@@PhuongDPRKDailyDoes this mean you also doubt the various NGO's in the DPRK that consistently claim that about 40% of the population suffers from chronic malnutrition? Obviously this should be distinguished from food shortages, because the latter case would ultimately result in famine and starvation. I agree with you on that, because I haven't seen or heard any information that hints in that direction. But chronic malnourishment or chronic undernutrition means the distributed food rations are not varied enough and lack the necessary balance in vitamins, proteins and minerals.

@@uvox670 First of all, I don't trust any NGO until I know who funds it. Upon closer research, many NGOs turn out to be supported by the US government, the NED, even the CIA or the EU. On the other hand, the term malnutrition is very broad, without precise information about how many of which nutrients are missing, one cannot form an adequate judgment. People are considered malnourished if they only fall slightly short of the recommended amount of a certain vitamin or nutrient. By this standard, there are malnourished people in every country. Even an oversupply of fat, for example, is considered malnutrition.
There is a special report of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), I think from 2014, according to which the average annual per capita food consumption in the DPRK was 174 kg.
FAO's projection for global food consumption per capita is 151.7 kilogram. In the case of China, its national nutritional diet indicates an annual consumption of food per capita of 135 kg. And in the case of South Korea, according to the National Statistical Office of the Government of South Korea, its annual consumption of food per capita is 126.7 kg. The daily average per capita was 476 g in the DPRK and 346 g in South Korea.
