- The guys made an appearance on Pat Sajak's latenight talk show during their 1989 summer tour that culminated in their receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. George Hamilton gives each of the guys their due for doing their part to help plug his then-new line of skin care products.
Apologies for the poor quality of the VHS tape. I sort of played this over and over... etc., etc., ad infinitum.
I was an 11 year old in the audience. Was on vacation in CA. I remember they had to restart this song because Micky threw that prop twice. They were poking fun at the other guest of the show, George Hamilton, who brought the prop I think. They had to restart the song because the show's guitar player kept messing up and Peter had to show him how to play it. Also saw Tim Burton's Batman at the Chinese Theater on opening week during the same trip. And Pat Sajak signed my cast for my broken arm. Good times. Thanks for the memories.

Wow! I didn't know any of this. That's ashame they don't get along sometimes but I know that's the way it goes in bands especially. Usually Off and on again relationships. But I love this video and wanted to thank you for sharing this with us! I must've missed this as I never saw it before. Thanks again. :)
I agree, Shay, these were the guys in happier times. Micky was in great voice, one of rock's great voices. Peter had a hard time, being a recovering alcoholic, dealing with Davy's drinking. Eventually, after the 2001 tour, Peter became the first Monkee to not only quit the band, but also became the first Monkee to be FIRED from the band... by Davy.
I'm finally getting it to work... 5 hours after I uploaded it. There's a bit of a discussion on the Peter Tork "Hope On" Project Facebook group about the way he wore his hair in '89... and what are all the girls saying? Like Keith Whitley once said, they "say it best when" they "say nothing at all." ;) It's good to have a good hair day once in a while. But he definitely was having a good hair YEAR! This video is dedicated to Peter, with thanks for being such an inspiration these past 3 months.
