I know this is a 3 year old video, but I do have to say, this is a beautiful truck. I know people that trash talk cabover trucks, but my grandfather drove a really nice K100, and a surprisingly nice International, both trucks rode nice and were comfortable, and neither was any louder than their conventional counterparts. To this day that was a pulling like hell truck . With 4:11 rear at 2100 rpm was about 80mph. But it would go up hill 80,000 lbs. all most as fast ....
I was in Kewaskum Wi today, 2-27-24 there is a 1987Freightliner Cabover for sale. New trans, clutch, and some other stuff. Place called TOP FUEL GARAGE. $25,000. A little high but with the repairs maybe not. Also a 3406B. Frame is in great shape. If I wasn’t 6’4 tall…I’d be VERY interested. I’d buy it anyway, but can’t as a full time rig.

@@eddiemartinez6 the 3406E is capable of safely making that kind of power. The E model is an electronic controlled engine. It has all of the features built in to protect itself from a catastrophic meltdown if something goes wrong. The A, B,C models are fully mechanical so when they are making huge power, the operator needs to monitor the engine closely so they don’t melt the pistons with high exhaust gas temps or cook the engine by high coolant temps. The mechanical engines use a mechanical rod from the accelerator pedal to the fuel injection pump on the side of the engine.

A mechanical cat will start easier if you crack the throttle open a little bit !
Are you saying step on the pedal a bit before cranking?
I am trying to buy my first mechanical Cat3406 425 HP. It has an air starter and I would love to start it with no problems when I pick it up. It’s a 1993 Volvo GMC Western Star with less than 200,000. This will be my first cab over. I’m a milk tanker yanker.
Nice one ! What’s the song in the start ?
Cat is suppose to start faster than that it's suppose to explode into life
I agree, I test drove a 97 freightliner coe today, started up cold in one turn, no smoke, pulled really strong at just 1/2 throttle.
3406 Cat 550 horse 13? What a sweet lady.
I think I heard in another video the HP is in the 400-425 range. 550 out of a B model Cat, you would want someone who knows how to watch and listen to that engine closely because they were not originally designed for that kind of power.
@@tuba7084 Your probably right I don't know that's why asked I did not state fact but I have been told by a owner operator that a fellow In Florida had his cat built make that power. I don't know if it's fact? I can and do watch videos and am able to understand even with my limited education you see I am only a general practice MD.
Worst thing about that cab over was the seat belt straps where bolted right to the floor of the cab. So you didn't where the seat belt because a big bump it would seem as if it would cut you in half. keep on truck-n
Odd way to build something. This one the belt works with the seat thankfully
@@fsctrucking Hi ya. Awesome videos - great idea to diversify in such unprecedented times.... I, myself, think your truck videos are really well put together mate.
Question: now forgive me if this question seems "stupid" to most out there but i don't know the answer & I'm way down under in N.Z. .... But is it compulsory to wear a seat belt in big rigs in the U.S.A?? & if so do most drivers wear them?? It didn't use to be compulsory here ( sometime ago now tho ) but it is now for sure.
Cheers & keep up the awesome vid's!!!

No disrespect to you or the other drivers but my dad always told me that is a semi driver does not move over for other semi drivers they think that they're the only ones that are supposed to be out there
He forgot to put DEF in.

Lucky driver !!
Good videos where you from
I had dual one hundreds and I put 191 gallons in one time.
I bet you were staring at that fuel gauge and praying for many miles.
@@fsctrucking I was sweating for sure. When I got done fueling it didn't want to start right away. Foolish to get that low.
New engine,s need time for running good and smootlhy ... after a few 1000 miles this engine runs better...
Nice 👌!!!!!
Sorry about your friend!!! If those around him were wearing their masks...they wouldn’t have passed it to him! Nice truck, I had an 84’ dollar truck...way back when!
Back then the Government Experts who killed the economy said not to... Now that its calm again, now they want masks?
