I have a bracelet with small pearls and sterling silver little hearts around it that are tarnished. How do I clean that?

      Hi!
That sounds like a polishing cloth would be the best idea.
      Have you tried that?

Water on pearls? Is that safe?

Hi Janet, Thanks for your question.
Pearls do love water, this is true.
But there are a couple of details you will want to keep in mind: they don't love chlorine. So don't wear them while swimming in a chlorinated pool! And for cleaning it's better to use filtered water (a Brita or other charcoal filter suffices). In addition, it's good to know whether your pearls are strung on silk or a more contemporary specialist string, as natural silk can stretch. So in that case you want to be extra careful not to let the weight of the pearls stretch the silk, but be sure to lay them flat to dry the silk.
It's ok to wear your pearls in the sunshine, but don't dry them in sunshine or store them where direct sunlight reaches them.
Having said all that: the main destroyers of pearls are the alcohol contained in perfumes and sprays, as well as sweat and body oil. Gentle cleansing with a water-wet cloth helps.
I hope that helps answer your question.

@@DorotheeRosenGoldsmith thank you for the information. What about freshwater pearls? Are they real pearls? Does the same apply to them?

@@janettezcan4694 Yes, freshwater pearls are real pearls, and that is what I am talking about and showing in this video! Have you watched the one about the inventor of (cultured) freshwater pearls? I think you'd enjoy it, and learn a lot: ua-cam.com/video/byS6IyEZyR0/v-deo.html
