    I usually have good success opening up the hand by first getting the thumb out and then flexing the wrist. Awesome video. Love your channel, you've given me great additional ideas and tips to help my patients as well.

    Thank you so much I know I asked on Facebook a few weeks ago if you had this video so happy you made one and it was so helpful.

      @moniqueshaq22, Yes! My goal is to always answer people's requests for topics if it's something I can answer! I also have another video coming out soon that will take you through a real-time, daily stretching routine for hand spasticity. You may find that one helpful, too ❤️ And if you have any other requests, let me know! I love to hear from y'all!😊

    As a stroke survivor, I would like to see a stroke survivor on the video doing the therapies it would also show the way some of this really does not work very well.

      @patriciaWalz, Thanks very much for your feedback. This is something I'd like to pursue, however, with the pandemic ongoing that has made it difficult.

    Another great video Elyse, I can resonate with a lot of this one. I receive Botox in my forearm and finger flexors which does help

    Thank you so much. I wish I had had this video a year ago when I had my stroke, but so happy to have it now.I have just received my second round of Botox injections, and my fingers are finally not in a clenched fist. I’m still not able to really use them at all, but I hope with time that will change. Can you do a video on supination? I can do inactive supination but I can’t make it happen on its own even with the Botox in those areas. I appreciate you and all your great videos

That's how I choose the topics for my videos most of the time 😊 And thank you for sharing what your experiences have been with Botox. I'll add a forearm video to the docket ❤️

    hi mam Elyse does the botox can help the strengthening of your weak hips. My balance affected because of my weak hips.

    • @PostStrokeOrg
      @PostStrokeOrg  2 роки тому

      @bret, Botox won't necessarily help strengthen weak hips. It's meant to relax tight muscles due to spasticity. You may want to consider trying my seated balance video if you're struggling with balance: ua-cam.com/video/B04bquJgO-g/v-deo.html
      Or my seated leg strengthening video: ua-cam.com/video/QYVm2XG0D1I/v-deo.html

    I mentioned the botox alternative to my Dr and he frowned on it, even said it was counterproductive because it paralyzes my already immobile arm.. I think I need to find a Dr that specializes with stroke victims 😞

    Good Vidio. I tried BOTOX. I t didn't' help ME much. I found PT worked better. We are all different. I found a trick that helped my clenched fist. At night when I sleep on the side of my affected hand. I keep my hand spread on the mattress with my other hand holding it down. When I sleep on the other side, I keep my hand spread out flat on the mattress. It works. My hand use to be in a tight fist. Now it is loose enough so I can tie my shoes. (Not very well but I still am able to do it)

    Why does botox always need to start at the elbow (biceps)and not in the wrist and hand specifically(the hand is the only immobile tho

    • @PostStrokeOrg
      @PostStrokeOrg  2 роки тому +1

      @christiannaguit, Hmm. I don't know that botox injections always start at the elbow. However, actually administering injections isn't within my scope of practice, so this may be a better question for a neurologist! I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help with this question, but thank you for asking 😊
