I live in New York. Every winter Flin Flon makes its way onto the northern most part of our abc affiliate’s weather map. And I look for it every morning.
We had a cottage out at bakers narrows from 1972-2014 , Grew up there in the summers and fall , Best fishing and place of beauty !
This is so cool to see cuz I've lived here for my whole life!
Man I really want a full length version of that guitar track.
I remember watching this when I was little; I really wanted that submarine.
Ha ha that so cool.
when I was younger, I thought the submarine looks like a fish
Canada vignettes hands up
That air raid siren, lol. Was it noon and 5PM. I forget
YES!!!!! I couldn't believe this was about Flin Flon, I was certain it was but it somehow felt like that made no sense. So i looked up NFB submarine n sure enough! Oh man when i was a kid back in like 89 i was enamored with that submarine. So glad to have found it again lol
What they don't tell you: Flin (as he's called in the book) left the "glittering land" because it was run by women.
Funny as fuck
Every time I see this vignette the looks like a model kit at the start
Every Flyers fan knows about Flin Flon.

Flin Flon.. FLIIN FLOOONNNN
I rather enjoyed that!
Interesting. In America we have a state, California, which got its name from a fantasy book. Published in 1510, it told of a mythical island called California, and the Spanish explorers thought that they had found it when the arrived at what is now called Baja California.
I thought that the Flintabbatey Flonatin statue looked similar to the Hi Neighbor Sam statue

Wait. Wasn't Gimli MB named after Gimli from Lord of the Rings? @2:47 lies!
He said a 'science fiction' hero. LOTR is fantasy. Splitting hairs maybe, but I'll give it to them
porterism100 Considering this was directed in 1978, & Blade Runner didn't come out until '82, I don't really consider anything pre-Blade Runner to be real science fiction. Sure there were "Robits", but Blade Runner set the standard for everything we know as sci-fi today.
Excuse me? How about Star Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Frankenstein, or any of the works of HG Wells?
I lived there
me too, left and never looked back

I’m so home sick.
why? lol
Is this a good place to retire?
You would have to go somewhere on the winter it gets extremely cold
Yeah i love it here
Yes there is more then one retirement home here!
I was born there
only if plan on going senile, lol.
There is nothing to do up there unless you really love fishing an freezing your ass off.
They have mosquito's almost the size of humming birds.
Billions of horse flys and sand fly's and if that isnt enough giant pinching beetles called spruce bugs. You can enjoy summer if you want to be constantly lathered in Bug spray and sun screen, your only reprieve from the constant bombardment of biting insects is winter which is very long very cold and very life threatening especially if you run out of fuel on your sled in the wrong place or fire wood in the middle of the night, Never mind the months of icolation where you dont see any one because your car wont start and nobody ventures out on those -50 degree Celsius months. Go visit it in mid july then mid january and you will get a feel of whether you like it or not.
This film was made prior to the feminists taking over the NFB.
Feminists are out to get ya! 😂😂😂
