They don't make good music like this it's so swingy and smooth
This is a great song. My parents played this and Rockin' Good Way over 60 years ago when I was a kid and loved it ever since..
When people could actually sing. Brook Benton and Dinah Washington could flat out 'SANG!"
This song brings back memories of my late daddy. He would put this on the record player all the time. I miss him.😭
Black artist need much More appreciation for rhythm and soul going all the way back. Not to take away from very talented artist of ALL races.
Classic!❤🙂 RIP two legends Ms. Dinah Washington and Mr. Brook Benton!🫡🫡💐💐
Dinah Washington and Brook Benton had gorgeous voices! This song is fabulous. The movie Blue Sky featured it!
@@user-oj8zn6ww3qthe movie Blue Sky with Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones!
I was 8 years old,now I'm 72 plus,Love those oldies days of years past while I had a time travel machine I'd go back & never ever come back to today.!!!👼😇💆👶❣️
Hey, Carlos, me too I was 9 years old (71 now) when I first heard this song, played it over & over on the ''New Radiogram'' I've only now just read that they didn't get along & I never noticed but towards the end Brook starts to sing Dinah's line & in the background she can be heard to say, Your in my spot, people thought it was friendly banter but you can hear she's spitting venom. We also had The Inkspots Album (I still love hearing the Piano solo in Don’t Get Around Much Anymore), Rock Island Line by Lonnie Donegan & See You Later Alligator by Bill Haley, Mom sure had a good taste in music, yeah miss those days so much. Anyway, here we are, Cheers Mate
This song was released in January 1960, the same year I was "released" from my mum's womb. The song has aged far better than I have. It is still so cool!
Dinah & Brook - what a combination - Two of the Biggest singers of all times putting their talents together to give us such Great Music - The album “The Two of Us”. Gave us some Great Songs - every song was a hit on their own. I play the album and enjoy it every time I play it. Thanks Dina - Thanks Brook - Both of you will live on in your music - Music is an International Language and it is spoken every where you go. You both left us a lot of memories - God Bless you both - Dinah & Brook
This song grabs and will not turn you loose until it's ready
Now 65 years old and this song sounds as good as it Did when I was a kid
Two of my all time favorites!! Gone but never forgotten!! RIP angels!! You definitely had what it takes
I love, love, love this version with Brook and Dinah.
THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO THRILL THIS 80 YR OLD ALL OVER AGAIN....A GEM!!!

Here is a perfect example of how two voices can blend together so wonderfully.
Love Dinah and Brook!! This is real R & B!!
The people who dont like this have no sence of good music great song great singers even though in was in the past good music never dies
Wow. I remember my parents listening to this song back in the 60s. It still sounds awesome and the lyrics are timeless.
1960's CLASSIC! Absolutely beautiful melody.
One of my favourites songs of all time.
There are singers who've made tens of millions who cant touch either of these 2 legends
Im here after watching Blue Sky. Magnificent - Jessica Lange and Tommy Lee Jones. Class acting
.....and class soundtrack
GREAT MOVIE about a woman who tends to be a nympho
Unbeknownst to herself
But hubby loves her and knows she's a sick chick
A very happy song .when I feel depressing I listen to this song makes me feel happy .
I really like the voice of Brook Benton. So sad he had such a very short life. Died at age 56 in 1993. Another beautiful voice silenced.
So true. I'm just so thankful i was born at a time when the truly great artists like Brook, Sam, Ray, Nat, Dinah, Sarah, Johnny Mathis, Timi Yuro, and a host of many other greats were recording. Great music never dies.
what a song and what a voice Brook Benton had!!!
My mother loved this song
Hear Dinah saying" you took my spot " Brooks voice is like velvet
Dinah was extremely popular, she was called the Queen of the Blues and was a well--established star when she cut this, from what I have read about Dinah Washington she took no guff
from any body.
The late great,Brook Benton, how cool and how dapper and sharp could one man be.
This is What I’m Talking About. This Is Music
This lady could blow. Perfect duet. Two legends.
This song is timeless. It sounds as if it was done yesterday, September 19-2020.
Brook Benton and Dinah Washington two of the greatest blues singers ever
This is a classic ,there is nothing like it or as good in the last 40 years of popular music
This song is a part of my music collection. Absolutely awesome. Real music..not like these nonsense nowadays.
My mom told me about this song about 8 years ago and I've loved it so much ever since. It reminds me of she and my dad. RIP DADDY, he died 7 years ago to. Their marriage of 48 years was a TRUE fairytale. Willie H. & Willie Jewel Ware... True lovebirds. 😍😘😍
msware0104 God Bless u n yours msware, God is Good, this time and a feeling good n moving n a shakin hahaha, GREAT DAY TO U n YOURS n u fabulous mama for introducing it !! great ma u have
Brook Benton Great singer 👍
Another Masterpiece for future generations to enjoy! Thank you, Brook & Dinah!
Note that, at about the 2:00 mark, after the end of a bridge lyric that Brooke sang, he comes in on her line. He makes a funny comment, she keeps singing, and after finishing the line, she says, "Now it's you." They both assumed this wouldn't be used, but the producer liked the ad-libbed byplay, and it became part of the released version.
She didn't like him, and even said she doesn't need him, why am I fooling with this record?
+Jeffry Burden One of the reasons why this remains one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES is the realness of this performance.
this song is one sure way of achieving Nirvana of body & soul ! Amen
This has to be the very best version of this great duet type song. I love it.
It is but Josh Turner does a great version too. Check him out on UA-cam
john george yes Mr John, I agree man, it DEFINANTLY will git u a moving n a shakin!! Haha great day to u n yours always !!
Sant Andreu Jazz band 2017 (Joan Chamorro YT channel) did a great version, too

I have great memories of my parents dancing to this song. After all these years, I still love that rockin' rhythm and those great voices!
I can see my Granny sitting @ the kitchen table singing and preparing dinner! What great tmes in our home🥰🤗💖! We never had a lot of $ . But we had SOOOOO MUCH LOVE, GOD AND A LOT OF 45 RECORDS🥰👏🏾! WE WERE HAPPY 🙌🏾💖
Now this was before my time. But at 52 years old and I rediscovering Ms. Dinah Washington..Treasure
Hard to believe that two people who in real life disliked each other so intently could crank out such a timeless duet!
Шикарный дуэт!!! Великолепное исполнение!!! Очаровательная песня!!! 😀👏👏👏
wie schön das man das noch auf YT hören kann !!!!!!!!
These giants of yesterday were really the ever lasting kings and queens of sweet music at its best
I love this song, and hearing them sing-bicker makes me giggle! They couldn't stand each other, and gave us this masterpiece!!!
after all these years this is so AWESOME👍🏿🎸🎸🎸🎸
Love this Oldie still have on CD This song came out 1960 the year I was born Love the Rock and Roll songs I could listen to them all day long The 1950s and 1960s Rock and Roll music I've listened to the Oldies half my life never got tired listen to this music Chuck Berry Fats Domino Little Richard The Drifters The Coasters Brook Benton and Dinah Washington are Classics Rest In Peace Rock and Roll singers!!!!!
Saw Dinah in a club in Vancouver BC 1961, amazing performance. September in the Rain had just hit it big I think
Just simply superb what a couple of fantastic singers.Jimmy
Amie Ryalls yes ms. amy, I agree!! great day to u n yours always!! keep a moving n a shaking hahahah
My mom bought this album back in '60, with this track, she wore it out!..
I love this tune, Dinah Washington is so sassy!
They both should be in the hall of fame.
I love this!
Can't believe I've never heard it before!
Hoo baby! Just listen to those voices! This always makes me go wild! Sad that those days are gone, and replaced with government induced climate and covid fears and lockdowns where people are afraid to come together and have good old fashioned fun!
Sounds better NOW than the original stereo on the LP & CD when each singer`s voice came out of a different speaker. A lot of stereo from `58-`60 was like that.Great Job!
One of the great duo songs sung by 2 masters, Brook and Dinah. I could listen to this all day.
One of the best vocal match ups ever! And, they sound like they were having a lot of fun doing it. Thanks Brook and Dinah!
Ralph Cavallone Dinah was one strong person, true, She was angry about Benton, BUT for my money, the anger came afterwards.Again, for ME,what I feel in this track, and HEAR, aside from 2 superb singers,is controlled laughter. This starts very early, which I believe is where Benton has dived in early, and sung Her lines, HENCE, Baby youre in my spot AGAIN!!! Two total professionals, carried on, [anybody else, would stop, and start again!!!]ON the next track, following this"ROCKING GOOD WAY"same infectious feeling, personally, I cannot feel how they could sing like this if angry!! The whole scene, they sound, totally, like they are enjoying themselves.
I've been rockin to this song since I was 4 years old. I'm now 69 and still rockin to it😅😂❤
Very beautiful song. There voices are great together. I love it. You can always listen to the song. You never get bored.
Just can’t beat the best singers when they pair up to sing a song together, smooth , great music.🇨🇦👍
These two were the greatest !!
As the story goes, these 2 singers HATED each other in real life!
They certainly hid it well in the studio. True professionals if they could still sound this good together.
I think Mz Washington may have been a little hard to work with, while Brook seems so gentle and humble...ijs. Love Mr Benton.💗🎤❤🎶
True...Listen to the comment that Dinah Washington makes in this song 2:04 "You're In My Spot Honey".Sounds playful, but Dinah was not happy with Mr Benton who snaps back "I like your spot". The record is one of, if not the top duet of the 20th century.
The late great Dinah Washington, and the late great Brook Benton, awesome.
Best collaboration you got what it take
Oh the memories!!!! Thanks for this! When music was so simple!
Gosh how I love this.
One of my favorite songs of all time.
Gets me dancing every time, fantastic song , two fantastic singers!
This is Dinah and Brooke Benton's, You've got what it takes, is one of their best duos. It makes me happy to know that real love takes work. This song is tops. HCB, Jr.💌🌹💝🎁
When I'm having a bad day; this song takes me away to a piece of beach down near the OBX / Ocracoke Island, NC. Remembering cherished family vacations during the 1960's. We didn't get to vacation often; so these were special times. I remember hearing this song being played quite a bit at the Community Store / market ...downtown Ocracoke. And; this song played in a scene from the movie: "Nights In Rodanthe".
Nothing better than this music. Smooth wonderful voices. Need I say more.!!
Was! Is! Always will be the absolutely best duo EVER!!! and they were damned good in their own right, as well!!
This is My Kind of Music, They ARE Both Incredible 💖💖💖
Their voices are incomparable. They are special talents. What great music. Thank you for posting.
Ah, Perfect imperfection. If this would have been a clean take, it wouldn't have half the charm. We've all been blessed with this, in my opinion, greatest duet of all-time.
Brook and Dinah oooh make me feel alive again 😊
They really had what it takes. Such a wonderful performance to listen to. Great music, great fun. Even if Brook was in her spot a little.
Two perfect voices singing a rocking tune terrific!!
Una canzone, un ritmo...indovinatissimi! Un classico del rock di tutti i tempi...
Grew up hearing these songs and they are still great
love it. wish we had more of this today playing on the radio. they had what it "takes".
Sadly today's kids think this is "boring boomer music." I'm 17 and I love this type of music from the 1940s 50s 60s 70s
they were great singers, but they never got along, they did not like each other.
@@louisvaccaro5865
That may be, but on this great track they seem to have a good time while singing together...
@@lena-mariaglouis-charles7036 Hi Lena & Louis, thanks for your reply, Dinah, was a beautiful person, and had a fabulous voice, who could really tug at your heart strings, and Brook Benton, the bo weavel man, had a deep rich baratone voice. together when singing, they were beautiful. back then you really had to have a good voice, no fudging. today the music has changed, to be honest with you, not to my liking.perhaps because im a senior.Im a tenor,an opera singer, i do all types of singing, and went on americas got talent in san francisco, in 2012. my favorite group was tony williams, & the platters. Tony was one of the finest tenors, i have ever heard. i use to sing some of his songs. all the best to you Louie Vaccaro, las vegas.
I miss you Daddy. Thank you for blessing me with these songs of my childhood. 😭😭😭
A great great song thank you Brook & Dinah
What a collaboration. Pure dynamite! First heard this tune at an early age. I got involved in choir because of his voice.
To the 33 people who disliked this, you clearly don't have what it takes
They probably think Kanye is the epitome of class and great music....which he has neither
Some people don't like fragrance but put their head in garbage . Ignore please !
Millions and millions love this song . I am in top bracket 😀
Ramirez Flores, Man after my heart, Clearly you are spot on!! No one could have said it better!! One more time, Ramirez: Say it!
Brook and Dinah .........ROCK!!!!!!
Yeah! These songs will always have you bopping your head😄
Brook Benton should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
So true! They give out these awards now like candy to people who often don't have the real talent. Brook Benton was amazing!
Hands down. One of the GREATEST voices ever.
Why isn't he?
Totally agree
Unfortunately if he'd been just 10 - 15 years younger he'd have had greater exposure and acceptance. He was a pioneer and far too few black artists got the recognition their talent deserved. Thank God we've moved forward since!
