      The cost of designs actually:) You can get shitty ones on Fiverr, but they won't lead your store anywhere. Good ones, they cost at least $50 per design. Now how many designs would you want in your store? Pretty damn expensive and unpredictable adventure.

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 5 років тому +1

      @@adeus6206 I do exactly that (designer+illustrator), and yep, rates wouldn't go under 50 (not necessarily higher, u've mentioned a standard pricing for not-known artists for indy market). But you might be able to reach an agreement of a bulk offer. Like, 20$ per design if ordered a certain number of designs (I've done that for game projects and the like). And yeah, about 5 dollars stuff, you'll get what you paid for ( a solid design, IMO, no less than 5 hours... so... that budget is for 1$ per hour) ... the number of issues in a budget like that for a design/illustration is significant... Still, there are artists and designers (and some of us counting with both fields of expertise) that are not yet known, yet expert enough (I'm not particularly offering my services here, lol). People, funnily, make only like two large categories of graphic artists : students or super famous professionals with large clients. But there's the ones having worked at companies, not having yet a name in the freelance world (and often seriously better than many famous ones) , there's others that are simply great but putting zero effort in promotion, just because their good artists, but not good at marketing or social media (hence: no way to "get a name" in the industry). There are others that are amazing, but having their job apart, they don't desire to put effort in promotion. Is a hobby were they are brilliant at. But you'd still would get great+affordable designs from them.
      The way I see it, the main issue is that the people needing a design don't actually know about design or illustration, technically speaking, so can rarely see a jewel in the unknown. Then only go for the known ones, and the unknown jewels remain unknown, so. A bit of a catch-22 , here.
      There are many formulas to get you a t-shirt store (I'm in the way to make my own, am mostly making the designs now, lol), no pun intended, but is just about getting a bit creative there.

      @@adeus6206 Well.. 47 yr old oil painter, comic artist and illustrator (that's how it all started, since a 6 yr old kid) , then fine arts, then studied for an admin vacant and became an art teacher for some years, then game artist 2D and 3D, covering every field in 4 small and mid size studios, very intense experience, longest time in these was a full year were I was basically the only artist for the whole studio, 2D and 3D mobile phone games for a Nokia first party (3-4 guys (one left in the middle), we made 11 games in one year, lol)... but also worked at other 3 game companies, but PC and console based. Then, seeing how fast every game studio would close (almost per project), decided to go back to my initial pro activity, after Fine Art career and then teaching, which was graphic designer for web and print. Worked at that very long time, in 6 companies (the order in time is more mixed than this with game and design jobs), the longest was in the last one, 7 years being both in charge and in the execution (no other artist soul in the company) of all graphics for web and print (including going to the print companies with the money guy and dealing with everything), HTML, CSS and SEO, and that was a crazy ton of work. Till 2013, when became a full time freelancer for every freaking field I know of, but focusing on illustration, 3D miniatures for 3D print (board games, mascots, etc), and occasional comic and video game gigs. But yeah, mostly illustration and design. That's kindda my background, "summarized". :) Several videogames, card, and board games have my name on them as one artist, or the only artist in the box and credits. But still in the unknown, non famous bunch. ;) (and yet happy, as happiness goes by other route or path).

      WoCommerce is a plugin that turns your WordPress website into a store. Nothing else. You can still do the blogging and other stuff on the same website. Plus, it helps with the brand awareness and more control if you are more serious. Second, Shopify costs $29/month which is the most expensive option.

    Nice tutorial man but I wouldn't recommend including the shipping in the price for 2 main reasons:
    1. Printful also includes the express delivery option and having the free shipping method, you'll exclude it.
    2. If someone asks for a refund or the product is not delivered due to an incorrect address, a new shipping charge will be applied. This means you'll pay twice for that delivery, not the client. From printful website: "New shipping charges will be applied for orders that have been unclaimed at customs, returned by your customer, or had an incorrect address originally provided."
    A better approach IMO is to display the shipping price and use some UX skills to communicate how reliable and efficient your delivery is.

    Hi Darrel, what’s the advantage of using wordpress instead of shopify?

    • @darrelwilson
      @darrelwilson  5 років тому +4

      Cheaper, full in control over your website, you can change designs and themes ( thousands) plugins are free ( apps arent) no monthly fee, free automated taxes and shipping ( shopify is $300 a month) the list goes on. I wouldnt use it, ever

    • @3polygons
      @3polygons 5 років тому

      @@darrelwilson Indeed, so... Is shopify built for those who can't mount their own site ? (not ironic neither an statement, but a real question). I used to build (as the guy for that at companies, but it's from dinosaurs times) all my sites in HTML and CSS (is what I love), just late years earn all my money with design and illustration freelancing. But planning on building a t-shirt store. WP has the advantage for me that for now, I don't have solid handling of JS neither PHP/MySQL or similar, so, the dynamic and data base part is solved with WP.... if is how I'm understanding it, the only advantage in Shopify for people able to mount a site, is if it would bring more traffic by its own... Which I neither know, lol.

    What happens with charge backs ? If the customer pays you, you pay the company, the customer charge back and you have to pay back 100% the T-shirt company loses nothing and is laughing because if they drop the ball YOU pay for it not them ? You then have to charge back them and it all gets very messy ! That's the problem with "man in the middle" selling.(IMHO)

      Printful Support
      How does Printful handle chargebacks? I was looking to do business with your company but I am wondering what happens if someone goes to their bank and claims that they didn't make that purchase with their card? Does Printful still charge you for the service of creating, and shipping this item? I get that the amount would be taken from my paypal or bank but am I still going to be charged for the service you provide to get it to them or do I get back my full amount? I worry if I get chargebacks it will end up costing ME money that I don't have. How does Printful handle chargebacks in this situation?
      Chat started
      Liana S. joined the chat
      Liana S.
      Hi There, thanks for reaching out!
      We would investigate any chargeback, you can update or cancel orders as long as they haven't entered fulfillment. When they enter fulfillment, we would not be able to cancel orders. We'd advise to create your store policy informing customers about this, you can use this resource - www.printful.com/blog/top-5-printful-policies-your-store-should-copy/
      So would Printful still charge me if the order went through, and they went to their bank and claimed they didn't make that purchase?
      Liana S.
      We'll charge each order after it gets imported to us. You can select an option to manually confirm your orders, that way you can submit it when preferred or cancel it.
      Alright just want a direct answer. I am just wondering if I still have to pay the fees of the service if someone disputes a chargeback on their account.
      Liana S.
      On our side, all charges would still apply. However, we would investigate if any chargeback is there.
      How often does your company deal with chargebacks?
      Sorry, I just want to know before I start. I don't want to be shelling money out if such thing happens.
      Someone brought this up on youtube and I couldn't help but ask directly.
      Liana S.
      I understand. If the order has been imported over, all charges would apply.
      Our Terms of Service might help for further insight - www.printful.com/policies/terms-of-service
      Okay thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience.
      Yes you will still get charged, but they will investigate any chargeback and obviously if it's reoccurring, I am sure they would fix that. Some people are assholes with purchasing but I am sure they would be investigated if it was a reoccurring event by their bank, Printful, etc.

    Thank you for your video. I watched multiple videos of yours. I am trying to see which ones can be group together. Can I open 1 online store that would sell digital products, physical products fulfilled by me and print on demand fulfilled by Printiful all from one website? or do you recommend I create 3 different websites online stores for each type? Thank you.

    • @spinage8907
      @spinage8907 4 роки тому +1

      You can actually consolidate all three stores into one. I wouldn't advise it unless the three stores fall within the same niche though. If they do then go right ahead. If not you may be better off keeping them separate. It's good to keep your sites as straightforward and easy to navigate as possible, simplify the customer's process, send a clear message to the customer's on what you want them to do and what service you provide and you'll be golden
