    I think a fruit steamer (you know, the triple decker pots) would increase your output and decrease the time. While your apples are cooking in the top pot, the juice is gathering in the 2nd pot and the bottom pot is where the water is. Check it out. You get the same stuff, highly concentrated juice & mushy fruit on top. Just mentioning it.

      MonCher Thanks. I know all about steamers. If it was just the juice I wanted that would work. However. I am after the pectin. Best concentration of pectin comes from this process. Thanks for letting those in my comments know about the juicers. They are good for so much.

      Mado Jani Go to Amazon (who else) and search juice steamer. There’s several brands. It’s so cool if you’re out to make juice. It’s a triple pan set-up. Water goes into the bottom pan. The fruit goes in the top pan. As the water boils, the steam rises to the top & steams the fruit. The fruit starts dripping its juice into the middle pan - no fruit particles, just the juice. There is a tube/tap on the middle pan & the tube has a clamp on it. When the middle pan has filled you just put the tube into a mason jar, loosen the clamp & voila, it fills your mason jars. Don’t forget to waterbath your jars. But as Mommiesaurus pointed out, she was making pectin. She’s more ambitious than me. I use Ball’s pectin and Ball’s Jam & Jelly maker, too. But, if you’re out to make juice, this makes it very easy. There’s a few YT videos. Search "fruit steamer".

      Violet Carson It has been like that for several years now. I think it lack of rain. But it gives me a thicker Pectin because the apple puts more into the akin to keep the seeds from drying out. So it is kinda a win loose thing. Better Pectin but less rain. Thank you for stopping by. I am always grateful for new watchers.

    Just want to thank you! I followed your instructions and it came out just like you said.Haven’t had apple juice in years since it tasted so sweet and cider at $10/gallon at farmers market was too expensive. This juice tastes delicious nothing like store bought and almost like cider. I made 9 1/2 pints of apple butter instead of sauce and that is delicious too. Storing pectin in fridge and will finish that tomorrow.

    The deer apples you have are ones that fell from the tree and are usually bruised, that is why they are sold cheaper. Sometimes when a high wind comes along, it will blow the apples off the tree before they have a chance of ripening and won't be as sweet. I have made apple juice from hand picked and deer apples and the fresh picked are usually sweeter and don't need as much sugar.

    Wow that is a ton of information in one video! Thank you so much for pausing the camera during the parts where it was cooking, etc. Very considerate. I'm going to check out your other videos that you broke this one down into. I do have a question though. Can I make apple juice by just using the apple peel? I dehydrate apple slices to save for cooking and some for snacking, but I peel them first and hate to throw it away. I have no interest in making vinegar as that is not very expensive and I don't want to go through that whole process. I would like to make juice though, is it possible and do you know how?

      As long as the jars are sealed and you processed them correctly. They should last on the shelf for 3 or 4 years before they start to get old. But they can last 10 or more years on a shelf if it is a cool dry spot and the jars are sealed correct.

    Do I have to boil the cans so it can turn into apple juice... sorry my English is not that good

    • @mommiesaurus
      @mommiesaurus  5 років тому +2

      No you boil the apples to make apple juice. Boiling the jars, makes them sterile for the canning process. The Apples make the juice. The jars keep the juice fresh. I hope that made sense. If you have any other questions. Please feel free to ask.

    Hello wonderful woman, thank you so much for sharing me how to make delicious homemade apple juice! It's been 3 years since the day this video had posted so I very hope my thanks will reach you. There is also one more thing I really have to say that please don't put your hand close upfront of the pushing-pressured-air-out-hole, sorry I don't know what it called exactly, it's super dangerous! You scared the apple out of me when you did that. I hope your hand was fine.

      I put my hand behind it. So the air can be seen by the camera. It came no where near my hand. Thanks for the worry. I am glad to know people care. Thanks for your kind words and thanks for watching my video.

    My juice got too concentrated. Maybe I put too many apples or not enough water

    • @mommiesaurus
      @mommiesaurus  3 роки тому +4

      Depending on alot of factors including the natural juice inside the Apple it can come out strong. Just treat it as if it's concentrate. Add water when making it juice to drink.

    What do you use your apple pectin for?

    • @mommiesaurus
      @mommiesaurus  5 років тому +1

      To make Jams and Jellies. I dont use store bought. I make it myself. It helps make them thick and turn stiff. instead of just being a juice.

    • @mommiesaurus
      @mommiesaurus  2 роки тому +5

      You will not need preservatives. The canning process preserve it.
      How long will it last. Well I can not give any guarantees on that. What I will say is I have had jars of apple juice on my shelf for 4 years and it was still good.
      Most important thing I can say is. All canning is risk you take on yourself. I can not say it is a perfect process for Any food. However if things are processed correctly. Food can last for MANY years on the shelf.
