  • This week's video is a vlog of being a full time hospice nurse doing case management and admissions. I'm not gonna lie, this week was tough! This was my first actual week of what it felt like being on my own. It was difficult and I still have a lot to learn. I love being able to share my journey as a nurse, especially as a hospice nurse. So far, everything that I faced this week felt like I was in nursing school all over again. Making sure I complete my assignments (charting) and self motivation to get things done.
At the end of each day, I look back to see how much I've done and how much I was able to help others. I've learned that with hospice, I get more fulfillment from patients, peers, and families that I wasn't able to experience working in the hospital. So far, I'm loving it!
I can't wait to continue to share this journey.

I appreciate you for posting your day-to-day as a Hospice RN Case Manager. I'm still a new nurse and I realized that I hated working inpatient acute care in the hospital setting. Presently, I'm trying to decide between job offers - outpatient clinic and hospice rn case manager.

Congratulations! Don’t be afraid to ask for help or let them know you feel overwhelmed. There have been times when I was afraid to ask for help, but they’re always a phone call away

Hey Krizia! I know you got your job fresh out of school! I’m curious t know did your position prefer or require experience ? I’m in school now 1 more semester left and I’m curious to know my chances of getting a hospice nursing job/case management as a new grad nurse

Hey! The only experiences I had was healthcare administration and working as a CNA in the hospital. During the interview, I showed them I was eager to learn and they loved it! Also, after applying, I’d reach out to them personally by email or calling to increase your chances. Home health is also another option! They hire new grads more easily than hospice.

Are you always going to be a hospice nurse? Or are you interested in PEDS, ER, ICU? so on

This question has been an ongoing internal struggle for me! Lol I love the flexibility of hospice, being out in the field, seeing the same patients every week and always having the weekends off. In school I wanted to do acute care and end up in the ICU. But so far I’m happy with what I’m doing. I did apply to new grad programs in hospitals and have been having a hard time getting an interview. I know some hospitals who offer new grad programs for those with experience and if I want to pursue a position in the hospital, I still have options!
