i am normally wearing thick army socks, of my countrys military. they are 100% wool. and i usually like a little bit of space in my shoes, especially at night when i am out in a club feet get more swolen from standing all night. so i usually try to have plenty of room in them. if i observe that a shoe is too loose, i still can get a cushion. for running shoes i also try to have extra space in the front, since i do not like to get blue toe nails from reaching my front while running downhill. so my runninghsoes are extra big. like a US 10. and my normal shoes are up to 9.5. its the middle of my foot which defines the sice - that part is high and needs to fit in too.
