It all sounds great! I find that half the battle after an injury is mental - just getting the confidence that it won't happen again takes time. My post-injury path has me focusing more on strength training and starting reformer pilates. I hope you have fun trying something new with the tri. Here's to both of us building back well, and running strong in Valencia 😊
Sounds like great steps post injury. I had to have a deep look into mine, so now have to focus on not getting Vitamin D Deficient, but also being better with food. I was getting a good amount of fuel, but not in the right way (I was backloading the day not necessarily fuelling workouts at the right time!) but it’s all a learning curve I guess! Cannot wait for Valencia! It’s going to be amazing and hopefully an amazing way for us to end the year 🎉❤️
Can relate so well to this. I had a severe stress fracture in the beginning of 2021 (had been running with pain for 6 months), and had to take a 9 month break from running. I still remember the jolt of pain, it hit out of the blue during a run, and that was me done running for a long time. So nice to see you making your come back :)
Can really relate to this, I am also an injured runner who took up swimming for my mental health and a bit of cardio fitness...now I'm thinking about entering a Triathlon! Might see you on the start line somewhere! Good luck for all your summer plans :)
Sounds like a really good plan. You've made some really incredible progress over the past 18 months and it doesn't disappear overnight. Stay patient, you'll get there!
Can honestly say triathlon training has made me a better runner and have had pb after pb In my running events training for triathlon. I do long distance triathlon but the aerobic volume from swim + biking has really translated. Good luck training.
360 pounds, I think it would be significantly higher to pay for an MRI out of pocket here in the US (which is sad, but that is the state of affairs here). Very cool that you can go get it privately - I know that one of the caveats to national healthcare is that you could have longer wait times to get appointments. But overall, I'm envious of most of Europe's health care systems. Anyway, summer is the time for running sloooow so it's a great time for you to be rebuilding. It's warming up here too and I'm watching my Garmin give me updated heat acclimation percentages (up to 38% as of today!). Just finished up Tunnel Marathon and now starting the slow trail build up to an October trail 100K. I may throw in a random race in between now and then 🙂
If not taken care of, that’s a bad injury I was told by a few people that I could run through it and what it did was change my form and then gave me runners knee in the other leg so then I walked away from everything. Got the pression, ate pizza and all this other stuff and now my body is healed 20 pounds heavier Starting again to put it all back together so I think you did the right things looking forward to hearing about your crush in that marathon thing as good as when we hear about injuries I guess we can learn how to do things better when we get them sure wish I never ran a mile but I did so in the end mine took me you could say almost oh well over a year to get healed because of the stupid things I did so glad you took the time off. Looking forward to the next video is coming out.
Coming back from injury slowly. I have entered Valencia Marathon too and the New Forest Half as I'm in the UK that week. Its too hot to push the training at the moment.
Hey Kelly - nice "to see" you again 🙂 good luck with the training . You didnt mention the tennis on Strava ? I thought you were getting ready for Wimbledon 😀
Oh I almost “drowned” the 1/2 mile (they have volunteers in kayaks for people like me 😂). In fact, I did a lot stationary biking (or is it cycling?) when injured. Got to do heart rate training and cadence. It will be shockingly bad running again, like it did nothing, but i got my a modicum of fitness back pretty fast. But this led to my first and only tri, which was fun…

Stress fractures suck. Good about the gardening though. I post shorts about my gardening every now and then. It's nice.
Welcome back!
See you at Ironman UK this time next year 🤣🤣!!
