Bummer you guys didn't come to Australia , would have loved to see . Had this song from a friend before it was released in Oz and it became a favourite at the pubs .
A combination of Gibson Les Paul n a Fender Telecaster on vintage low gain tubes plus a band that's as Rock n Roll as Rock n Roll can, this is just about as good as it gets🎵👍🎸
Warner Hodges,and Big Man Dan!!!It just dont get any better than that...swiping a quote,from Mr.Hodges,...your ole pal,from the eighties,Jack Rabbit,says good on you,Boys!
I see a lot of comments about the guitars - and they do sound great - but did anyone else notice that lady laying down those solid, tasty bass lines holding the groove together like gorilla glue?
That is Allison Presswood and indeed one of the best bass players to ever play the instrument. I've recorded her many times on every conceivable type of music in the studios of Nashville and she's a true pro and great human!

I remember myself driving my mom's Pony (a Greek - wannabe - Jeep kind of Version) loaded with four of my senior high school friends, listening to this song back in 1988, heading to Chania City, in Crete Island of Greece where I grew up, put the speakers to "ARE YOU NUTS?" level, getting the breeze in our hair and feeling the immortal youth in our skin, believing that we're gonna have all the girls in town, just because we thought we were the coolest kids with this song... glory days.
andyinoregon. Dan and I were never close, in fact we were never friends. That doesn't change the fact that I have seen him and his bands perform in excess of 300 times and have the utmost respect and admiration for him.
Thank You Dan for all the music over the years, this music will live on forever!! Love all his work, solo and with the bands!! Saw him 2x times here in Vienna, Austria many many years ago!! a Real RockandRoller!!
As an 80 year old male, having lived through wars, served as a soldier in the Malayan one and experienced the birth, nurturing and arrival of rock 'n' roll I have, in all honesty to say that this, in its original form by the Georgia Satellites and in this version is a superb recording, both lyric-wise and instrumentally [shades of Staus Quo leak through a little] but, all in all, well, I am listening it again...
I’ve loved this song since it was first released. Coincidentally, I was also a huge Jason and the Scorchers fan at the same time. Great seeing Warner Hodges playing with Dan!!!

They may be considered a country band by some ....but it doesn't get anymore Rock and Roll then this! Straight ahead Chuck Berry ...Wonder if Keith Richards has covered this one?
mgunde - That one hit has enabled Mr. Dan Baird to make a living doing what he loves for 30 plus years now. The song is a classic. We should all be so lucky.
I just wonder..... how many struggling independent bands would KILL to have one HUGE hit like this? One MONSTER hit is better than wallowing in the complete unknown realm for 40 years.
@@ROCK-vl5yw Well, I was a studio musician for 35 years & although I didn’t have a hit as a solo artist, I played on 185 number one albums by other artists that did. Does that satisfy you? Now, how many hits have YOU had?
I miss talent and music like this ❤
One of the BADDEST country classics EVER! EXCELLENT!
This isn't country its southern rock
they rocked it!! I've always liked this band. I hope they still tour and come to Detroit.
Bummer you guys didn't come to Australia , would have loved to see . Had this song from a friend before it was released in Oz and it became a favourite at the pubs .
Is that Warner Hodges on lead? One of the best guitarists EVER. Loved Jason and the Scorchers.
Yes
O yes, it even sounds like Jason & the scorchers
I can safely say that warner is the only guitarist where i can listen to a solo he plays and know that its him playing it, even if its not his song
We saw J&TS with Homemade Sin a few years back and Warner played both sets! Tele with Jason, Les Paul with Dan.
Love Dan to the moon and back
Humbly I share I have sang this song with so many hot bands from Atlanta, S Fl, to Sarasota over 3 decades that I get what’s going here. TFlood
he his the best rocker around and with warner in tow they are unbeatable
Otis Gibbs interviews him and he talks about how he wrote this song.
Is that one of those Nashville Scorchers? Hell yeah!
Dan's the man! Too bad the crowd was limp. Never play an AA meeting.

Warner Hodges rocks
Fantastic stuff Dan. Maybe we are related? Most of us Bairds come from Scotland. Love to do the research.
This song from which I awoke in R&R !

Great Stuff: You Can Really Hear The Faces Influence on this, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌞🙏
I had the same thought the first time I heard The Black Crowes' "Jealous Again" on the radio.
Esa dama toca la guitarra bajo magistralmente
Dan Baird guitar and vocals, Warner E Hodges guitar, Allison Presswood bass and Brad Pemberton on drums.
Grandissimi

@@geraldbrown2875no, she’s too young to be Carol Kaye at that point. Very cool though that you know who she is!

Dan Baird's voice is God's gift to rock and roll. This song saved us from synth-pop back in 1986.
+andyinoregon I loved both genres. :)
In -83
Yep he killed it still! Wow.... its a great song period. Simple and effective.

Wonderfully chaotic --I love it---proper rock and roll , Bless you guys xox
it's a great song, any questions ?
She nailed the bass line. Closest I've ever heard it played to the record.
she is the most famous and used female bass player (hitman) in the world.
Is that Carol Kaye on the bass? I noticed she’s playing with a pick. 👍🎸🇨🇦
@@geraldbrown2875 you are correct, she's playing rock and roll baby she will always use a pic if it calls for it.

To me the last great Rock and Roll song
GEORGIA LO MAS GRANDE.....desde ARGENTINA ABRAZO VERDADERO.
Both great lead players. Dan nailed the outro solo. Very nice.
Unfortunately, the director missed most of it.
Good to see Warner's still slinging that guitar around his neck
Buren Fowler lead guitar
cooooool Dan Baird nice
yep
MORE COW BELLS~!
I love the sound of a Gibson Guitar 🎸 ( lead guitarist) but the Lady did a great job on that Fender Bass 👏
I did this on karaoke on a dare at a company party and was a huge hit. Of course, I didn't need the words.
That Paul sounds killer!and the guy playing it having a blast!
2:20 the camera always goes to the wrong guitar when the lead swaps to the other guy
What is the name of the lady playing here in this video ?
Wasn't there a blazing piano part in the original?
.....is that Trey Parker on drums?
We used to see them ALL the time in Atlanta.❤
The last great rock and roll song
