Punjabi was my first language. I am half Indian and I grew up with these devotional shabds (hymns),and they were a part of my spiritual path as well, as my Indian guru used to have people sing these at satsangs (holy gatherings). I learned to sing these as an adjunct to my meditation practice.
well, my spiritual path is a perennial philosophy called surat shabd yoga or inner light and sound meditation. it is in the ancient lineage of sant kirpal singh, who was a great spiritual scientist/mystic. really, the beliefs are not new age, but rather very very ancient spirituality, also known as mysticism.

everything is connected ;) my spiritual teacher used to give initiation to extraterrestrials on other planets as well :) we are all connected...
