    I did not know it should start faster. This rig is my first mechanical engine. I've been reading the comments and believe i have ideas where she may be getting air. This will be addressed in a future video.
    Thank you for watching. FSC

      Does the truck have that hard rubber suspension? Or did Peterbilt replace it with an air ride? Did they finally upgrade those suspensions in the 80s? It's reportedly why COEs became unpopular in North America.

    I know this is a 3 year old video, but I do have to say, this is a beautiful truck. I know people that trash talk cabover trucks, but my grandfather drove a really nice K100, and a surprisingly nice International, both trucks rode nice and were comfortable, and neither was any louder than their conventional counterparts. The maneuverability of cabover trucks is bonkers for the amount of cab you can get, despite the doghouse being in the way.

    The first trucking job I had was 1987 I drove a freight liner cab over with a 3406b and a 13 speed . 4:11 rears 400hp. In 1987 the only that would touch it was 425 cat . To this day that was a pulling like hell truck . With 4:11 rear at 2100 rpm was about 80mph. But it would go up hill 80,000 lbs. all most as fast ....

    I was in Kewaskum Wi today, 2-27-24 there is a 1987Freightliner Cabover for sale. New trans, clutch, and some other stuff. Place called TOP FUEL GARAGE. $25,000. A little high but with the repairs maybe not. Also a 3406B. Frame is in great shape. If I wasn’t 6’4 tall…I’d be VERY interested. I’d buy it anyway, but can’t as a full time rig.

    I'm on the hunt for an older semi now that I got my CDL-A. Looking at an 82 359 with a 3406 and 13 speed. I absolutely love the way Orville sounds and that's just one of the reasons I may go this route. It would cost me more money to upgrade my hotshot truck and trailer and then still be limited to hauling maybe 20K on a 40' trailer. An older semi and flatbed is cheaper than the hotshot equipment! It may not ride like my 23 year old F350 but this is about making $$$.

    Not defending the Bison truck for not moving over but it happened to me a lot times after moving over to the left, the merging driver sped up and started passing me on the right. As we can see in your video the Bison driver took one of the next exits, and if you had started passing him on the right, he would have had hard times to move back into the right lane and to take the exit.
    However, I'm not saying you would have done that, but I had that happening to me a lot of times.
    Anyhow, nice rig. Keep on trucking!

    370 rear with with twin tandems plus power divider .
    With a load she run 60 up any Mountain all day long or night .

      I think I heard in another video the HP is in the 400-425 range. 550 out of a B model Cat, you would want someone who knows how to watch and listen to that engine closely because they were not originally designed for that kind of power.

    • @eddiemartinez6
      @eddiemartinez6 4 роки тому +2

      @@tuba7084 Your probably right I don't know that's why asked I did not state fact but I have been told by a owner operator that a fellow In Florida had his cat built make that power. I don't know if it's fact? I can and do watch videos and am able to understand even with my limited education you see I am only a general practice MD.

    • @tuba7084
      @tuba7084 4 роки тому

      @@eddiemartinez6 the 3406E is capable of safely making that kind of power. The E model is an electronic controlled engine. It has all of the features built in to protect itself from a catastrophic meltdown if something goes wrong. The A, B,C models are fully mechanical so when they are making huge power, the operator needs to monitor the engine closely so they don’t melt the pistons with high exhaust gas temps or cook the engine by high coolant temps. The mechanical engines use a mechanical rod from the accelerator pedal to the fuel injection pump on the side of the engine.

    Worst thing about that cab over was the seat belt straps where bolted right to the floor of the cab. So you didn't where the seat belt because a big bump it would seem as if it would cut you in half. keep on truck-n

      Question: now forgive me if this question seems "stupid" to most out there but i don't know the answer & I'm way down under in N.Z. .... But is it compulsory to wear a seat belt in big rigs in the U.S.A?? & if so do most drivers wear them?? It didn't use to be compulsory here ( sometime ago now tho ) but it is now for sure.
      Cheers & keep up the awesome vid's!!!
