Dave allen is such a genuine, nice bloke. As he's explaining his experiences, you can see that he knows exactly where and why he went wrong. These fight stories are so interesting to listen to. He could fill the O2 arena just by doing talks about his boxing experiences.
fought luiz ortiz for 9K! ..shocking treatment of the fighters.. all purses should be made public.. my heart goes out to Dave Allen..such an honest and likable man..
Just watched and listened to your interview on Boxing Now. The episode regarding your toughts on Usyk. Found your personal channel and subbed to it. Your, knowledge, steadiness, politeness and honesty is a pleasure.
This might be the best I’ve ever seen a boxer speak for a period of time. Eating a cottage pie absolutely tuned out listening to Dave, giggling away like a little girl. Good man Dave
He is an enormous man. I saw him sparring other big modern heavyweights close-up in person around 2011 and he towered over even them. He was handling them back to back like a man against boys. Really expected him to dominate his era.
Completely spot on about Joe McNally Dave...I met him in a bar after a show once and he was a really lovely guy, had a good chat with him (and Scott Forrest).
9k to box Ortiz, Christ on a bike! Props Dave. Cheeky fuckers had your pants down there. Just goes to show a good manager is a must. 9 k is a disgrace to box somebody at that level.
Dave you were given the golden ticket fighting so many boxers who were already established. there were so many times you could have done a number on certain boxers.
Much respect brother your one of the best boxing characters of all time to come from u.k, Your next chapter is what too focus on i believe youll be one of u.k best trainer's yet, big up dave Allen people 🎉
I met you on the build-up to this fight, I was sitting in my truck and shouted out my window for a picture. You are a really nice guy, i didn’t realise barker was there as well!! I thought then you looked small for price and said to my mrs. I was routing for you either way. One of my favourite British fighters. Wishing you all the best, on your day you would give anyone trouble. Take care
Love listening to you Dave, I remember I when i was 17 I bought a ticket off of your sister to see you on the Newcastle bad blood Lewis Ritson card but you were called off. Still drove up from London and watched a cracking fight between cheeseman and fitzgerald. Love to watch you fight in person one day, maybe a senad gashi/michael wallisch type before fisher !
I am sat here drinking the healthy choice Peosi Max too lol. I like KFC and went to TGIs when i went to New York. like you did. We all make mistakes but Price is a hard punching beast... takes some guts just to fight him and you fought Whyte and Ortiz at short notice too. Respect mate.
Exactly five years ago last night that fight. I don't know Dave, you've still got it in you to win a British title. The main decider of it is yourself.
I was there at that fight and it was tough because I like both fighters but was probably a bit more swaying to your side as was following your career at the time! ( I'd missed alot of Priceys as it was before I was fully into boxing but was supporting him aswell! ) we were joking that Dave was going to win this fight as both opponents were called Dave 😂 but it was horrible to watch you get knocked out at that fight and the arena was filled with genuine concern! On the night I thought you got stretchered out but I watched it back on Sky about a year ago and I think you left on your own feet. But it was probably the worst feeling after watching a fight I'd had as you seem like a really nice bloke Dave and although we watch fights to see Maximum violence! Shout out to Dillian Whyte ( this fight was on his undercard! ) no one wants to see a fighter get proper or permanently injured! I'm happy to see that your boxing again Dave but please do take it seriously if your going to continue to fight as your a nice bloke who now has a family that needs looking after you can have all the money in the world but if you don't have your health then there's no fun in spending it mate! Although I do think that when you do train and put all of your focus and effort in your actually quite good and could achieve somthing in boxing! I think you could atleast get the British title and should give that a shot with 100 percent dedication! You've already fought a world champion and beat him Lucus Brown and stepped in against Louis Ortiz when Eddy was protecting AJ so a British title I think for yourself is achievable 100 percent. Anyway take it easy Dave God bless to you and your family cheers
Seriously though, enjoyed this story. I'm sure Allen has plenty of great anecdotes from his career as he did fight some solid heavyweights in his career
@@whiterhinoboxing7950doubt u remember Dave but I met you outside the echo arena one afternoon and we spoke about Joyce beating lenroy Thomas had a picture and all that. Proper approachable bloke n down to earth. Be good to see u on the big stage again! Your channels top too, great stories!
To be fair mate, look at the size difference. And all of his experience. You took that mammoth 10 rounds. It looks proportionately like a welterweight standing next to a super middleweight
I Cannot believe all ypu got for ortiz was 9k 😮 disgraceful treatment. You're very good to listen to dave keep doing what your doing some great stories.
I know 9k for ortiz and whatever for Whyte might seem a bit crap, cos they are, but without them the legend that is Dave Allen wouldnt have been born and maybe he never gets the big pay day for the Price fight.
It was hard to watch that fight Dave, I can't lie. You looked resigned. I thought it was just a bad match up with the size and reach, but as you say your head wasn't right, and the strategy was off. Hearing how worried you were going in, you're a brave man to fight the way you did. To be fair to David Price, he had the right strategy and fought a good fight, even if he's not got a fully developed sense of humour.
Don’t you wish you had the mind and head you have now when you started out? I really think you could have got to at least European level, I remember watching you years ago and thinking this guy could do well if he matures not physically but mentally.
9 grand for Ortiz? Damn, very dangerous fight for little reward (don’t get me wrong I could do with £9k though), glad you got a few good paydays after that
9k is an insult to fight someone of that calibre. After camp expenditure, overheads, time put into training etc, I doubt he earned more than minimum wage pro rata
@@whiterhinoboxing7950 - It's ridiculous the gulf in money between boxers who are in and around British title level like yourself and world champions. @@petethompson3510 - Price wasn't a mediocre fighter. You don't win British and Commonwealth titles by being mediocre. He just got found out at world level. Price's chin wasn't great and his stamina wasn't the best if he was made to work at a pace he wasn't comfortable at. Price can fight well at seven tenths behind a jab, but his whole world falls apart when he's forced to fight at his maximum. No man should fight at top 10 heavyweight for £9,000
He's the idiot accepting it, he should have had a manager in place to manage his affairs and he wouldnt have been fighting for that money.
@@s1dew1nd3r4 Thats harsh.. fighters need protecting from themselves sometimes.. the promoters are often immoral and should know better

Great insight into the pain and trauma both physically and mentally these warriors go through. Price has his experiences too!
