I wonder if any one else is shocked at him reading so many books with romatic and charming charecters? Obviously he is a remarkable person who has honestly stayed true to his roots. I think that is the most admireable thing about him. He has all the charm and fortunes as the men he portrays and wish him well in this industry and life. He deserves to go far.
I love how he names off the four most romantic scenes, and ends with THE most romantic scenes as he boyishly laughs 'nice way to spend an afternoon'. :P
Im glad his favorite scenes were with Daniela, I thought theyre so perfect for each other whether in film or in real life, but of course I love dreaming.. I hope they work in the future together..
kyle Ferrer I agree with you with the chemistry between Richard and Daniela had on screen spilled into real life such a beautiful couple and very private people I do hope that they will meet again they are great actors and so beautiful
I LOVE that he loves the book! I think it's really great that he seems to have really cared about the character and how he was portrayed. It is sexy that he takes it so seriously.
Love how he thought this was the role of his lifetime! Think it's so sweet how involved he becomes with the entire history of his work- both this and the hobbit- there's a real sense of dedication
I've seen all the Jane Austin DVDS and other period films and would have to say that this was the best. The sound track was amazing; Richard Armitages character was passionate and had an intense presence. So many scenes I loved....the stair walk (that look from the window).....the dinner and of course that end.
So many things I could say about this show and this man. But gosh he's so cute when he's talking about Mr Darcy and his favourite scenes. Real romantic isn't he? His favourite scenes aren't beating people round the head, but really emotional ones.
The magical triangle of true English gentlemen is now closed and complete for me with its 3rd side: Mr. Thornton of North & South! Mr. Rochester (Timothy Dalton), Mr. Darcy (Matthew Macfadyen) and Mr. Thornton (Richard Armitage). My favourite gentlemen through out the English literature/drama.
he's so fine :) those were my 3 favourite scenes too that was very sweet, how he sort of looked down shyly and smiled when talking about the station scene he seems like a really really nice person in real life
Thanks, snowydrop. Yes, I have now seen that the kissing was something that was added to the script for the film. Since I wrote the last comment, I have also seen the P&P miniseries from 1980 and have grown very fond of it.
Does anyone know why Daniela Denby-Ashe who plays Margaret Hale doesn't talk here? She does have a leading role and besides she looks like a lovely person and I'd like to see her interviewed somewhere...
He must be very romantic guy, the 3 favourite scenes he picked are significant, these are more of women favourites rather than men. I like him for it more!! He seems like a very nice man! Not too spoiled, yet! lol
It's really a very brilliant film, isn't it? I found it very good, despite the bad opinions voiced about it. Someone commented on it being good to begin with, but then progressing it became a little tedious, and the romance too mushy. I did cringe a little when he gives her the flower, but mostly when she kisses his hand..a little too much there, I think...but all in all I liked it very much.
garvzc, Thanks for the hint. I have read Wives and Daughters and loved it. Cranford, I have yet to read though. I did pick up my copy of P&P to check for the reference you made but I cannot find that they even touched each other during that walk when they suddely found themselves alone (Jane & Binley strolled off and Kitty went to Lucas Lodge). Maybe the reason is that I do not have the novel in English and that the kissing where perhaps "lost" in the translation.
I love Period Dramas and well someone be4 spoke of Northanger Abbey Who here thinks tht BBC 1995 verison of P&P Pride and Prejudice was betta than the new one?? Please say the old one cause I really do hate the new one so much Read Elizabeth's other books (the women who wrote North and South EG) Ruth is good Cxx
I know. lol! everytime i watch him talking about the riot scene. how daniela keeps dropping on the floor whether it hit her or not. I crack up. I mean can u imagine her on the floor everytime laughing like crazy. lol!!! oh lets not forget the pooh!! ppl. the wonderful horse pooh. (eww!!)LOL!!
If anybody reads Georgette Heyer, wouldn't he make a PERFECT Mr.Ravenscar, in "Faro's Daughter"??? And if you like regency period type books, I highly recommend Heyer!!!! Faro's Daughter is one of my favorites. It's so funny.
garvzc, The first version of P&P was written in the 1790s, that is long before the "victorian era". The first edition came 1813, which is during the Regency-period in England. I have not read the novel recently. When/where does Lizzie kiss Mr. Darcy's hand?
It's not better, but different. Actually I like BOTH versions of P&P because they are done differently and are both beautiful movies. I think it is great how both actors that played Mr. Darcy differently, and I loved them both! I am sorry you hate the new one so much, such a shame...
Yes I did meet Matthew!! At a play that I went too! I didn't get to meet anyone else. If I had met Richard Armitage then I would have died and gone to heaven! LOL!
The Pain and the Itch about an American family at Thanksgiving. Very disfunctional family at that. I just told him I was from California and he said wow you traveled a long way. I was like yeah and then he said he was a bit overwelmed by all the women standing around and I said oh I am so sorry about that and he said no it is ok I don't mind and smiled. *sigh*
I know they both enjoyed that wonderful afternoon. I did. even though I wasn't there. I loved that scene & the kiss. It looked so soft, good & delicious. Thatz the kind of kiss i like. oh richard, I would love to spend a very nice afternoon with you as well. :) aaaahhhh!! u r soo delightful. I thank God he created you. amazing.
uroriginalgirl i totally agree that he and keira would look great together! lol but he is such a charming man. i love listening to him talk about how important the experience was to him. i can't wait to get there too lol. -sigh-
I love how he describes filming the kissing scene as "a very nice way to spend the afternoon". His smile when he says that is so cute.
rand0midentity I agree! And he blushed so innocently 😊
I love how he starts blushing when he talks about the ending scene.^_^
what i want to see! Is it on youtube?
love his laughter... never heard it so clearly... good job Britain for this fine, fine actor!!!!
A very nice way to spend an afternoon, indeed!
So well spoken, well read and with a sense of humor. One of my favorite actors.
I love how he names off the four most romantic scenes, and ends with THE most romantic scenes as he boyishly laughs 'nice way to spend an afternoon'. :P
I love his voice, I love all of him
Im glad his favorite scenes were with Daniela, I thought theyre so perfect for each other whether in film or in real life, but of course I love dreaming.. I hope they work in the future together..

I LOVE that he loves the book! I think it's really great that he seems to have really cared about the character and how he was portrayed. It is sexy that he takes it so seriously.
Barely talked to him since I was EXTREMELY nervous and YES he is that beautiful in real life!!
"a very nice way to spend the afternoon"..ahaha! He is so cute when he says that.. it was also very nice to watch!! :)

Love how he thought this was the role of his lifetime! Think it's so sweet how involved he becomes with the entire history of his work- both this and the hobbit- there's a real sense of dedication
I could listen to him talk all day...
I agree with you. Not only is a great actor, it looks like that man. Richard without a doubt is a great man. And with age becoming cooler.
Love you Richard Armitage!!..You where brilliant in this movie!!
I've seen all the Jane Austin DVDS and other period films and would have to say that this was the best. The sound track was amazing; Richard Armitages character was passionate and had an intense presence. So many scenes I loved....the stair walk (that look from the window).....the dinner and of course that end.
Me too, watched it countless times, still not enough, had to own the dvd and thebook
Thanks for uploading both parts of this interview.
It's sweet how he confesses he liked filming that scene at the train station. ;) kissy kissy

He's so lovely!
oh my gosh my heart just melts when i hear his voice, weak at the knees, mm
So many things I could say about this show and this man. But gosh he's so cute when he's talking about Mr Darcy and his favourite scenes. Real romantic isn't he? His favourite scenes aren't beating people round the head, but really emotional ones.

The magical triangle of true English gentlemen is now closed and complete for me with its 3rd side: Mr. Thornton of North & South!

I think it's the lips. they both have the same lips.
Chin too.
He could play the older brother/older version of Daniel Radcliffe in a film ...
If anybody reads Georgette Heyer, wouldn't he make a PERFECT Mr.Ravenscar, in "Faro's Daughter"??? And if you like regency period type books, I highly recommend Heyer!!!! Faro's Daughter is one of my favorites. It's so funny.

Nope unfortunately I didn't make it there. I hear it is beautiful though!

I totally agree! Hollywood is crap and Richard is too nice for Hollywood and I don't want them to corrupt him! LOL
Ой ты мой хороший
Perhaps i would be granted, but I do not want to go in such a role.
@luna4ever36 You're absolutely right! Lol Now, only to meet him, right? :)
lol, i was thinking exactly the same thing! even though they don't look similar... maybe it's the accent? xD
uroriginalgirl i totally agree that he and keira would look great together! lol but he is such a charming man. i love listening to him talk about how important the experience was to him. i can't wait to get there too lol. -sigh-
