitalDissident Some people value comfort and convenience over performance. And if the luxury SUVs you're alluding to are owned by car enthusiasts I can guarantee they also have at least one nice sports car at home.
