I don't mind the digressions in these games. I like seeing how dynamic these games can be. On a side note, prepping for Ivanchuk as black...all I can think of is just be as rested as possible because any opening is possible.
The seasoned pawngrabber knows that you never ever move your black pawn away from f4. White has to exchange all the pieces on f4 just to get it back, or face the awkward task to play around it.
Very much enjoying these KG games. Thank you! Oh, one idea I had during all of your explorations of interesting alternative moves that could have been played is to do the “page turning” effect as you transition back to the original game. Maybe I’m a bit slow but that definitely helps me. I hope I explained properly.
God idea to show games from a opening. Good to see how top players handle it. How about the Ruy Lopez Morphy Defense with games by Cpapblance, Fischer, Kasparov and Magnus. That should show the development of good ideas from the Best Ever Players.

Brilliant, as usual. May I add that Chucky beat Peter Leko with a King´s Gambit in Legend of Chess last year. No Chess player fascinates me more than the great eccentric Ivanchuk. He can lose to an IM one day, and next day outplay the best. He spends lots of time on checkers too.. I hope Daniel will show us my all time favourite game, Ivanchuk vs Kasparov, Linares 1991. It´s magic!
Arnfinn, please keep up. Here is my video of Ivanchuk-Leko from last year. And I agree, it was a sensational victory against a classy opponent: ua-cam.com/video/gHwyplh6Zcw/v-deo.html
@@PowerPlayChess Thanks, great video! Sorry, should have checked better. But, may I recommend this entertaining clip to you all? ua-cam.com/video/wBQ-xJvzwR8/v-deo.html
Come on Danny, you don't ask sorry for showing such beautiful sidelines... those digressions to the fascinating sidelines are pretty much the reasons, you stand apart from the rest!! And i believe you already covered the Morozevich-Vishy game already??🤔 still, will be fascinating to hear from you again. But can you also cover the revenge Vishy got on Moro, 23 years later??
I really don’t get why Giri created an open line and then castled right into it! If I could guess the plan for Ivanchuk then certainly Giri could have. Pretty happy to have got the ‘now you have a think’ moments right for once though 😊
MOVE19* after playing Bg5, locking the G-file, why didnt white play Qg2? Thats winning right? (2lazy to use stockfish today, iff nobody answer i will check the MightyStockFish) toughts? stockfish reports -6 after 20.Qg2
@@kyledekeyzer9439 Oh okay, thanks. When I see a negative eval, say of -6, I think it favours Black. But I understand what you mean, that it's much better for White.
Please, someone, forgive ny ignorance: After c6, what happens if White pushes the pawn to e5? I know there must be an efficient refutation, but I just can't see it.
He did of course, and we sometimes see him play with brilliant endgame technique that shows he has a classical chess education. But overall, Ivanchuk is one of a kind.
@@zuhriddinergashev7075 But that starts to get very messy. The king isn't necessarily badly placed on f1 and the knight comes out to f3 with tempo. Generally this is what White wants from the variation - a chaotic non-standard position!

Nice metaphor there with "head of silicon" far more poetic than "head in the sand".

Great game by Chucky . Thanks Danny. 👍

Always find tha Nf6 and Be7 present white with the most practical problems here. Thanks Daniel and keep up the good work.

8:53 Why not Rde1 instead? Keeping a rook on d1 doesn’t seem very necessary.
Bishop's gambit is the proper way to play the King's gambit IMO. It's a minefield that black has to walk through especially if they play 3..Qh4+
Have to admit, those gambit games bring up brisk and intrigue

11:52 what if f5 by black?
ng5 + if hxg5 Qxg5 threatening qg7 mate and qh5 mate and if Ng5+ Kh8 Nf7+! Rxf7 Qxh6+ Rh7 Qf6+ Rg7 qxg7#

5 e5 would be met by 5...d5 and Black stands better.
so ivanchuk didnt have his formation in soviet/russian school of chess?

Instead of 13......Na5, 13........Ne4 worth consideration.

One "dislike" from Giri...
Morphy is a no gentleman gentleman - very verbal play - quietly spoken but mainly expletives!
